Sounds like the last one for this update... This event (I use that term somewhat loosely) is geared towards stressing 1.2.7 and is hosted on the Firehouse. It is not to stress test the server. As many of you know, it is believed the settings other than LAN have been fixed and we have been asked to have clients connect at 1024. We've been running it like that for about a week and all indicators suggest it is fixed. Connectivity has been solid and server upload bandwidth usage minimized. The mission / test platform has been refined to keep the pressure on. I've maintained most cold start positions, added several warm starts, incorporated the 476th Training Tower (said to be harmless to the testing) near ANAPA with training munitions, added some air starts across most popular platforms, added wave style AI infantry and armor attacks, added some vehicle patrols between Gelen and Novo for the choppers to seek and destroy as well as adjusted some of the target areas. AI fighters also patrol the vicinity (but are in a reactive state so they won't fly around clubbing those who want no part of it). Artillery has been added near KC, and it is shelling an SA11 position to the north. Rockets were removed as they were clearly still causing frames problems on a broad scale. Red KA50s have been added near the AI armor battle, while blue KA50s have been added nearby as well to support their own side. P51 positions were also added once it was confirmed the gun bug had been rectified. Anything else I should add? I've added some bombers to come in and do some pretty heavy carpet bombing (4 groups of 2, one group every hour or so) and they may be causing issues so I'll keep me eye on it and remove if necessary. The bombing runs went pretty well but I had some formation / following issues that prevented the second bomber in the formation from dropping. The infantry wave attacks that were supposed to happen are also a total fail... sigh. Thought we were off to a good start but then it dried up... If it dries up completely I might take it down and make some adjustments. Bombers currently land at KC / KP and park at spawn points so I anticipate some trouble there... Fixed a few things with the formation, and deactivated the bombers when they landed to prevent spawn collisions. Also turned off disperse for the infantry so it should be a real bloodbath for the choppers to assist with near Gelen. I am touching up things in the background and saving as a different version so if it does empty out I'll drop it just long enough to open up the different version. Keep in mind, there's a KC Air 01,02,03 and a KC (Cold) 01, 02, 03... I'm looking at it now and will rectify if they're mixed up. Mustang Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 about 50 minutes in had a major fps drop down to 5-10 fps. was around 25-35 before then. not sure this matters for matters for testing I've typically seen this when a client loses sync (not you) and starts warping into the terrain, mostly nose down into the terrain and creating an FPS killing dust effect - did the FPS drop only happen when looking in a certain direction?

ENO Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) Well we tried and again the attendence was on the low side but judging by some of the conversation over in the DCSW thread it sounds like people are getting impatient for an update- any update. A few little things I noticed- I had a B1 carpet bomb a max load of 2000lb bombs into a group of vehicles and the result was a Ural 375 surrounded by crater marks and barely a tick on its damage. I know the bomb effect has been modified slightly to account for a lack of blast effect- but I'm still not sure if it's been tweaked enough. The Mi8 didn't have any external weapons pylons yet did have weapons hanging in thin air. I haven't looked around to see if that's reported but I can't imagine I'm the only one who noticed. A KA50 landed damaged with gear up and fluttered non-stop even after everything had spooled down. This is a problem I've noticed before... maybe it'll show up in the track? Also a little something I noticed was if you're following a weapon in F6 view to an actual target... the camera seems to follow the weapon into the ground beyond the target but the target is still hit. In contrast when it hits the ground, it hits the ground exactly on time... Not sure if that's an anti cheat mechanism or something? Perhaps it's done on purpose. I have some SU33 positions available on the Kuz as well- and I saw a takeoff message from it and immediately switched over to it to see how it looked... imagine my surprise when the aircraft was about a mile behind the Kuz... clearly that whole carrier issue. Anyway- it is alive and well. These are just things I noticed as an observer today. Though we didn't get many out I do thank the folks who showed up and flew around for a bit. I think it's just the A-10's HEI rounds that had their damage tweaked. They seem more useful for taking out infantry now. I agree that bombs and especially rockets need a damage radius increase though. You can ripple off a whole rack of rockets at a truck and unless you get a direct hit it will just drive off. We need a workaround for the lack of shrapnel and shock wave damage.

masterrob09 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Since August 2013, everyday we running up a "stress test" on our 5x public servers. Cause our MP-Mission (FreeFight) have around 500 active Units, over 50 time-event-based scripts and 80 player Slots...since the last Update theres no chance to keep the servers more than 3 hours alive...result: Crash. At this point, our 1.2.6 Servers are more stable, with the same mission, as the 1.2.7 things. Its really frustrating. ED got alot of work in next time, to fix this up.
