  2. Hey Community, Finally I managed to upload my movie as a HD-Version on Youtube: BE SURE TO CLICK ON HD! And here's the story: It was a nice but cold winter evening, when suddenly the alarm jolted me out of my arousing daydreams. Intelligence reported, that the Georgian Army sent several speedboats and cruisers to board our not half-manned aircraft-carrier to get hold of highly classified material. Now it was on me, Ivan Smirnoff, to jump into my KA-50 and interfere with the Georgian plans. While I powered up my Blackshark the enemy ships already launched a couple of missiles to destroy our cruiser. But defense was strong enough. One ship-to-ship missile was even able to sink one of the enemy speedboats. I flew to the location where our intelligence suspected their position. A single speedboat was left and I was able to destroy it. Returning to our territory, I had a short stop on one of our cruisers. During this refueling stop, I visited the commando centre, observing our fleet’s confrontation with the rest of the Georgian ships. Our ambush finally led them to give up and retreat behind their border. It was time to return to our base and get back to this wonderful daydream. Ivan Smirnoff

  5. Newest: ------------------------------------------- INTRODUCTION: v.12 package - Slightly more trim authority added. v.13 package - corrected instructions. v.14 package - more tweaks. Smoothing and padlocking on BS. Latest and greatest update for adding dynamic trim update to DCS:Blackshark to give a more natural experience when using a recentering, non-forcefeedback joystick like the Saitek X52. This crudely mimics fly-by-wire AFCS & side-stick controllers as used in ADOCS, HACT, Comanche, Dauphine Experimental, and the Block III Enhanced Apache. There are now three modes, identified by your computer voice as you cycle through them: Manual Trim, Standard Dynamic Trim, and Flight Director Dynamic Trim. A calibration profile is also included, along with more detailed instructions. ------------------------------------------- MODDING FOR NON-X52 STICKS: Go for it. The X52 Pro should work fine with it as-is and you don't really need the dat. GlovePIE and PPJoy don't care which stick you use, but I can't guarantee the LUA files will show the correct key assignments in Blackshark. They might need some slight changing, but keep it minimal. Anyone without an X52, make sure your x, y, and zrotation (yaw) PPJoy axis assignments are correct and put their curves at 15. I'm using a rotary on my throttle to suppliment yaw trim, so if you want that you need to match up either the script to yours, or your PPJoy settings to the script to give you this. You also may need to go through and change which button the trim/mode switching is on inside the GlovePIE script, which is Joystick1.Button6 (the pinkie) on my non-pro X52. ------------------------------------------- WHAT YOU NEED TO INSTALL: -DCS: Blackshark -PPJoy -Carl Kenner's GlovePIE For PPJoy and GlovePIE, you can either download my larger AVsim uploads that already include them, or go to their respective sites. ------------------------------------------- FILE PLACEMENT: Put the Blackshark 1 dat in your saitek software folder. Not necessary, but I included it. You can leave the PIE scripts where they're at and open them from GlovePIE manually, as it's only a directory away. Both LUA files go in your internal DCS profiles directory, which is somewhere inside of C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark. At the very least, you need the PPJoy one loaded up to get the axis curves of 15 for the proper trim capture rates and response. If you want the button assignments within Blackshark for the X52, use the other one, as well. For anyone with an X52, I recommend you at least try both just to see what it's intended to be like and to make sure you don't miss any steps. ------------------------------------------- PPJoy: After you have installed it, open Configure Joysticks and ADD a new Virtual Analog Joystick with 7 axis. See the next section for matching to mine. From time to time you may need to go back in there after booting up your computer to reinitialize it by selecting this virtual joystick, clicking on Mapping, and going through the modifying wizard. Don't actually change anything, just hit next repeatedly, and then finish for Windows to recognize it again if it's not. ------------------------------------------- CALIBRATION REQUIRED: There is a custom GlovePIE script for the Windows calibration process required. Open it in GlovePIE and hit "Run". Go calibrate your PPJoy virtual joystick in the Windows Control Panel - Game Controllers. Select it and then Properties. The script must be running first. PPJoy1.Analog0 = Joystick1.x PPJoy1.Analog1 = Joystick1.y PPJoy1.Analog2 = Joystick1.z PPJoy1.Analog3 = Joystick1.xrot //side PPJoy1.Analog4 = Joystick1.yrot //top PPJoy1.Analog5 = Joystick1.zrot //twist PPJoy1.Analog6 = Joystick1.slider Double check all the red bars afterwards that are onscreen. ------------------------------------------- BLACKSHARK DTU MULTI: Once you have everything up and ready, "Run" this in GlovePie. There are three control modes cycled through by doubleclicking joystick1.button6 (pinkie on X52): -Manual Trim -Standard Dynamic Trim -Flight Director Dynamic Trim You will hear GlovePIE saying in your computer's voice which one you've switched to. ------------------------------------------- OTHER ASSIGNMENTS: I currently have the y.rot (top of throttle) on the x52 as a 50% authority trim range, which is nice to supplement the twist axis or pedals (if you have them). In Blackshark's options, the three keys under the x52 MFD are the channel hold buttons. Reset is the all important Heading Hold. The middle is pitch. The left most is bank (wrong in the other readme). Switch the Desired Heading/Desired Track switch to the middle when Route Flying, Flight Director, and Weapons are ALL NOT selected to see where the FCS is trying to realign you slowly to (limited to 20% authority) when the Head Hold channel is on. In Flight Director, you get yaw dampening only. Yeah! Be aware that in Manual Trim mode when the GlovePIE script is running, you are trimming yaw along with the other two channels. So either don't apply any when trimming, or correct this after you've trimmed yaw accidentally by counter-yawing and trimming again. Yes the X52/DCS profiles are simple, but I've been mostly just using the keyboard and cockpit clicking for other commands. Not sure how much I want to program. You're not dreaming, I only have one key in the x52 dat profile...for the unseen rotary button. ------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT NOTE: GO INTO BLACKSHARK'S OPTIONS TO SEE THE BUTTON ASSIGNMENTS (CLICK ON EACH X52 BUTTON OR HAT) BUT DON'T CHANGE THEM IF YOU CAN HELP IT. ESPECIALLY DO NOT CHANGE THE AXIS CURVES. THE RESPONSE OF THE DYNAMIC TRIM UPDATE CAPTURE RATE, TRIM RANGE, AND THESE CURVES HAVE BEEN TAILORED TO WORK IN A SPECIFIC WAY TOGETHER. Trim is already on Joystick1.Button6 within GlovePIE, so if you use this without modding, do not apply the trim function to the stick or change this keyboard setting within Blackshark's options. AGAIN... TRIM IS ALREADY ON JOYSTICK1.BUTTON6 WITHIN GLOVEPIE, SO IF YOU USE THIS WITHOUT MODDING, DO NOT APPLY TRIM FUNCTION TO THE STICK OR CHANGE ITS KEYBOARD SETTING WITHIN BLACKSHARK'S OPTIONS! ------------------------------------------- SHAMELESS PLUG ON STEREOSCOPICS: I'd also like to plug, for a moment, the first commercially available stereoscopic driver set which actually works. Go to www.iz3d.com to download it. Yes, it works with Blackshark, and several of the modes are free. Please support this company if you have an interest in true 3D...especially if you have an ATI card. ------------------------------------------- (IMPORTANT!!!! copied here for posterity. download the package to use it. don't just copy this into glovepie and expect it to work) PRIMARY SCRIPT: if pressed(joystick1.button31) then { press(numpaddel) press(o) }end if released(joystick1.button31) then { release (numpaddel) release(o) press(enter) release(enter) press(numlock) release(numlock) }end var.0 = PPJoy1.Analog0 var.1 = PPJoy1.Analog1 var.2 = PPJoy1.Analog2 var.3 = PPJoy1.Analog3 var.4 = PPJoy1.Analog4 var.5 = PPJoy1.Analog5 var.6 = PPJoy1.Analog6 PPJoy1.Analog2 = Joystick1.z PPJoy1.Analog3 = Smooth(Joystick1.xrot, 2, .03) PPJoy1.Analog4 = Joystick1.yrot PPJoy1.Analog5 = Joystick1.zrot + (Joystick1.yrot * .5) PPJoy1.Analog6 = Smooth(Joystick1.slider, 2, .03) if doubleclicked(joystick1.button6) then begin { var.m = var.m + 1 if var.m = 1 then begin { say("Standard Dynamic Trim") press(leftctrl) press(t) release(t) release(leftctrl) } end if var.m = 2 then begin { say("Flight Director Dynamic Trim") press(leftctrl) press(t) release(t) release(leftctrl) } end if var.m > 2 then var.m = 0 if var.m = 0 then begin { say("Manual Trim") } end } end if var.m = 0 then begin { t = joystick1.button6 PPJoy1.Analog0 = Joystick1.x PPJoy1.Analog1 = Joystick1.y var.y = 0 var.x = 0 var.c = 0 var.l = 0 var.r = 0 var.p = 0 var.s = 0 } end if var.m = 1 then begin { var.c = 45 var.l = -0.575 var.r = 0.275 var.p = -0.900 var.s = 0.0 var.y = EnsureRange(Joystick1.y / var.c + var.y, var.p, var.s) PPJoy1.Analog1 = var.y + Joystick1.y var.x = EnsureRange(Joystick1.x / var.c + var.x, var.l, var.r) PPJoy1.Analog0 = var.x + Joystick1.x } end if var.m = 2 then begin { var.c = 70 var.l = -0.50 var.r = 0.0020 var.p = -0.775 var.s = 0.0 var.y = EnsureRange(Joystick1.y / var.c + var.y, var.p, var.s) PPJoy1.Analog1 = var.y + Joystick1.y var.x = EnsureRange(Joystick1.x / var.c + var.x, var.l, var.r) PPJoy1.Analog0 = var.x + Joystick1.x } end

  6. I have a MSFB2 with a 8 direction hat switch which I slew the shkval camera. Since there is no command for slewing the SHKVAL to upper left/right or lower right/left (diagonally) it is kinda tedious to slew it that way, since I first need to slew it up, and then slew it left when I want to slew it towards upper left. Sorry for my poor English, but I hope someone understands my problem and have some sort of fix for this.

  7. I feel almost silly asking this. Everyone and their mama is going nuts about Black Shark a few boards up from this one, so I don't know if anyone really cares at the moment. However, it was stated that if anything happened, it would be after Black Shark was complete. I think we can now officially call it "complete". Any plans or news?

  8. Hi everyone I made myself a DVD-cover since I didn't find any others around that I liked. All art is probably copyrighted and if someone wants to make a claim I'd be happy to remove the cover from here. It's standard DVD-cover size (272 x 184 mm) and should print on any regular printer just fine. There is a PSD-version of the file available if someone is interested in to continue work on the cover, just PM me and I'll gladly share it with you. I had no idea what to write on the back of the cover so I just egregiously stole some text right off http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com front page and the system requirements was found in some thread here in the forums. Hope someone likes it and please do tell me if it should be removed due to copyright or the likes. Thank you

  9. I don't know where to put it. I think it would be nicer if units did not always explode when they are destroyed. When firing at a civilian car, for example, it could just catch fire and lay there to burn. I like how tank slow down and explode after a short time. But when they are shot with something other than a missil, they could only stop and burn and randomly explode much later (amunition cookoff). I say this, because from all the millions of war videos I saw, I think it would be more realistic that way.

  10. There is no way to answer you without knowing the system you are building, as well as if you plan to overclock or not. The motherboard will dictate if you need DDR2 or DDR3 and to a lesser degree, the speed of the RAM. The CPU you select will also be a big factor. In a generic sense, memory clocks have minimal performance boost in most games and sims. . .most overclockers are running between 800 and 1066 MHz RAM. The big deciding factor is the CPU you use, and what FSB speeds it will be running at. For my E8400 overclocked to 3.96 GHz, I need the 1066. Someone with an E8600 won't need that given the the higher CPU multiplier allows lower FSB speeds. RAM is SO cheap right now, you can get 4 gigs of DDR2 1066 for 32 bucks. The same in 800 MHz might be 20.

  11. Hey, nice idea. I came from EasternGermany-Rostoc´k. Rostock-Laage was the last station for the German Fulcrums before they saled to Poland. Think it should be possible without any wild hacks. The maintain problem is that I´m not a good designer so I hope that is anyone out there who have more experience in 3D-art. Think I need some years more to learn more about stoff like that. Don`t know....What do you think about that: As I sad- LOMAC designers made a perfect job and it isn`t easy to build it better without using more polys as LOMACs Migs. Greetings, TOM (PS: Link:http://www.modern-air-combat.de/index.php?topic=791.msg3731#new )

  17. Actually, Vista 32 recognises 4 GB of memory total. That includes the amount of Video memory. It sees video memory first then allocates what is left over to RAM. Since you are recocnising 3.5Gb of RAM on your system then you likely have a 500mb video card. If you have 1GB video memory you will only get 3 GB RAM etc. So everytime you upgrade your video card your RAM total drops no matter how much you have installed.

  18. Thanks for the encouragement JaNk0. :) Regarding grass. Well you have to understand that with 2 pixels to play with (in width) there isn't a lot you can realistically do (at least with my lmited abilities anyway) If you look carefully at the screenshots you will see a fairly faint hint of green (most noticeable in the cockpit shot). You should see this better in game assuming you run at higher resolution than the screenshots. Close up it looks a bit like moss.. Well that's the idea anyway. If I went more than 2px the joints would be too wide. Even then grass is very much a 3D thing.. I can fake a 3D look here and there with bevelling on the slabs, white lines and so on.. but the best I can really do is moss I afraid.

  20. hehe ok CH stuff here we go.. 1: When you unpack them your first impression is that you have made a terrible mistake. You just payed out a small fortune for stuff you have seen your mate playing with last century. Zero sex appeal. Seriously look "meh". You notice the stick isn't the same stick your mate had last century because it now has 3 lights on it and a USB plug. Same deal with the throttle, memories of the ubber throttle quadrant for the FLCS or the saitek come to mind as you stare as this bland piece of yawn. Then you pull out the pedals, soooo close together. Yep ... ripped off. But NO! You aint hehhe. In fact you got what you paid for. Some seriously sweet hardware the has no style whatsoever but works like a treat. 1: Stick, looks meh. Spring pressure is way way low. You first thought is god this is not good. After you get used to it then you may start to think differently. I chuckle at all the trimming threads as I hardly ever trim unless I have to scratch my nuts or something. It is deadly accurate, does what it is meant to very very well. If your table is smooth and clean they won't move and inch. 2: Throttle, looks uber meh. WTF is up with this slide thing? Get used to it. Remember a collective should be used in the opposite way to a fighter. Fighter you would push forward to "power up". In a chopper you pull it towards you (Or up) to "power up". It won't take long to get the hang of this and now I can switch between chopper and planes no worries. You will be pleasantly surprised when you find out how accurate the thing is and another plus, it stays exactly where you left it. No creep. Also won't move if table is smooth and clean. 3: Pedals. Once again with all CH stuff. They look crap. Also a bit close together for my liking but you get used to it and they take up way less space then my old thrustmaster setup. Once again very very accurate. However on carpet the damn things move around like they have a life of their own. I jammed a couple of books between them and the wall that sorted the problem :) 4: Every one of them need a USB 2.0 port. The DO NOT daisy chain. If you don't have that many ports spare you have to get a powered USB hub but make sure it will work with them. Anyway as you can tell I love them. I spent quite a bit of time doing research before I bought them. I wanted something that I did not have to modify out of the box and I wanted it to work well. The only thing I have to find out for myself is the longevity of them, So far I have flogged them hard for a couple of months and still deadly accurate. Time will tell on long term but from what I have read it should be pretty good. Some linkages for you.. another one of the reasons I bought CH. Community support is hardcore :) The CH Hangar http://www.ch-hangar.com/ Stickworks... http://home.att.net/~stickworks/contents.htm From these forums comes this thread by Ghost... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=33591 Want to mod that CH stuff aye?? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35520 Now scroll down...... You just started grinning didn't you emenance  Anyway questions about programing should not be directed at me because I know squat about it. I learned to program in only what I needed, I was more interested in flying then fighting so as long as the gear came up and I got toe brakes I am a happy camper :)

As I said, I'm quiet interested in flying aerobatics in LO and I don't need ED to change anything for me there. I'll take part in VFAT 2009 with LO no matter how.
