  1. I present this custom wallpaper to the A-10 Sim-Mod team.. I think I speak for most people when I say that you guys have brought an amazing gift to the lock on community. We all appreciate the hard work you guys put into this to make it one of the best mods available for the game. Thank you and S!

  2. As I recall, from the initial release to the release of the last patch and every patch release in between, there has been a chorus of ED's customers giving constructive criticism about various flaws in the modelling of LO. Nobody is bemoaning the fact that ED didn't get it right the first time. The problem is that they STILL haven't got it right and there are only a few of us clinging to hope that there will be another patch. Your reference to the ET and "common sense" is arguable. But the main thing is that ED did something about it, unlike other aspects of the modelling. Who said anything remotely involving cars? The main point there was that you don't have to write code to see that something is modelled incorrectly in a sim. And no one that paid money for the product should be expected to keep quiet about its flaws. GG, I know you, probably more than anyone else, have given ED results from your research and testing. I hope ED never responded to you with, "We haven't seen you attempt to write a flight sim ... let alone attempt to 'get it right."

  3. A friend of mine informed me today that he bought a Mig 15! It is a two seater front and back. This to go with his Dolphin L29 he bought last year. Oh to have money.:( Anyway, he sent me photos of the cockpit. I thought they might be of interest. 5. I suggested long time ago to implement the bushes in DCS but I see we can count on them in LockOn earlier thanx to Birdy's mod as always!

  6. It is a wing tip launch. It is not MiG-29.

  7. Well I have finished up the model of the F-14D and it is ready for our VNAO Beta testing team to put her through her paces.:pilotfly: Here are a few first flight shots from this morning. (Had the graphics turned down a bit but I am sure you will be seeing some better quality shots very soon indeed.

  9. Allthough a great idea, at this point the graphics by Tomcatz need some tuning before I can use them in a future scenery mod. Works like a charme except for one pair of oiltanks that remain white. I do like the animals but agree that the farm and fence look bit to 'neat'. I'm also afraid that the need to modify the graphics config will make it less suitable for a scenery mod as it will screw up most people's setup. Is there a way around this? The single trees do look great and I could use some seperate LOM files of stand-alone trees and low bushes for a future scenery mod.

  10. After selecting GBU press "O" and fly to the target as you would for CCRP and when the Cuing Marker hits the bottom of the fall line it will release automatically. The cool thing is if you want to release manually then you can fly quite far off target as long as the Cuing Marker is in the HUD area and you release the weapon when the Que is near the bottom of the hud then you're on target with out any need for guess work. 11. I've just been reading the (long) thread over at SIMHQ about the campaign system in DCS.BS - will it be dynamic, will it allow replayable interesting campaigns ? etc. Something seems a bit odd to me though - everyone wants the sim to force realistic behaviour onto the 'pilot', realistic FM, realistic weapons, improved (realistic) AI behaviour. Part of the 'realism' of a campaign is - undoubtedly - not knowing exactly what will happen next, and it seems to me that the system of triggers, randomisation & branching / phased campaigns should to al large extent allow this (with a bit of effort & thought from the builder). However - There seems to be a recurring theme that in F4's dynamic campaign, If I chose to ignore the mission I've been given (or on completion take it upon myself) & go wandering off looking for other targets, what I do while wandering off will have an effect on future missions & that this makes the whole thing more 'realistic'. The feeling expressed is that the whole map has to be populated so that if I decide to go off on this tiki tour, I will always find a 'living' battlefield below & around me to attack. It might be a reflection of my limited knowledge, but I don't get how this fits with a realistic portrayal of a combat pilot's role. It seems to me that for the most part (as mentioned by person who's name I've forgotten - new beta tester & a well known author (appologies to you)) in actuallity, a pilot is given a very thorough briefing before a flight, and a very specific set of objective to attempt, then return. I've always assumed an actual pilot doesn't get to go "I don't fancy doing the flight I was assigned, I think I'll divert 200km over there to see if I can find something else to do.." or "Right, done with that, still got a few rounds left in the cannon, I'm just going to take my $164m (or whatever) worth of aircraft out for a joyride & see what else I can shoot up". It may be that an alternative target in the vecinity of the one assigned becomes a more obvious & do-able goal ( again using someone else's example - a different bridge on the same railway line ), but a well crafted mission using the tools described in the new ME should allow this anyway, and still account this as more or less of a success. Simillarly, the use of a random unit generator seed & triggers should allow other units to unexpectedly call for CAS (or assistance / CAP in future units), like - but better than - the LMR utility did. But - if what's being asked for is the ability to chose to not - or not only - do the mission as assigned - to be able to just wander off anywhere & do whatever the pilot dreams up - it seems to me that this is not more realistic as a sim, though perhaps more entertaining as a 'game', but less, and not something that makes scrapping the present approach to the campaign system worth while...

  18. I must be the odd one out. I am not a pilot, and I have no real idea of how the aircraft modelled in the game compares with the real thing. Obviously you guys do, so I feel left out. I just play the game for what it is, I know things ar enot like this is real life. Real life isn't fair and the odds are not always stacked in your favour. However, I don;t complain, I just get on and deal with what I have against what life throws at me. I do the same in lockon, guys stop moaning, a) I saracastaclly pointed out earlier, you don't "really" know how these things work, b) a 100% realsitic model is not possible at the moment c) Deal with these little short comings, be happy with what you have, neither sides are perfect. I know we always want better and better, but there comes a point when too much is too much, please just give it a rest. (sat down waiting for some of you to come back and attack, even though I didnt mean to attack/upset any of you)
