SkateZilla Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Long story short, I Want MFDs, lol. I have plans to get Thrustmaster MFDs again (had them before DCS for Falcon 4.0, then sold them off years ago, but with DCS and A-10C, I find my self wanting another set more and more (prolly 2 sets so I can have 3 MFDs whenever DCS:F-18C Comes out). Now I Plan on For now just putting them in front of my screens (will attach images later when I get time), Right now my LMFCD is exported to the bottom right corner of my left screen, and my RMFCD is on the bottom left corner of my right screen. I Plan to Add a 4th Screen to my system to export the MFCDs to it, and place it in a lower position under my 3 Screen Array. I have an Extra Screen Sitting in my closet that isnt the same spec as my 3 24" 1080P screens, (its 22 inch 16:10, 1680x1050 DVI), (also have some other smaller screens but I'm not sure if they function.) Now I Have 1 Free MiniDP Slot on my 7950, I can buy another MiniDP to DVI Active Adapter, and Set up a 4th display from the same GPU and Leave it as an Extended 4th Screen or Eyefinity +1 and Export the MFDs to the 4th Screen. I Also Have an XFX6850 sitting around doing nothing, Would I be able to put that Card in my System and use it to Run the 4th Screen and still be able to export the MFDs to it via the Monitor LUA? I really dont wanna push the 7950 any Further, at least until I XFire it or replace it with a R9-290/x. I'll Prolly test the Adding of 2nd GPU+Screen this weekend as It's time for a routine cleaning. Hansolo Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Hi SkateZilla, I am pretty sure you can install the extra card. I must admit I am not running a three screen setup for the mail view, but I am running three screens in total. The main view I have is connected to my main card (GTX680) where as the two secondary (helios with MFCD's + CDU) are connected to a secondary card (GTX560). The secondary card doesn't run that much load (10-15%) but then again there is much grafics load. Hope this can help a bit. Boltz Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I am running three screens for the main view and a fourth to export the MFCDs. All are connected to a GT640. I don't know about using dual graphics card so all I can recommend is that you test it out. A-10C Cockpit Build Thread My YouTube Channel

Thanks, I still havent gotten around to testing it out, But I'm pretty sure I'll try this week, and if it runs good then all I have left to do is get the TM MFDs mounted. My issue is setup, which I'd have to experiment with since I can seem to get answers from anyone with Eyefinity Array + extra screen for gauges. So would it be Eyefinity Array, + 1 Extended, or would it have to be Eyefinity 4 Screens with Game UI and Viewport for rendering Constrained to 3 screens with the MFCDs pushed to the 4th? I dont think a Single 7950 would be able to run DCS at 7680x1080 efficiently, and I'm pretty sure DX9 would have a heart attack with that Horizonal Resolution anyway. I also Plan to Upgrade to a R9-290 soon, and may or may not purchase a single slot R7-240 Card to drive more displays. Boltz Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I'm an NVidia guy so I'm not sure about the Eyefinity stuff. Certainly with NV the screens seem to have to be identical (or nearly identical) for you to configure NV Surround. Also the 3 screens msut be connected to digital outputs and my card only has 3 so my fourth screen is running on VGA. Since my 4th screen is different it has to be setup in a Surround + 1 setup. Again only know about NVidia but I doubt you could push 7680x1080 of DCS out a single card and still get decent frame rates but I would be very interested to hear what your results are as we seem to have a similar setup but I haven't started upgrading or working on fps. Always been changing my screen setup but I think I've found a good setup now. A-10C Cockpit Build Thread My YouTube Channel
SkateZilla Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) I think i had a brain fart, then just now realized why it wont really Kill my FPS w/ a 4th screen. I have one MiniDP Port open, and I Plan to upgrade to a R9-290/X soon, and it uses Full DP, I Have a MiniDP to DP Adapter, so I Can just buy a Full DP->DVI Active Adapter. Problem with Connecting the 4th Screen, Solved for both Current/Future Hardware. As for Setup. So, Eyefinity + 1 extended 5760x1080 (3x Asus 1080P) 1680x1050 (1x Acer 16:10) So Option would be to run at 7440x1080 Constrain Center Viewport to 5760x1080 n LUA Constrain UI to Center Screen Using x/y and Res. Position Left/Right MFCDs to Top Right/Left of 4th Screen Position Other Screens/Sensors from other AC in the same coordinates So 7440x1080, with 30 Scan Lines (1680x30) being dead space, However, the Performance hit should be Minimal, As I'm still only rendering the Cockpit at the same 5760x1080, And I Am still rendering the Displays at 512x512 x2, Just Moved off the top of the Center Viewport / Main Screen(s) The only difference here is I am Adding 1680x1080 Space to the Display Pipe, Moving 2 separately rendered viewports off of the 5760x1080 Main Viewport to their own space. *Adjust the MFCDs Position and Size to fit inside of the Thrustmaster MFD Bezels, will test when my ActiveAdapter/MFDs get here next week. So: _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('Eyefinity + 1'); Description = 'Eyefinity w/ 4th Screen Displays, 7440x1080' Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 5760; height = 1080; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 5.33; } } Gui = { x = 1921; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; } LEFT_MFCD = { x = 5761; y = 0; width = 512; height = 512; } RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 6927; y = 0; width = 512; height = 512; } UIMainView = Gui Edited January 22, 2014 by SkateZilla Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
SkateZilla Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 Ok an Issue I just found out, I need to Define the position of the Controls Box (RCTRL+ENTER) and the Huey's Auto Pilot / Co Pilot Status Boxes. SkateZilla Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 K, So I Successfully exported the MFDs to my 3rd screen while limiting the main viewport to the other 2, I think I'll look into Helios so I can put the RWR and Stuff on my 4th screen Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Boltz Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 The RWR is just another viewport I can't remember it's name off the top of my head or whether you have to change its init file but it shouldn't be too difficult to find. Helios just adds the bezel on top of it. It's the same for the clock and UHF repeater. A-10C Cockpit Build Thread My YouTube Channel

Im actually looking for a list of them, Cuz I Wanna Move specific things around, ie the RCRTL+ENTER Input box the Huey AI / Autopilot/sight box etc. So Far I know what the MFCDs, are, the displays for the KA-50, the RWR_SCREEN, the CDU Screen, but I'm looking for others... there's some nice setups for helios that pretty much displays the front panel on the 4th screen. I gotta look into gettin that setup. Boltz Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 This is the only guide I can seem to find on the topic: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70716&highlight=export+indicators I suspect that you would have to change the init.lua of the Control Input Box (if there is such a file for it.) I have no idea where to find it but I expect this will just require some tinkering and tweaking to find something that works. I would be interested in this as well since the default positions are not always the best especially for those of us with multiple monitors. A-10C Cockpit Build Thread My YouTube Channel
SkateZilla Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 yeah, I'd rather use Helios, as it has Gauges and textures and stuff Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Intrepid1 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Can you turn off all guages? I have been able to export the mfd's rwr and the counter measures with the aid of Helios and the help from other members on this site. I was wondering if there is a way to turn off the gauges in the virtual cockpit . I already have them working on my 4th screen of "T" shaped monitor set up. I was able to turn off the mfd's in the cockpit, and that did increase the frame rates a little I was hoping for more by disabling the redundant gauge Randy
Boltz Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Intrepid, you could use HUD only mode (LAlt+F1) That's what I use with my Helios setup and it definitely increases the frame rate for me. A-10C Cockpit Build Thread My YouTube Channel
Intrepid1 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Boltz I do use the hud mode ,only occasionally but do like the spatial awareness that you get when you are moving your head around with Track IR and have the canopy's visual limits around you Thanks for the suggestion tho. Randy r
Boltz Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I also agree with you there. When AAR you need the visual references and when you are formation flying. The gauges probably don't use up much performance though since they are not screen renders. A-10C Cockpit Build Thread My YouTube Channel
SkateZilla Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) OK, So I have the MFDs outputting, But I can't seem to get the UHF, DIGIT_CLOCK and some other items to display, they are correctly set in the LUA, but when I stop Helios, the only things on the screen are the MFDs, Even after moddign the indicator LUAs per instructions in the other thread to set them as viewports... Will upload image soon. cichlidfan Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 So I Guess I Have to mod the LUAs per instructions in the other thread to set them as viewports? SkateZilla Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 Does anyone know if it's possible to move the UH-1H/MI-8 Crew Status Box and the Input Box? I just don't quite get it all. So I want to have the cougar MFD's showing the moving maps etc but they don't. Just the desktop background. Everyone talks about LUS's and Viewports but is there a beginner's guide, followed by a more advanced guide that includes Helios?
