  1. I'm new to the Gazelle and was surprised to find very few Instant Action missions, few training missions, and a single stand alone mission. I did see a bundled campaign, which is good. More surprising as I believe this module is mature and out of early access. It would be real nice for casual players to have at least free flight Instant Action missions for each terrain. I know I can place a player unit on the map in mission editor, but it's nicer if someone's taken the time to place some other military and civilian air, land and sea units to make demo / tour flights more interesting. If Polychop is a very small team, perhaps they could ask the community to create some free flight and basic missions for commercial release with the product. Or perhaps ask Eagle Dynamics or one of the other independent developers to provide some compatible missions which would require little more than player unit change.
  2. In the training missions eg. Weapons -> Nevada, the tutorial text does not scroll properly. It forms groups and scrolls within those groups making it difficult to read and often clipped off screen. Could be new to v2.9. I'm new to Gazelle and v2.9. DCS v2.9.0.46801 Resolution 4K, DLSS Quality, UI Scaling 1.75 Screenshot below. If it's not clear, the text accumulates but does not scroll up and off screen as expected. Instead each row group between the horizontal separator lines scrolls within that section.
  3. Confirmed fixed in v2.9
  4. Thanks @Rudel_chw I did a couple of forum searches first but didn't find that post. I did expect it should be reported as it's a big annoyance and I'm sure many people play more often than I.
  5. DCS planes no longer reset the correct cockpit FOV when pressing View 'Zoom Normal' Before: (Repro steps and previous behavior) 1) Start in cockpit, observe zoom level typically 100-100deg 2) Press Reset Zoom button, observe zoom now the normal default, typically 75-90deg Now: (Repro steps and current behavior) 1) Start in cockpit, observe zoom level typically 100-100deg 2) Press Zoom Normal button, observe zoom now the normal default, no change Work around: 3) Press LWin + num0 to view Snap1 view (Any snap view will work) 4) Press Zoom Normal button observe zoom now shows the correct default zoom This is not new to v2.9 specific, happened in recent v2.8 for some time. I don't know how long since I've been away from DCS for a while. Now with v2.9 you can press ESC -> Options -> System and read 'Current field of view'. Compare that with C:\Users\[name]\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View\SnapViews.lua And the Default slot for the aircraft you are flying. Only after the 'work around' will you see the correct value. Deleting the SnapViews.lua does not change behavior. Issue does not appear to relate to any custom views. DCS v2.9.0.460801
  6. Thank you folks, that was the issue... rearming or refueling conflicts with the ground crew startup operations. I now do recall reading or hearing that before. It would be great if the official auto start script could be updated like @=475FG= Dawger to remind user of this conflict. Rearming and refueling and auto start are all reasonable actions a player may do.
  7. Somewhat... at least two of the times I was adjusting fuel, which is part of the arm/fuel thing.
  8. Autostart can fail to complete. Expected behavior: Press autostart key and get the jet from cold start to ready to taxi state. Actual behavior: Part way through autostart, sequence ends with failed ground air message. Work around: Press autostart a 2nd time. The sequence completes successfully on the 2nd attempt. This has occurred every time for the last 3 flights for me. So highly reproducible I believe. Version: Beta, MT, v2.8.6.41363
  9. New video from @Spudknocker about setting default head position and FOV... Excellent video, and all good information, though when I tried something similar for F-5 last week, I found the FOV value displayed in the debug window matched exactly what was needed in the Lua file. The FOV value did not match the initial zoom, but the zoom after I press 'zoom reset' button. I've noticed people talk about zoom/fov a lot, but don't seem to use the zoom reset feature which does typically default to a practical flying zoom vs the more zoomed out one seen when first entering the cockpit.
  10. Probably best to buy the books, read them and do the campaigns in order while you read along (except for the latest campaign which it set after the books I believe).
  11. Ejecting from the aircraft counts as 2x ejections in the log. Repro steps: 1: View Log for F15, note ejection count 2. Instant Action -> South Atlantic -> Ready to takeoff 3. Eject 4. Quit 5. View log for F15, note ejection count is +2 Even though there are two pilots in the aircraft, the log book is for a single pilot so this looks like a bug.
  12. Finished the campaign now. It was great! The new Normandy 2 scenery really did enhanced the experience.
  13. Came looking for update on this topic. Bought the F-5 last year, planning to fly it and play a single player campaign once I've finished my F-18 and Spitfire content. Almost there. Was hoping for some improved visuals by the time I got around to serious flying.
  14. I too have not found this option to work as expected. Sometimes I enable 'unlimited fuel' but a campaign mission has that option disabled, and this setting has no effect in overriding the campaign choice. I have not tested widely other than observed this.
  15. At least in MT build, the mirror time of day does not match the mission. Also, if you try to turn the mirror off in MT, it retains the last view, not the blury-not-real-mirror effect.
  16. I'd like to know what the technical difference is between Standard and High cloud settings. I've seen both performance and visual comparisons. Visually, Low detail is clearly lower, and Ultra has a different and finer appearance, but the visual difference between Standard and High is nearly imperceptible. The performance difference between Standard and High is up to 8% frame rate, so of some significance. I'm wondering if the technical difference is something like the number of bounces or line segment occlusion tests such that lighting or shading effects are noticeable only in specific situations, such as viewing from below or within cloud, or multiple layers of cloud. If so, I'd like to see compare the visual difference in situations where the difference can be appreciated.
  17. The 'Spitfire IX The Big Show' campaign includes a Channel map mixed version (of the campaign), where 5/12 missions use Channel instead of Normandy map.
  18. Taxing the Spitfire is a challenge. After some experimentation I realized the problem is that the pilot cannot easily tell where the tail wheel is pointing. The normal solution is to move slowly, tapping brakes and observing movement, which is difficult due to the attitude while on the ground. Another solution, is to use the external camera view. Seeing the tail wheel allows easier correction, but takes away from the immersion. So I propose a new idea... Display the tail wheel on the controls indicator similar to the rudder position. That way, when enabled, the pilot can glance as the indicator while remaining in the cockpit view. In real life, pilots have a wider field of view, more ease of moving their body and head about, and the feelings of momentum and forces upon their body. This would merely provide an accessibility option for simmers, in the same way we currently check our direct controls. Perhaps this could be drawn as a dot or small circle, beneath the rudder indicator, which is only visible while on the ground.
  19. @Reflected You kindly updated some of your campaign missions to enjoy the Channel map after it was released. Now that you've updated your campaigns for Normandy 2, do you recommend using the mixed Normandy + Channel campaign, or just the updated Normandy?
  20. Cockpit flood lights do not show light in MT build only. Reported first here
  21. I recently bought the Spitfire and The Big Show campaign. I'm up to mission 4 and enjoying it. With the release of Normandy 2 today, I'm wondering, should I keep playing, or wait a bit in case @Reflected is going to release some fixes or updates relating to the modified map.
  22. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm certain that both times I was still quite far from the boat. I believe the burble effect occurs right near the threshold, or at least much closer.
  23. Thanks, I'll try to save a track next time. The HUD altimeter and trim are the unusual things, since I have crashed this and other aircraft many times I don't believe I had auto throttle engaged 1st time, and definitely did not use it at all 2nd time. Nor auto pilot (ie. attitude hold) since I was on final approach.
  24. I've tallied a hundred carrier landings, a dozen Case 3. Twice however, I've ended up in the drink for reasons I'm not so sure. It starts out looking good, still a mile from the boat, on speed and ILS looking good. Then suddenly the horizon line on the HUD moves up as if I'm about 300ft below water, and the altitude reading makes no sense. Confused, I add power and pull up. The second strange thing occurs then, the plane has auto-trimmed somehow, and I don't have enough pitch axis to counter it. After a brief battle with the aircraft, I end up in the water, well before the boat. First time I just assumed I'd somehow gotten too slow and too low, but now I'm not so sure. Sorry no recording to show. Has anyone else experienced this or have and idea what's going wrong?
  25. Just a note here that it seems the Position Lights must be on to trigger mission progress. I toggled the exterior lights but had forgotten to put position lights on. Only after turning those on did the mission progress. Strobe and Formation lights were not enough.
