  1. Благодарю колектив ЕД за проделанную работу, выражаю свою поддержку. Прошу всех присоиденятся, а критикантов, иметь совесть. Срам какой, вон на английской ветке уже давно висит, такая тема :(

  2. Recently, there have been a lot of questions and misunderstandings about the campaign system for DCS: Black Shark. What follows is a brief description that I hope bring a bit of clarity. The campaign system in DCS: Black Shark is not linear, branching or dynamic; it is phased. Let me try to describe this: using the embedded Campaign Editor, you can create as many phases in a campaign as they wish. The one I’ve been working on for example will between 25 and 30. You can think of each phase as a folder. Now using the Mission Editor, you can create a mission using many of the new functions such as a trigger and resulting action system, defined random chance of units appearing, new targeting system that sets “zones” for units to search for and attack targets, etc. After you have created a mission, you can then assign the mission to any of the phases. You can place as many missions within a phase as you want. Obviously, putting more missions in a phase will reduce the chances of the same mission being flown when the user is in a phase multiple times. This process can actually go pretty quickly when you create a base-template for each phase and then add and modify to the template to create multiple, separate missions. When the mission is created, you assign goals. A goal can be such things as the player surviving, primary target(s) being destroyed, friendly units not being destroyed, time limits, etc. Each of these goals can be assigned a numeric value. At the end of the mission, the goals are evaluated to determine if the player stays in the same phase, drops back to a previous phase or advances to the next phase. The only thing linear about the phased system is that the flow of the phases is linear (although it can flow forwards and backwards). In this manner, a player’s progress in a campaign can go back and fourth according to how the missions turn out. When you tie phases to front lines, it is easy to set up a situation where you have front line that ebbs and flows according to mission results. You will never had to re-fly a mission to progress in the campaign (unlike Lock On). As you can see, this is not really not linear, branching or dynamic. In later iterations of the campaign system (it’s is a work in progress), we plan on adding such things as resource management (units and stores) and squadron pilot management. While it is certainly not out of the question that we will also do a dynamic system that algorithmically generates missions and a battlefield environment, the phased system is what we wish to perfect fist. In addition to providing much better game play possibilities than the linear Lock On system, it takes much better advantage of our Mission Editor system that we are developing for both the entertainment and military markets. Thanks, Matt

  3. Some Pictures I took while at the African Areospace and Defense Expo in Cape Town, South Africa. Silver Falcons Areobatics Display Team of South African Airforce A C-47 drops some South African Airforce Skydivers A South African Airforce Hawk Mk120 Trainer used as an Aggressor Aircraft Hawk Mk120 with Gear Down Hawk Mk120 Releasing Prachute South African Airforce A109 South African Airforce Gripen D Gripen D shwing off some burner Gripen D doing a 3g Turn The following aircraft are all operated by a private company Thunder City based at Cape Town International Airport. They own the largest collection of privetly owned military aircraft including 4 Hawker Hunters, 2 Lighnings, 2 Bucceneers. These lightnings are the only ones still flying today. They were even kind enough to break the sound barrier for us albeit at 20 000 ft to avoid any windows breaking. Hawker Hunter painted in the colours of Shell The Lightning going inverted for us. Something that was quite intresting was that he was only using one engine through the entire display and we were told that he had his throttles just above idle, some power, and when they where going to break the sound barrier he mistankinly broke it while he was doing an almost 90 degree climb to 20 000 ft. See i just tried this HDR mod on my machine and just playing with built in brightness/contract configuration on my monitor if I set MagicBright to DynamicContrast it looks just like on Popeye's machine (from screenshot)

  11. Head over to the Red Flag Forums and note your interest :) You will be invited on a Flight with a Squad and should you be able to hold your own re Brevity/Procedures etc etc - which I have no doubt that you will - you'll be allocated a slot in an Operational Flight for the Red Flag which you have showed an interest in participating in. As for friends to Fly with - No doubt there are no shortages in that department. You just gotta ask..........;) No Doubt - L.O.C.E.R.F. is a lotta fun and on the day, make no mistake: It's as Real as it Gets! You physically feel the pain when your Wingie/CAP goes down and Share the elation when things go to plan - and the subsequent stories told and retold for a week or so afterwards through the debriefs and Squad chats.........the memories linger :) And then a Hiatus and before too long the planning starts anew - and knowing you're up there with THE Best Virtual Aviators that LockOn has to offer..........Good Times! :D
