Mission 14 { PSBLE Spoiler }
DimSim replied to Palmtask's topic in F/A-18C Raven One: Dominant Fury campaign
Appear to be having some issues with M14. Long version. No problem with Olive refueling first, per other thread. No problem with SAR mission called. I spot a camp and say I will attack. After that, no further events or communications occur, friendly flights fly in endless circles. It is possible I've messed something up and also possible the camp I spotted is the wrong one, this one is close to the crash site with towers and parked trucks. EDIT: After watching another player on YouTube, I see the enemy camp I triggered by F10 was not the one I spotted, so the mission was likely waiting for me to attack a different location. -
Just got the same error message: 2025-03-16 10:21:00.674 ERROR SCRIPTING (Main): Mission script error: [string "StaticObject.getByName('Static F-14B-1-1'):destroy()..."]:1: attempt to index a nil value stack traceback: [C]: ? [string "StaticObject.getByName('Static F-14B-1-1'):destroy()..."]:1: in main chunk I thought it may have been caused by another anomaly that occurred... When the enemy fighters turned suddenly, one crashed into my wingman I believe. (Actually, now reading the message, perhaps the replacement CAP flight hit a deck F14 at launch, just guessing.) The mission continued and completed successfully though. Also, I did notice this was the first mission where the new Spacebar message / choice system was not implemented. Previous missions had been updated in my current play through.

Absolutely no guarantees, but it's also possible you may have years of enjoyment from this product before its fate becomes final. There are great campaigns and missions to fly right now.
-
Okay, thanks. I must have had a radar lock and imagined I'd selected from the SA.
-
I'm sure I've done this in the past, but can't figure it out now... I'd like to track a friendly aircraft by selecting it from the SA page via the data link. This should display a target indicator (arrow) and box when visible on the HUD. All this without using radar. Was I imagining this, or how do I do it?

When playing night missions with dark sky, it's nearly impossible to read the I/R Space choice UI that appears. If possible, please add some contrast to work in all conditions. I also can't find any reference to how this system works in the PDF documentation. Perhaps it was explained in the first mission itself? If so, I missed the change, because I happened to buy the campaign way back when first released, played a few missions then got side tracked with work & life and abandoned it until now, so had not seen that UI before.

Just wanted to say thanks for the campaign. I enjoyed it a lot. Was hesitant to buy another Hornet campaign only because it's the plane I've flown the most and was getting a bit tired of it. But I do have the urge to pound ground and was delighted to not fly from the boat for a change. I try to keep a list of issues to report but encountered nothing worthy of mention here. So can report the campaign is in good working order. I see you've kindly released the start of a Falkland Harrier campaign, so I look forward to getting airborne again.

I'm here pondering the same question. Wondering if perhaps it's possible to use a Markpoint or create a Waypoint but not target designate it, just to show an indicator on HUD or HMCS to help when target point is not easily visible for a manual CCIP drop.

It appears this is a Syria map issue, not a F18 module issue. Best work around is to de-center and double the range, which the display actually shows. Thanks Hulkbust44.

Hope it doesn't offend anyone to post a tube. But seeing the bird in flight is inspiring. The stabilized camera view somehow makes DCS rendition look pretty accurate.
-
Yes. Jet is working and there's plenty of great missions and campaigns for it. It's also a really fun jet to fly and fight with.
-
I'm flying a Syria campaign at present and would like to use the moving map above 10nm range, even 20nm would be helpful. Is there a way to force the moving map at higher scales? Forum search shows some other forum topics, but some are closed or don't seem to give a final answer on this. eg.

I struggled to spot the tower as well, and never did while actually playing the mission, just managed to get the IP call correct eventually. I even watched a few YouTubes to see where it was. Tubers seemed to struggle to spot it also, but at least one did, even if they didn't call it out. I've captured a screen shot to show. Look for the white and red tower in the trees, lower right side of screen. I was expecting the tower to be in the open on the ridge line, not further back.

Can I input MGRS into the F16?
DimSim replied to Viking 1-1's topic in DCS: F-16C The Gamblers Campaign
Was searching for this exact information. After learning the Viper a bit, I wondered if real JTAC would use LL vs MGRS since entering MGRS is just very fiddly on the viper versus other jets, almost like it was added as an after thought. Probably easier in real life. I make mistakes and take way too long entering coords this way. But good to know you're done the research and tried to keep it real. -
GBU-12 no EFUZ setting when loading 8 GBU-12
DimSim replied to darkstarRAF's topic in Bugs and Problems
If I load the F-18 Missions -> Weapons Practice - Paveway II Laser Guided Bombs (Caucasus) The SMS page shows only MFUS, no EFUS for these weapons. -
Feedback on freedom
DimSim replied to TwofaceLoatheb's topic in A-10C Operation Persian Freedom Campaign
Forgot to say I quite enjoyed using different air fields through the campaign, and the practicality of moving somewhat closer to the action rather than extending flight times. -
The Mirage 2000 was the 2nd plane I bought and I liked it a lot. Still do. It came out of early access some time ago, so is about as feature complete as any other module. It is currently well usable and has multiple single player campaigns available, in fact it comes bundled with a lot of content compared to other modules. It's actually a very nice plane to fly, and while primarily air-to-air, is capable of air to ground action as well, which keeps things interesting. I believe we've already seen one recent fix despite the business conflict, the far future is unknown, but the future is unknown for everything. I was the lucky sod who purchased MS Flight two weeks before that product was canceled by Microsoft many years ago. I still got a lot of good flying out of it.

Feedback on freedom
DimSim replied to TwofaceLoatheb's topic in A-10C Operation Persian Freedom Campaign
Since I just finished the campaign, I'll tag onto this thread as well... I enjoyed this campaign a lot. The story was engaging and voice acting excellent. I did cheat a bit with invincible and occasional active pause because I haven't flown the A-10 in a long time and I'm rubbish at dodging SAMs. That turns campaigns more into an interactive movie without frustrating repeats. The missions were fun and I can see how you've evolved and improved your mission design with your later campaigns. I do like the optional secondary objectives and side missions based on remaining fuel, weapons, time and stress levels. As with your other campaigns, I do like the optional radio chatter even if not realistic. Thanks for making this campaign. I'm probably most looking forward to another Harrier campaign in South Atlantic. Misc feedback from my play-though: 1) PDF documentation does not tell of aircraft load out. In game doc does. Would have been nice to see in advance when reading the mission briefing that way. 2) Not sure if behavior is as documented, but I like the scoring or acceptable failure of the newer campaigns where not observing correct ATC or startup is merely a point loss, not a mission failure. I did follow most instructions, so never put it to the test. 3) Would have liked less locked down map options so player could enable player location on map if desired. With a moving map, it's harder to get lost in the A-10. I probably would have enjoyed watching other planes and weapons. 4) Minor documentation inconsistency eg. Mission 4 has 8,9,10 as 15,20,10 k ft, respectively which seems unusual, expect one is out of order. Mission 6 shows waypoints labeled 'Alt (k ft)' with both 15 and 15000 5) Several radio static noises that did not stop after radio calls in Mission 6. 6) Mission 8, hard to spot BMP and T72 targets for Pri and Sec objectives. They are hidden in trees and not visible with IR white/black or EO camera. Without red dot occasionally visible at close range, I wouldn't have located them at all. Looking at YouTube of other player, vehicle positions can change and IR showed better contrast in past. Could relate to engine/movement IR visuals. 7) Inconsistency with making radio calls via F10 vs Space for outgoing calls. 8 ) Mission 14 I think Gunman 1-1 inexplicably crashed near the end, but thankfully didn't affect the mission. 9) Mission 16 Stack is above the clouds, so not possible to maintain altitude slot and spot targets before push. -
Same issue here. 269.6 and no response. Thought maybe I needed to fly toward the orange line first, but that did not help. Mission script appears to be on hold. Will re-try the mission later. EDIT: Actually I was trying the bottom radio first, only tried the new top radio after the text disappeared. I should have tried them the other way around.

Just finished Mission 8 part one. Landed with 400 pounds fuel remaining because I spent so much time orbiting trying to find the enemy. The first two mission objectives request attack on enemy units. In each case, I could not find one of those units. I eventually did, and found both were hidden in a tree/bush cluster with nothing visible. Not on IR white/black, not on EO mono/color. Looking at a YouTuber playing the same mission, I see his vehicles placed in the open and clearly visible via the TGP. I guess this is more of a DCS issue than this mission, as vehicles may possibly move, and the IR TGP seems to show stationary vehicles with no heat effect, nearly the same color as the terrain even when in the open. Here's a screenshot from my flyover. I've added an arrow. I did notice that if you look real close, or toggle the night vision goggles on and off, for a moment you can see a red pixel showing the enemy location: Again, no matter how I pointed my TGP and no matter which mode, I could not make out a vehicle in that bush/tree cluster except for the red pixel with label dots enabled. EDIT: I hesitate to mention here as it's a separate issue, but the JTAC in this mission is pedantic, and won't accept your 90 deg course unless you fly around that antenna on the hill. Adds frustration which google / forum search shows is not uncommon.

Thanks for responding. I did not save any log files. I skipped that mission rather than repeat and successfully completed Mission 6 with no problems.

Got an error and crash after Mission 5. Likely caused by DCS rather than the campaign itself. After landing on mission over, I chose Quit from the menu. The game did nothing for an unexpectedly long time, then showed message: "Can not open debriefing file" over a black background. (attached) I don't remember if I pressed OK or ESC here, but it then showed (something like) "Are you sure you want to quit, progress will be lost". I did hit ESC then, in order to re-try mission exit. After that the screen went entirely black and nothing happened. I ended up using Task Manager to terminate the app. No bug report dialog appeared.

Just started the campaign and am enjoying it. Some of the missions have had F10 menu options to direct the flight to attack primary or secondary targets. When I've tried this, I hear an acknowledgement, then nothing happens. Not once has my flight attacked anything that I know of. Since map symbols and external views are disabled, I can't tell if they are even trying. Perhaps this is a bug? I would like to let the flight attack, partly to help out, and partly to use their weapons if I've only destroyed part of a larger target group and am now low on ammo.
