The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to a "Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was during the great fire of 1666. The Scots raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards" They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the frontline in the British army for the last 300 years. The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide". The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralysing the country's military capability. It's not only the French who are on a heightened level of alert. Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout loudly and excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides." The Germans also increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose". Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels . The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy. Americans meanwhile are carrying out pre-emptive strikes, on all of their allies, just in case. And at a local level... New Zealand has also raised its security levels - from "baaa" to "BAAAA!". Due to continuing defense cutbacks (the airforce being a squadron of spotty teenagers flying paper aeroplanes and the navy some toy boats in the Prime Minister's bath), New Zealand only has one more level of escalation, which is "Shit, I hope Australia will come and rescue us". In the event of invasion, New Zealanders will be asked to gather together in a strategic defensive position called "Bondi". Australia , meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be right, mate". Three more escalation levels remain, "Crikey!', "I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend" and "The barbie is cancelled". So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level .4 points

Staff Sgt. Mike Panula prepares an F-16 Fighting Falcon for a full-afterburner engine run up at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, Dec. 31. During the run up, mechanics stay vigilant for faulty parts and, after the run up, will fix them on the spot. Panula, a native of Duluth, Minn., is deployed to the 332nd Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron from the Minnesota Air National Guard's 148th Fighter Wing. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. R1 is an export version and is not in service in Russian AF. The E versions are designed to do the same as R and T, but with less approach time. The missile was made in Russia, only the seeker was made in Ukraine. RVV-AE. There is no R-77 now.2 points

Hi, I just recently "Re-installed" F-C 1.0 and all of the official add-ons...No MOD-MAN...Or LUA-Script MODs...Funny how "NO missiles lock" and or track... STRANGE??? I dont trust F-C-1.0...anymore, hackers playground...1 point

Yes, and if you trade a few million for a Ka-52 sim, I'm sure you'll get it, too. Until you can make that sort of trade, you're a customer ... as in you trade money for what is produced. You have the right to demand anything you like, but you have no right to have your demand met just for the asking :) It isn't. Ka-52 was never produced to function in this role. Yes, it was envisioned to take this role on originally, but the Ka-52 as actually, factually produced is a full-out replacement for the Ka-50. The Ka-50 is over and done with. Further, data on the Ka-52 is currently unavailable in its entirety, AFAIK, and without this sort of data ED will not make a simulation of the Ka-52 no matter how much you want them to. Unless you have the aforementioned few mil lying about and you're able to swing a contract with Kamov and Russian Air Force for all this. Currently ED has other contracts - you know, paying contracts, customers that pay more than you (I know, it hurts, but that's how the economy works, right? Don't worry, it sucks for me too - my fave plane isn't being modeled next) have asked for specific aircraft. Sorry to be blunt, but that's pretty much all there is to it.1 point

We don't have perfect data on this, but we do have some reasonable indications. For example, we have great data on flight physics (ie missile speeds, ranges, etc). On guidance, not so much. We know that successive generations are better (more Pk) and approximately by how much. While attempting to model this requires some guesswork, our only other option is to model F-86 v MiG-15 :D If you want modern A2A you have to be ready to accept some guesswork that leads to the following results: - Missile parameters same or similar comparatively to what data is available - Missile Pk similar to historical missile Pk under same circumstances (where available) but possibly ignoring malfunctioning missiles (who the heck wants to push a button and launch nothing in a game? :) ) - Pilot reaction to missile launch same as what a real pilot describes his reaction would be The last point might lead to a necessity of over-modelling missiles, since a vPilot will not fear for his life - so you have to punish him for not flying realistically. This is a result of simulation that we must all cope with: People are just playing a game.1 point

Ok 1st of all welcome to the forums. 2nd, Aircraft and Helicopters fly very different and you should not try to make comparisons. 3rd, the flight controls and names used to describe things are different, for a reason, because they work different as opposed to an aircraft. So, how does an Helicopter fly? 1st off the cockpit whit the flight controls. (take a look at the image) Lets start whit the pedals (B), these are used to control a helicopters Yaw (rotation about the helicopter his vertical axis,) Then there is the Cyclic (A), this is used to control a helicopters Pitch and Roll (pitch is forward and backward movement, Roll is SIDEWAYS movement) Last, there is the Collective ©, this is used to move the helicopter along its Vertical axis. (climb and decent.) To make a helicopter fly you ALWAYS need to combine the above mentioned controls. Especially while turning, a helicopter wont turn whit out using the pedals. (unless you bank it more the 70 or so degrees but then strange things start to happen when you lvl off again) Then there are the throttle levers (D), these control the helicopters power SETTING, while flying you should have those set at AUTO you wont actively use them in flight. (image taken from a paper i had to make for school, subject was the propulsion of a helicopter:D if you want to know more about how a helicopter fly's let me know, but it might get a little complicated then.1 point

That's kind of my point, you need to set it up. IMO if you have to tell the AI exactly what to do and when to do it, it isn't AI. The AI engine should be able to carry out missions without the mission designer spending 3 hours essentially scripting the events. As the moment the AI cannot cope with anything unexpected, they should be able to react to a pop up SA-6 and successfully attack it, at the moment they can't. I mean why on earth would they choose to engage an active SA-6 battery with AGM-65 from low level when they have AGM-88 and are flying at 30,000ft?1 point

All right, well listen now. Who should we call?... *Who* should we call, Dmitri? The... wha-whe, the People... you, sorry, you faded away there... The People's Central Air Defense Headquarters... Where is that, Dmitri?... In Omsk... Right... Yes... Oh, you'll call them first, will you?... Uh-huh... Listen, do you happen to have the phone number on you, Dmitri?... Whe-ah, what? I see, just ask for Omsk information...1 point

I get what you are trying to say (your joke). Extending on that idea though I have some FYI. These not exact figures, but close enough High-value A2A Number of F-15 produced: around 1500 (shown as ~1500) Number of Su-27 produced: ~700 Low-value A2A Number of F-16 produced: ~4500 Number of MiG-29 produced: ~1600 Naval Number of F-18 produced: 1480 Number of Su-33 produced: 24 Attack Helo: Number of AH-64 produced: 1158 Number of Ka-50/52 produced: 26 Ok, the exact numbers of variants and sub-variants will change these figures, but certainly not enough to appreciably change the balance (and aircraft of US and Russian allies of other types are also excluded). So, the realistic scenario is actually to have more F-15s and F-16s with better electronics, weaponry and logistics against fewer Su-27 and MiG-29 with fewer advanced weapons (and with likely lower reliability in use). The games we have now are balanced by scenario designers (which is a good thing so everyone can enjoy it!) in terms of numbers of platforms. In real life this is not a likely scenario at all. Please accept this so we can move on. So, my point is, folks here are complaining about minor variations in engine thrust or missile seekers for their various favourite platforms while deliberately ignoring "The Elephant in the Room" - the fact that the colossal economy of the USA not only produced arguably better stuff for its specialised purpose (USAF has more aircraft specialised for particular tasks), but also a significantly larger quantity of it. You all accept this unrealistic aspect of the game without thinking much about it - which makes sense since the game is much more fun that way - but then why do you all insist on bickering over small aspects that ED have recognised as being incorrect and been moved to be more slightly more realistic ? (without being really 'real' which would give the crushing dominance you would expect in real life). I for one am looking forward to missiles with more restricted parameters. That way we have to get closer for a kill which is much more exciting. Shame we won't get seeker slew rate limitations and a whole bunch of other stuff that I guess is too much of a pain to model, but as a developer I understand the trade-offs completely (not everyone can afford the latest and greatest hardware). I feel sorry for the ED developers who get bad (and badly informed) comments no matter what they try to do - the upside is, at least they make products with passionate users.1 point

No it is not, so you are right. It is in the "DCS-BS_Key_Commands_Ka-50_real_eng.pdf" that is on "Doc" folder in the main Ka-50 folder. That was what I was talking about. And yes, read all the documentation or learn how to do a proper search on the forums. And don't laugh... It's not my problem but some day we'll see 15 topics about the same thing in this forum. This thread delivers. Whether its the hilarious Engrish skills or the raging this one should be stickied. You would figure after 17 pages someone would actually get an idea but I guess not. Next time I fly I am definitely spamming AMRAAMs even more than I do now just to spite my opponent.1 point

Viper, pls dont talk me about war. Maybe you enjoy to hear for every new war... me not. About wich "rapid domination" you talk? Send 8x 120c and run? Send 120c from 96km and kill? Explain me pls how is possibile 120c kill someone from 96km??? But this is Lockon and you guys exploit game, a lot of f15c pilots. And all of you say Zerol exploit game when kill f15c... and i ask you WHAT ABOUT F15C EXPLOIT? What about kill from 96km??? And i wanna to say, name on my screen is hiden and this is only example how f15c pilot sleep in own perfect plane, some computer will do all for him. Maybe ED can do something for sweet dreams f15c pilots?. Su27 pilot MUST USE BRAIN if wanna kill f15, because F15 send CRAZY 120C and dont think where is enemy because 120c will find him in 99% cases in lockon. And im not say "THAT PILOT", im say "MANY f15 PILOTS join..." and priority for f15 guys is go high and fire 8x 120c (in many times randomly). For the end: I apologies for my screen if it hurt f15c fan club. @Sven: We got your msg and see ya  Im out from this f15c fun club, see ya and remeber: FALL FROM 17000 IS TO LONG... The only F-15 specific improvements are: IFF Cue on HUD (hallelujah, it was about time) Correction of MIL thrust at high altitude (MIL, not AB. Get it?) There seem to be a bunch of you who would like to blow this out of proportion because you either have no clue, or you have an agenda - or both. Missile tweaks have been applied or are being applies as equally across the board as possible. With that in mind, thread locked.1 point

Quoting Scart from Russian side of the forums. Perhaps you should do more research about F-15C being 1/3 of what it is... :music_whistling: The point everyone of you is missing is the fact that it is impossible to create a REALISTIC performance of any jet. This is military tech, things aren't exactly kosher in terms of availability of information, judgment calls have to be made, assumptions on how certain systems perform, and guess what even peer pressure is also a factor. Availability of documents on the US side is far more open than for example on the Russian side. Unlike the US, Russian military companies didn't bother to "advertise" to the public to gain support/financial investments, and only now they are learning to do so. While in the US every time I ride the metro and pass by the Pentagon there are full blown advertisements about F-35s, Tankers and other BS... guess what, do you really honestly think they are advertising 100% factual specification? So, my point is that in every single decision that is made in order to so called bring "reality" to the game there is a judgment call that is made... and that judgment call can go a long way towards overdeveloping one or the other and this effects both sides. The way I see it, and like someone has previously noted, a bunch of F-15 fanboys got together and started flooding ED with various documentation in order to make F-15C better. Great, what we have now is an AIM-120C that entered service in like 96, and based on some sources a variation of it (C5 or whatever) only entered service in 2000... and other various improvements. For example, can someone here with certainty say what engines are currently equipped to the SU-27s? SU-33s? SU-27SMs? that are currently serving in the Russian airforce? Nope, (was actually an argument earlier on the Russian forums) lack of documentation. Can someone with certainty say what algorithm the 27R, 27ER follows to account for maneuvering targets and chaff? Nope, lack of documentation. Can someone with certainty tell us AIM-120C's characteristics? that is currently in service?? Besides "oh its better" "oh its 20-30% faster and has longer range"? Judgment calls are made, and if you are hoping for a world of realism in simulating military systems, all it is is hope... sorry. Go ahead rep me into the negatives, seems to be a popular thing to do around here, for stating my opinion... kthx.1 point

S! All :) Hmmmm.... nice topc ("wild, wild west) First i wanna call GG on HL to show you what is reall lockon, and what is the power of su27 and trash of F15C. I dont know who you are but you are for me only target on my HUD, just like as Pilotaso and many more cosmonauts and come closer baby. That cosmonauts, any of them are not real lockon fighter and dont know what is team work. @ ED - your BIG MISTAKE is your beta testers. Pls post all names here and we will told you who is real pilot from lockon and you will know how you make lockon better after that! :music_whistling: ... but i respect your choice. Now i will show you one of f15c pilot from last RedFlag in 2009. I just wanna show how many ppl dont know fly any plane but know join the game, chose f15c, 8x 120c annnnnnd IM GOD, IM DANGEROS, I HAVE MY F15C = FIGHT ON. :megalol: :helpsmilie: I respect only f15c pilots fotm 104th, because these guys know what is the team work. All lone wolfs like as Pilotaso, im sure in one THING: You are not team player, you dont know fly in formation, you fly alone far away from fight in the cosmos and wait your victim to send 120c and run hehehe. RUN TO HILLS form 15000!!!:music_whistling: Why you (not only you Pilo, i told to all f15 pilots... but you are simbol of COSMOS in LOMAC) dont join in SHORT RANGE FIGHT??? ANSWER: YOU ARE NOT FIGHTERS. :pilotfly: Su27 is not dead GG. Try learn here GG http://vayu-sena.tripod.com/exercise-cope-india-vayu.html , http://vayu-sena.indianmilitaryhistory.org/pix/Su-30_HUD_F-16_Cope_India.jpg   =SE=, <51> and Russian pilots will kick f15c ass always. BE CAREFUL!!! Last RedFlag is show you all f15 pilots ;). S! =SE=Falcon, SU27 FOREVER P.S. sry on my english1 point

This thread shows us what will happen when we get the first DCS Fighter Modules. I think most people aren't interested in realism. They are interested in having their favourite plane a equal chance against whichever opponent....1 point

Lol. Too bad your "military intelligence" didn't tell you that it was "extra" aircraft for the F-22 program was canceled and there there are 187 F-22s *already* built or planned to waste taxpayer dollars. Incidentally, the most powerful aircraft out there in terms of killability is the actually the 747 Anti-Ballistic Missile platform which can kill any aircraft/missile optically or thermally visible within around 200 km. Its no fighter but can waste anything else in the air. For the Russian fans of their stealth fighter. Mega yawn. Considering your prototype is taking its first flights only recently you are quite behind the technological times and your government can't afford very many (certainly not 187). Stop being gimps about this on these forums. You are a significant regional power now not a global one. Britain, France, Germany, Spain, etc ... had to make the transition from global power to regional ones. It is inevitable that this will happen to you given your relatively poor economy and Rule of Law etc. (which discourages global investors). So please stop wasting money on weapons as is not particularly clever. Spend money on social programs, infrastructure, fighting corruption and also play to your awesome strengths in science and culture. Then the world will sit up and take more notice of you - not with unsophisticated Cro Magnon knob-swinging braggadocio. With regards to the UFO debate etc. Amusing but pretty off-topic. I guess we're all tired of other silliness in these threads with people coming out with daft comments based on an incomplete understanding of relative flight envelopes and aerodynamics of real aircraft (possibly from listening to breathless propaganda from governments, aerospace companies, and the barely-informed mass media). However, ED forums and software have always been striving for improving the fidelity of simulations and the understanding of their users. Perhaps we shouldn't go too far with the tongue-in-cheek stuff as it cheapens the other good stuff in this thread. It's ok to be wrong as heaps of people on these forums will post and correct your understanding, provided the debate doesn't get skewed too far off-topic.1 point
