Here is the SOP I put together using documentation I found from the A-10 weapon school (A1.6 (U), USAF and Joint Operational Brevity Words.)2 points

Hello, Thanks. In this video is an Ukranian Trenazser cockpit that use an LCD behind the front panel and use 26V for their electronics. Instead of the real Mig-21 that use 24,5V when it use their own generator. (not on APA). So it's much faded and low lighted in the real.. But if you have a good pics about it please send me.. I have many pics and videos from the real Mig-21Bis that taken by some pilots last week. Unfortunately I can't posted it due it's showing and contain several "confidental" equipment. See the attached example that's taken last week from the maximum bright cockpit!!!!. The end of the left panel has a service lamp connector that used by the techician and the pilot during the take-off preparation if they hadn't enough light condition for it.. I have a daily contact with many HuAF mechanicer who maintaned this aircraft type. And one of my friend is still fly on Mig-21Bis as well. So my knowledge based on the real things.. :-) The real Bis has an adjustable night lights and the pilots use this lamp the followings sequence: 1.) All lamps is on Max during the take-off preparation and during taxi. 2.) 4 big red lamps set to Mid during the taxi. The other lamps still in Max. 3.) Before take-off 4 big red lamps set to Min or Off. The other lamps set to min as well due it produce a very big reflection in the canopy glass... 4.) After take-off 4 big-red lamps set to Off, the other's set to min or Off in they have a clear nightsky condition, if not it remain Min set.. By the way the Bis has 4 subtype and 28 cockpit variant so everything is possible... I try to implement this night things based on the real examples as much as possible :-)2 points

Abbreviated version with images (Portrait Format/ Print at 50% and stick to inside of canopy) These documents are provided as is, they help me, they might help you too. Range and Altitude information is from the internet as are the mini images. These will be part of my Touch IR profile if I ever figure out how to export it properly... Happy hunting.1 point

Updated 2/9/15 Operation Nunchuck: This is a combined operation from the ground and air. The 66th Armor Division has taken the city of Kutaisi. They are now gearing up to take the airfield. I just bought a A-10C copy today just because I can't wait anymore to star playing the Hog... I bought it directly from ED's page because, as many of you, I think we need to support this games series.... and altough I haven't played the A-10C yet my experience with the shark and all the videos about the A-10C available in youtube tells me that this DCS module worth every cent... so much that as soon as I can I'll buying the boxed version too.... Thanks to ED Team :thumbup:1 point

This is a skin I'm working on ond I thought I'd post a couple of shots. I'm not quite finished with it, but it's almost there. This is represents one of the two ACC East Demo team aircraft flown by Maj. Dylan "Habu" Thorpe. Obviously, it's not entirely correct, since the demo aircraft have a few less pylons and a couple of other modifications, but... since I can't change the model, it'll have to do for now! If there's any interest in it, I'll upload it when I'm done. I'm still fiddling with the chrome texture on the GAU-8. I'll probably do the ACC West team aircraft as well. UPDATE: I've finished the East & West Demo Teams skins and will upload them this weekend. I've added screens of the finished skins below with close-ups of the chromed GAU-8 Avengers.1 point

True that - in economics terminology - it's called "Economies of Scale" - or something like that... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economies_of_scale Defense contractors have to meet stringent criteria; and that will always cause the price per unit to be a much higher cost - that's business1 point

Frostiken, I hope you aren't seriously comparing consumer electronics with military electronics? It's like the electronics they put on spacecraft - 200k dollars gets you the processor for a system with a single 200MHz RISC core that can support up to 256MB of RAM... When it comes to this type of gadgetry, something like 95% of the pricetag isn't manufacture, it's the rediculous amount of testing required to ensure you get something that meets specification - and of course the specialized development required, development costs that then has to be spread on relatively few units. If you have to develop a processor that meet X specification, and you then is only going to sell a couple thousand of them... It will get rediculously expensive. If Apple developed the iPod and then decided to only sell 2000 of them, each of those iPods would have cost several hundred thousand dollars too - and they wouldn't even be hardened for anything nor pass the Q/A we're talking about...1 point

What ED needs to add is the ability to start a mission on foot, and the ability to get in and out of the aircraft without ejecting. The basic structure is there- a pilot that can walk around, and the ability to get into a vehicle and drive it around. So make it so that we can start the mission on foot, and walk to our aircraft, give it a pre-flight check, and then get in. That would be SA-WEET! This would take some significant changes to the way missions work, probably an improvement to the pilot controls (a first person pilot view, maybe, with FPS-style movement controls?), compatibility with multiplayer, some other significant engine changes, and certainly some things I haven't thought of, so it would be no small thing to do, but at the same time, some of the basic capabilities seem to be there already, so it's at least part-way done already. So add a section to the controls. Right now we have Sim and Game controls, add a "First Person" controls. That's where you could adjust things like which keys to move forward, back, side-to-side, mouse sensitivity, etc, and maybe in the future at some point, where you could change which key you want to reload your Colt 1911/Beretta with :) I think Apache pilots carry M4s stowed somewhere in the cockpit, so if we had something like DCS: Apache, we could get some real guns :) This would especially awesome if we had an F-18, and we could walk to our jets after spending time in the briefing room. I don't care if the corridors and other navy personel inside the carrier look and move like something out of Duke Nukem 3D, it would still be beyond awesome to just be able to walk to your jet and get in and out rather than just spawn in it.1 point

Yeah you're probably right, i haven't visited that area of the world so i don't know in what condition the roads are in :)1 point

Thanks for the headsup. This looks like very high quality work which I will keep an eye on for the VAD charts as you suggest. Hopefully the overall file size will not be prohibitive for putting them in my profile.1 point

__________________1 point

I walked right up to some paratroopers after crash landing near them and ejecting. One of the guys used up ALL his ammo shooting my plane that was sitting on the ground. I walked up to him, and turns out, he doesn't even have a real gun. He was just holding his empty hands around an imaginary gun - that somehow shot real bullets. Maybe it was just an invisible gun? Seems silly to use such advanced top secret cloaking technology to make the gun invisible, but not the soldier holding it. Hmm. At any rate, I started to walk to the other paratrooper on the other side of the bridge, who hadn't shot my plane, and he never fired at me. So, I don't think the enemy AI with their invisible guns see you, outside of your plane, as a threat. Also, when I stepped onto the bridge, I fell through it into the water below. Obviously, the enemy also has hologram technology and it was merely an projected image of a bridge that I tried to walk onto.1 point

I have tried, before using Helios, with a Portrait setup, just using my middle and bottom touch screen. If you run this as a main screen and the touch screen as an extended display in windows setup and then within the sim run in windows mode, you can use the touchscreen in game in the natural way. That is very immersive as you can TrackIR look around and it's easy to see and touch to impliment anything in the cockpit. It's just such a shame that as soon as you inlcude the side monitors in any setup, you then cannot restrict the touchscreen calibration to just that monitor. Or at least I've not been able to.1 point

I guess that's cool for hiding from, I dunno, high-flying eagles (of all sorts), but wouldn't you stick out like a sore thumb against the sky when viewed from below? Looks cool though.1 point

The steam version is identical to the version off this site. You can reinstall as many times as you like - only an OS change or a major hardware change will require an activation. A few things to try...... Please try the specific DirectX and VisualC++ in my sig. If you friend is using a 32bit OS please point him to the /3gb tweak in my sig also. Also if you could put your DXdiag report (see sig again) as an attachment to you next post I'll take a look. Also try deleting C:\Users\<User Name>\Saved Games\DCS Warthog - start DCS and then post the DCS.log from C:\Users\<User Name>\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Logs after it fails to load the mission. Im wondering if its AI A-10s or actual player flown Hogs. If I remember right that wasnt a multiplayer clip but a single player scenerio. EA has been pretty close Lipped about aircraft in the game and as far as I have seen only F-18s, a MIG-29, and several rotaries have been established so far. I hope the A-10 is included however.1 point

I guess, just adding such a replacement dll (and therefor digging up all the exported functions) might actually be some breach of their IP, if that's so we shouldn't even try it. If we ask them if it's ok we replace some dll, that might still not be so easy if the function parameters are of ED classes etc, having to reverse engineer that hmm..Then finding the right place where to actually do the drawing/painting .....:P........not so easy ^^ Anyway, Im off for a week. Going to russia to drink Vodka ^^1 point
