First off sorry if this comes across as spammy but I am sure many people would admit that they would enjoy this. I know there is no chance of this ever happening but imagine if ED decided to make an Airwolf Module of DCS. I'm sure it would be a popular game as there are many people who enjoy airwolf. Imagine that. A squadron of Mig 25 Foxbats out on patrol over russia when suddenly they pick something strange up on radar. The leader tells the flight to intercept and see whether or not this object is a threat. What they (well actually they never have chance) find shocks them. They start to radio command until a small white object streaks out of the sky and smashes into the flight leader. The Foxbats take the defensive but slowly and one by one are picked off until only one remains. He manages to catch a glimpse of the aircraft which has shot down the fighters and is shocked and slightly scared to see a helicopter approaching him at over mach 1. He tries to turn tail and run but it is two late. The missile rips the left wing of his aircraft away from the rest of the body. The last thing the pilot ever hears is a distinctive howling noise. Passers by caught a glimpse of the aircraft and are quickly debriefed by russian military forces. Word of what they described gets back to the Russian high command and they are shocked. This is like nothing they have ever seen before. This is Airwolf. Wouldn't airwolf just make an awsome DCS game. :pilotfly: Thanks for reading. And yes I know there is 99.9% chance this will never happen. But hey you never know. Someone at ED may be an Airwolf fan.:P2 points

just a couple, disable the clutch button in the control panel to give you an extra button. learn the SST, its not that complicated but you can have fun. Eg. i have my mode switch go from Cockpit view, to external to map view. Mode 2 = cockpit, Mode 1 = external , Mode 3 = Map .. the trick is to assign these "always pressed" buttons as macros instead of buttons/keys so when switching to them it only sends the command once.1 point

Поздравляем победителей! <51> Frostie - Быстрейший МиГ-29 пилот в мире <51> X-Man - Быстрейший F-15C пилот в мире <51> Breakshot - Быстрейший Су-27 пилот в мире Несколько замечаний от судей. Из 44 пилотов, которым записались на гонку, в общей сложности лишь 23 пилота участвовали в окончательной гонке. После оценки первых треков, судьи обнаружили, что некоторые пилоты не в полной мере соблюдали правила, предусмотренные для каждой миссии в файле ReadMe. Некоторые пилоты не приземлились в Керчи для полной остановки и сделали касание по посвистели дальше. Это вызвало серьезную проблему со временем измерения, которое опиралосьна нормальных пилотов, что сели в Керчи. Один красавец начал заправился на промежуточном дроме, что является нарушением правил, требующих тык и вжих. Эти случаи были расследованы жюри, которое затем решило засчитать трек, но добавило дополнительное время, в качестве подарка за ловкость: * 30 секунд. Штраф за посадку вместо исполнения тык и вжих * 30 секунд штрафа за тык и вжих в Керчи, вместо посадки * 10 секунд добавили, как среднее время замедления самолета до полной остановки Один из треков не защитали, потому что пилот не сделал Тык и вжих в Раздольном, а вместо этого профигачил прямо над базой на 8000 метрах на полном ходу.Обратите внимание, что судьи не будет обсуждать предложения выщитать, сколько он там выиграл времени. Еще раз спасибо всем участникам за это мероприятие! Жюри разошлет письма победителям в течении следующей недели, с просьбой представить свои адреса, для отсылки кнутов и пряников. Вот окончательные результаты всех 23 участников гонка:1 point

а знаешь почему он назад летит?)))) потому что при включении ты в памяти зафиксировал координаты висения - и сначала он сбрасывает скорость - а потом возвращается в точку. Триммирование переназначает точку зависания. *и зачем триммер сбрасывать?1 point

Nice ! Allow me to add some so everyone (i mean everyone) can easily fly with BE coordinates FROM INSIDE YOUR COCKPIT without even getting messed up at all As you see, it is VERY simple and it does not matter where the location is you are looking for. You always have a direct visual reference (your HSI as map) with your own position displayed (the end of the bearing marker), BE itself the middle of your HSI ..and a reference range which can variate of course (from the middle of HSI to the end of the bearing marker). Whenever you get a BE call, you just have to "draw" that line from the middle to there (just use the 360° BE Map = HSI) and visualize the range refering to your own range. That way you always instantly "read" (not calculate) any given BE call ! If you get good in this, you even can compare your radar lock (MFD read-out) and call bandits positions. Its not 100% accurate to the digit, but good enough to let every flight member know, where the bad guy is...and that pretty accrurate. You also can use this method to spot ground targets very precise. All you need to do, is to read out the BE coordinates from the MAP before you hit fly and write them down. Then you can add the threat ranges or/and your attack profile (from what side to engagen, what distance to keep, etc etc). You will find targets without searching always for visual little dots in the "textures". (night, camoflage etc etc) For tactical or strategical scenarios (wider airspace) this is excellent... in close combat formations BE-calls are not advisable, there flight- and combat-calls take over according to flight tactics. Yet in some cases BE calls can be even there very helpfull! (pop ups...re-group (rally point)...coordinated flight with other packages, ...etc etc etc) It is also wise to define a "comfortable" BE (can also be any rtb point runway etc)...to expected combat area. Mindplay with this....you will see, it will make "klick" :smilewink:1 point

Another tip for X52 users not related to programming but good to know. On the X52 (not the pro) you will have little "jumps" on the X-axis. If you go to the X52 control panel and then select the Deadzones tab, you will see the jumps when you gradually pull the stick backwards. The way to fix this? Not what you would think of. Press and hold any button and pull the stick back again.......no jumps. So, for X52 users, it would be good to tape one button down (preferably one of the muli function display buttons) to increase the precision of the stick!1 point

So now the convresation turned to Jet VS Helo again... (I think its already talked too much but since you keep up I will place my arguments too). OK a fighter(or even attack airplane) pitted against a helicopter would probably end up with a helo in pieces or both participants turning around and leave. A fighter have a lot more means to detect/engage/evade a helicopter! But think of the bigger picture... battlefield is not a fighting pit! Situations are more complex than we may imagine... Its a multi-threat environment, not a helo against fighter! While a fighter packs sensors/BVR weapons/ECM the helo don't BUT there are other things for a fighter pilot to be concerned such as 1) Enemy ground based radars & AWACS to warn the helo 2) Possible AAA and SAMs(if fighter flies over hostile territory) to threaten the fighter 3) Enemy fighter CAP. You never send one asset alone (be it a fighter, a helo or a tank) in a multi-threat environment. In case the enemy achieved air superiority in the whole theater of war you just don't send air assets unless you are absolutely sure that something(be it ignorance, no available assets etc. etc.) will hinder the enemy responce. As GGTharos and others puts it, many will think that helicopters don't have a place in modern conflicts or that a helicopter is only usefull after air superiority is established. The truth isn't exactly like that... In modern conflicts that US participated, from Vietnam War to recent Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, the US doctrine was to achieve air superiority(something that they learned from WWII) and then strike ground targets while interdicting enemy air activity(if any). That proved to be a good strategy since most of their adversaries had a small air power compared to US/NATO and only a few(after military analysis) had a problem-free(in means of technology, homogenity and standarization) force to oppose massive air raids. Still in other conflicts were air superiority couldn't be established, like Falklands War, transport helicopters were used and in many nation's military doctrines the use of helicopters is included even if air superiority isn't fully achieved(or is achieved for a short time). Keep in mind that in a conflict between more balanced forces both sides will utilize fighter escort/patrols along the front line so both sides will be busy doing other things rather than hunting down helicopters. Even if the enemy judges that a couple of helicopters are a worthy target to engage, the last flies sorties in such a way that only aircraft in the imminent area can respond (but bear in mind that if an aircraft is near your target area you won't send a helicopter, or it won't be alone).1 point

Речь как раз о том, чтобы на вход конвертера ОГГа давать уже 16 бит 22050 кГц после обработки "под радио". Но не такой, как сейчас - с ровненьким спектром до 20 кГц, а обрезанным, как будет в реальном радио.ТОгда конвертеру ОГГа не придется убивать качество, стараясь вбить в эти 50 kbps поноразмерные 44 кГц, да еще и с полной полосой.1 point

Ahh sorry guys I misunderstood which one you were talking about. I should have read the thread properly :lol: The graphics.cfg lines I provided above are actually for BOTH mods to work. SIMMOD Lo-Reload is for summer. Ruggbutt's enhanced terrain is for winter/autumn/spring. Here's a better complete method to get them working: 1. Download and install SIMMOD Lo-Reload: http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&cid=239&lid=1387&ttitle=DCS-BS_SIMMOD_LoReload_Terrain_Mod#dldetails 2. Download and extract Ruggbutts Enhanced Terrain, but do not let it install the graphics.cfg or it will overwrite your graphics.cfg and you will lose all your mod and skin references! Just copy the texture files to the subfolders manually: http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&cid=239&lid=1258&ttitle=DCS-BS_Enhanced_Terrain_Mod_v1.02#dldetails 3. Install Dragon's airbase textures with modman last. Or any other airbase texture you would like. Now, if there's anyone with spare time, you could create a modman package to do all of the above, and load it onto lockonfiles. As you can see from the forum on lockonfiles, the mods were there but nobody knew how to use them. Lockonfiles mod uploaders could do better to explain how to install the files and which graphics.cfg entries to use, even so, I appreciate the work of the mod creators :thumbup: Cheers Taipan1 point

I have to disaggree, I have never really had a desire to fly Russian equipmnet, not that I find anything wrong with them, they just do not appeal to me is all. I would love to see a high model Tornado or Griffin, but my first love will allways be in Heli's and I would be very excited to see a AH-1Z or EuroTiger. Bullet1 point

IN MY OPINION No it wont make an great DCS Game. This would be because the DCS series stand for very realistic simulation of actual aircraft that have been or still are in active service. Airwolf does not fit in this profile. On a side note though, a game based on the Airwolf series could indeed be highly entertaining. Though i would not like to see it as an DCS title./1 point

Enabling Vsync prevents image tearing The image tearing is mostly noticable during high rate of turn in a hover, fast horizontal camera panning or observing a target on your 3/9 o'clock while passing by fast (target identification is almost imposible in such conditions). 2. With Vsync enabled 3D application works on constant (fixed) FPS, as hardware performance allows. See the Disadvantages for more details. Fixed FPS prevents stuttering and makes movement more smooth. Disadvantages Only FPS equal to 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 etc. of monitor refresh rate is possible e.g. in case of 60 Hz monitor refresh rates 60fps, 30fps, 20fps, 15fps, 12fps are available. Solution1: Force triple buffer but this works only in OpenGL games. For DirectX there is a tool called D3D Overrider but it rarely works. I tried it for BS and it didn't. You can also try http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=60591 Solution2: Pick refresh rate which will give you 1/1, 1/2 or 1/3 of monitor refresh rate closer to your target FPS. You can do a simple spreadsheet with three graphs to assist you. Not much room for maneuvers here, as you can see...1 point
