Check the Gray ghost on the nose wheel cover! I was also a Black Widow fan during the VF-23 vs YF-22 playoffs, I simply liked the looks of it better. I watched a documentary on Black Widow and IIRC all VF-23 prototypes are scraped today, there's just a single 1:1 scale mock up in one of the museums in US. ATF competition:1 point

:D Did the guy doing the calibration fail to do it correctly? Was the calibration wrong? Then the calibration Fail and so did the avionics troop, hence, crash cause by a fail :smartass: But you are correct, it wasn't FLCS fail, but maintenance one. The report is on one of the link I posted with the AIB findings.1 point

Not ambigous at all :) To put it simply - you are in effect 'Renting' the Software subject to certain conditions. You have a Limited Right only in relation to the product as opposed to Ownership where your Right would have been absolute. Think of it as a Lease Agreement ;)1 point

Which date is this?! Did you notice you can change dates in LO? Depends on a time of year, so if there's sunrise at 6:00 during on the June 21st and the sun's rising at ENE or 60° on your compass, check it on the Dec 21st and wait til 09:00!1 point

Dragony, here is a mission that is locking up. Just load up this mission, and see if it locks up for you, for me it will always lockup within 1-2sec, no more than 2seconds. As far as the mission goes, its a FARP base with friendly convoys heading to an enemy base, with that enemy base guarded by AAA and convoys. Obviously, its not finished, its a very rough draft of a few ideas I had, there are no triggers yet so it isnt trigger related. This I can tell you about the lockups: Load up the mission, see if it locks up, If it locks up do the following in the editor: 1 - Right next to the farp is the 3 friendly convoys heading west, the middle convoy is BMP-3s, if you timehold it to 23hrs the mission will not lock up. (BMP-3 Convoy name 'Time hold 23 and no lockup') 2 - You can also make it work by deleting the USA HAWK units far Northeast, and leaving the BMP-3 convoy to 0, so it spawns right away. (Enemy HAWK group name 'Delete this and no lockup') So basically, Timehold middle friendly convoy to 23hrs while leaving USA enemy Hawk unit in, it will loadup. If you delete enemy hawk unit, you dont have to timehold friendly bmp3 convoy and it'll work. If you delete hawk unit, just re-add, and it will instantly lockup again. I narrowed it down to that much, if it doesnt lockup for you, then i can work on my end, maybe issue with my comp. This isn't the only mission this has happened to me on, it's happened acouple other times after putting lots of hours into a mission and getting so frustrated with the lockups trying to figure it out i ended up deleting the missions, but I stuck with it this time and pinpointed it to the couple problems above, for this specific mission. lockupmission.miz1 point

I'm a reasonably experienced flight simmer, but I'd been out of it for a long time before recently purchasing a better computer. Needless to say, I had to have DCS: Black Shark, as I'd long daydreamed about a serious Ka-50 sim, it being my favorite helicopter of all, the last word in bizarre and gnarly Soviet outside-the-box military aerospace engineering, and was quite pleased to find out one existed. At first I was pretty discouraged, too. On the one hand, I wasn't going to play it in "game" mode, as that would defeat the purpose of having this particular piece of software, but on the other, learning it step-by-step over the course of months or years, including engine startup, radio frequencies, and so forth was not terribly appealing either. I settled on a middle ground. I set the avionics and flight model to full real, but allowed myself radio assist, tooltips, and labels, which I'm coming to depend upon much less. I then set about learning to fly the helicopter passably, operate the Shkval and HMS, and operate the weapons systems, all in small-scale self-created missions. I printed out the key commands, and also a condensed list of the really crucial ones for basic combat and flight, watched various tutorials on Youtube, and got to the point where I could take off, fly to the target area, acquire targets, and destroy them. Now I am working with the datalink a bit, and have successfully commanded attacks by wingmen using datalink information. I'm not ready for serious multiplayer, and I probably never will be, but the "baby steps" approach has been extremely rewarding, and I certainly feel like I'm getting the maximum amount of challenge and realism without it becoming a job, rather than entertainment and mind candy about a subject dear to me. Which, since it's doubtful that I'll ever fly any kind of aircraft in real life, and certainly not a Ka-50, is pretty much exactly what I wanted. And as long as my interest is captured and I continue making progress, I may get around to the engines, radios, and so forth eventually. This game is at such an at least initially overwhelming level of detail and realism that even an amateurish and shaky attack on stationary T-72s that is successfully executed can be more richly satisfying than spectacular achievements in many other games and sims, and this has kept me going with it. So, focus on what particularly interests you about the game, learn how to do it incrementally while having a good time, and ignore, at least for the moment, what doesn't. DCS: Black Shark is very scalable in that regard. Anyhow, hope this helps, and best wishes.1 point

Another user posted this fix that worked good for me to correct the AA +AF problem. Open Nvidia control pannel: go to the option for Adjust image settings with preview and toggle it between Let the App decide and Use advance settings, make sure you hit apply. then your AA and AF will work again...do this even if you already have the use advance dettings checked. Until you do no setting for AA or AF in the DCS profile will work not even in global(for me anyways)1 point

Multiple GPUs on one "card"? That's always been my take on what's "next". It seems logical enough. Of course, then someone will run two or more Multi-GPU cards in SLI. :smilewink: I'm still betting that we'll see a single card, mult-GPU type of thing at some point. Call it "SLI for the masses". :D My 2 cents is this: I'm like to build my own, but I've never been interested in spending extra $1000s getting those benchmarks just for the sake of getting them. Why you might ask? Easy. A PC game like Crysis is an anomaly. The developers made a PC game fully taking advantage of the technology to make the thing look mind-blowing but with the side effect of not being able to be ported to consoles. This is far from the norm. Look at some of the newer games coming out like Modern Warfare, for example. They look pretty damn good, but it is VERY obvious that they're dumbed-down so they can also run on the consoles. Consoles are where the money is and the majority of developers know this. They'll sacrifice a PC port before they'll think of doing that for a console. I'm not seeing the point of spending extra $1000s on a PC to run games that an Xbox 360 or PS3 can run with no problems, other than just getting the benchmark for its own sake, like I said before. ;) This philosophy has made me a happy camper so far and the only problem I run into is flight sims. You have a handful of developers on small budgets making these things with what appears to be no attempt to make them less CPU dependent (doesn't Windows 7 have a way of using the GPU for processing things OTHER than graphics?), so you basically have to throw a ludicrous amount of CPU horsepower at them to get them to run halfway playable. GPUs can already do physics, I've wondered if there's a way to get them to do other stuff, like the calculations needed for flight models.1 point

Not bad for a quad core w/ SLI I might say. I can understand some ppls frustration with the technology, but I dont understand why one has to bash it. Its there, it works fairly obviously, and its here to stay. I agree it needs to be perfected, but whats the other alternative? Ill just say that the software and hardware engineers know what they are doing, and if there wasnt any significant advances, they wouldnt release the technology.1 point

Yes, there are plans to make a tutorial. Please see the three links at the bottom of this link: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/All_about_land From my knowledge, it only works in max 2008. However feel free to try it in max8 and see what happens. As of right now, only the terrain tools have been publicly released. you dont necessarily use max to create the terrain from scratch. From my understanding, you use another program that accurately has mapped terrain and you can save it as a certain type of image format in grayscale. When you import this into max, the different shades of gray represent different height and thus your terrain is automatically generated. (I think)1 point
