Please help me fire a maverick. I'm trying to fire an IR via TV and DMT. Gone through the check list 100x. Attached screen shot to show the cockpit state where I think I need only pickle, but no weapon release for me. Note that although the screenshot shows 11.1m to target, closer ranges do not help, in fact what I believe is the lock symbol disappears when close. Playing with Open Beta. Using Redkite Harrier tutorial mission and Syds's checklist, which does match others I've read. EDIT: Seems I'm not identifying when Mav is locked. Still trying to figure this out.

Thanks for your responses. I might skip Argo and Worlds Apart for now. I hear Worlds Apart is more hard core as well, which might interest purists more than my casual play. That campaign looks interesting @astonmartindbs, thanks for sharing. Oh for save game / save points / rewind & resume. :| Life is too short to repeat repeat.

For those who've played the Argo campaign, what are the mission transit times like? I'm considering buying the campaign but am concerned about the transit times and mission durations. I have perhaps 30-60min free time slots to play a mission. I'm up to about mission 7 in the UN Campaign at present. Finding the missions take >1hr with time acceleration. Most of that time is spent flying to and from objective, worse, the last few missions require formation flying which is erratic with AI pilots changing speeds and altitudes. If I make one mistake, I must repeat the whole mission. I'm more of a causal player.

Exactly what I wanted to do. All those cockpit lights with independent controls. Would be nice if aircraft provider simply provided more binding options. If some purist doesn't like it, thinking it's cheating, they can simply not use it.

7 years later, I play for the first time and encounter the same issue. Missions 4 and 5 have my ADF needling pointing in the wrong direction, or at least out by some amount. Heading home, I've double checked 477 mhz and do find a strong signal there, but it wants to take me to an airfield miles to the west. After reading through all these posts, I still don't see a solution apart from use the map and locate the marked location (easier for home base, less for other), or try other frequencies. I didn't find any close frequencies like the 350 vs 353, which was my first instinct to check. Radio compass is also calibrated, though I'm not sure if that changes ADF needle direction or just the compass rose.

I would like to see more input binding options. Specifically, more single button toggles and cycles. For example, I'd like a Master Arm (Off, Safe, On) cycle. It already has Arm Increase, Arm Decrease. I believe some of these controls do cycle or toggle with mouse button, but can't be bound like that. Another example is Spotlight: Spotlight has On, Stow, should also have Spotlight Toggle. To assist toggles and cycles, an optional momentary text message (or voice chirp) telling of the new state would help. This is not unrealistic at all in that in real cockpit you have wide peripheral vision and physical touch as well as a copilot. So a little user interface assistance is not effectively cheating at all.

That explains why, by the time I got 2 day free trial of the Persian Gulf map, it was no longer on sale :(
