    Help with skins!

Arbitrator Yes, you are right. I am wondering : originally, is there only one file nomera.tga or is there also those 2 other files (nomera-red.tga and nomera-su.tga)? Or were those added during some skin instal? ANYBODY has the original nomera-tga file and could send it to me by email please? my address is rivestjATmusique.umontreal.ca (replace AT by @) thanks many times JEFX

    Help with skins!

Thanks Brewber19 I followed your suggestion and PMed Deadman. JEFX
  3. I have a problem with Russian Aircraft's skins. I posted the problem on the BUGS forum but did not solve my problem. Here is a pic : here is the link : http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?p=337441#post337441 If anyone has an idea, thanks in advance. JEFX
  4. Well SuperKungFu, It didnt work... I found in a 8-months-old backup, that in my (nov. 2006) temptextures folders there were 3 nomera files : nomera.tga nomera-red.tga nomera-su.tga. Furthermore, I found that in my actual temptexture folder there are NO nomera files at all... I tried pasting them back in, only nomera.tga or all three of them, nothing will do, the numbers are not back. I believe that my files were already moded when I made that backup... The only thing good that it did, is that I no longer see strange empty stripes where the numbers should be, only the AC skin. Does anyone know if the process of installing some skins may have changed some other file somewhere else that tells those numers how to show? thanks JEFX
  5. Thanks SuperKungFu I will dig in my backup folders and might find the original. Will post back. JEFX
  6. Hi! I have installed and uninstalled many skins using Modman. Some skins dont seem to install (older ones) which is too bad (for example : all the older Mig-Mag SU-27 skins which were very beautiful)... After fiddling around with a lot of skins, I ended up with aircraft number markings disappearing. I tried uninstalling all skins but nothing would do (see image). Before I go and reinstall the whole program (which I dont really have time to do) does anyone have an idea? If it is only one file that is missing or that is corrupted, I may have a backup of most original files somewhere! thanks a lot JEFX
  7. For those who havent seen these, There is a few really interesting films here: after so many hours playing LO-FC and discovering russian hardware from the simulator's perspective, it is really incredible to see those machines in real action!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEULmkKbw0Y&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIoRbehPyiY&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt0ekIDUAKQ&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAdORW_1Ync&NR=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9J05XhJ-N_U&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjwIX6YVAc4&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAdORW_1Ync&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q36GYh3mt0c&mode=related&search= enjoy (sorry for those who have seen them, they are not new, I know, but I thought it would be nice for those here who are newer...) 8. Thanks Jonob66 Those are great rerefences!!!!!!!! On the tactical level, one might always imagine what is the immediate threat, and if not, one should choose the most threatening situation, according to your diagrams! thanks a lot JEFX
  9. Thanks Rich for your answer, (It didnt take so long...) I wonder how to adapt your idea to the following situation: sometimes I found that the AI sweeping ennemy aircraft, for some unknown reason, will wait a bit longer before sending its first missile. In these occasions, if I wait after he sends his first missile to send mine and try to do the described defensive manoeuver, I get nailed more often. Do you think that in these instances, I should send my missile first? thanks JEFX
  10. Sonny, If I understand you well, when you say : 'I just did a quality check by watching “Eric Prydz” (dance video)' you mean the SOUND quality? (Ah...) JEFX
  11. to Beterhans Hey Beterhans I really enjoyed your movie 'We are aces'. Bravo, very good! JEFX
  12. RE: question 1 answered! Thanks Viper This is a great archive! This guy took some time to achieve that kind of experimentation!!! JEFX
  13. Ironhand, First of all, allow me to repeat what everybody has been saying and thank you very warmly for your fantastic tutorials. They have helped me tremendously enjoy our favorite sim! I have 2 questions relative to your excellent tutorial 'Surviving the duel'. In it you explain how you rely on the number of signal strenght lights of the Beryoza system to determine the distance of the ennemy F-15. You give the following numbers : 5th light is 70km, 4th light is 60km, 3rd light is 40km and second light is 30km. I wonder if this info is available somewhere in a more systematized way, and also for other types of Aircrafts?, Would these numbers apply to a weaker Mig-29's radar or to the more powerful Flanker's radar? how about an F-16?, or a Mig-23? or Mirage 2000? etc... I would very much appreciate finding out these numbers. My second question is relative to your use of the clock. It is very interesting how you use it and I like to use it too for many purposes. How do you determine that the AIM-120 will fly for 45 seconds? It supposes that it was launched at maximum range and optimal altitude? co-altitude? how about a launch at a much higher altitude? lower? later? from another type of Aircraft-missile system? how would you use the clock in these cases? Then, how those other numbers would break down into turnign away, turning back into the bandit, launch a second missile, etc... Thanks for the infos. It is very much appreciated! JEFX
  14. Hey Rugg, Bravo for your movies! I enjoyed particularly the gunzo one, fantastic! JEFX
  15. 'forgiving...' The landings in LO are totally scripted and easy (forgiving is dead on). Except... for the AFM Frogs... There you have a real landing feeling, tire bouncing, sidewind fighting and flightsimulationblessing... JEFX
  16. thanks Hitman
  17. Ah I found the right settings disregard that post and thanks for your patience. JEFX
  18. Now, why is it not showing?
  19. Just ended up trying this finally... Wanted to see what it looks like. JEFX
  20. For me, the best SU-25T anti-column tactics is to take out the nasty vehicles first (short range SAMS such as Tor and OSA) in the column with KH-25ML because they have a better range, as pointed by Kuky, and then, use the Vikhr for AAA (ZSU-24 Shilkas) and end up flying above the column to release the cluster bombs to whipe as many as possible of the remaining vehicles. Then, fly away with erractic jinks in order to avoid possible remaining AAA, extend for more than a minute (to allow the laser designator to get ready again) and turn 180 degrees to finish the job. Of course, here I am talking about russian made hardware against russian-made hardware (in a Russia vs Ukraine scenario for example). The above mentioned tactics works so much better for me now that I have this new trackball to slew the designating piper of the Shkval, as mentioned in my other post a little earlier... JEFX
  21. man... so many typos... I better start looking when I type.... JEFX
  22. Rugg I agree with you, but I didnt want to pay so much for it as for the DT225 of the actual R200... True, the Kensigton software is not otherbrandsmousefriendly... And true, one day, I would love to have a trackball that can be incorporated in my CH global profile, but for now I am very happy, and the very idea came from you! thanks JEFX
  23. Airoscout 'but that defetes the "Hands on Throtle and Stick: concept, doesn't it?' You are right in a way, but it concerns mostly A to G with slow AC (mainly the Forg and the Hog and with both, when in the last phase of attack, you dont really need your hand on the throttle all the time... As a matter of fact, if the control of the TDC was really good in this game right on the throttle mini-stick or HOTAS button, we wouldnt need a trackball, but beleive me, it works so much metter than anything else... and it is better than a mouse because you barely need to touch the top of the big ball and you can keep your hand almost free to go back to the throttle. Of course, in AA dogfight, you would not use that, anyway you dont need to slew anything in AA combat (for AA, all the commands relative to radar control are mapped to my HOTAS : range, azimuth, radar cone elevation, pulse radar mode, or CAC modes, vertical, etc...) Anyway, it is FUN and COOL to use. JEFX
  24. A few months ago, I thing it was Rugg who posted a clear demonstration (with short movie) of his new trackball, claiming it helped tremendously to point the seekers, MFD box or reticles. He was the speaking about a (very) expensive trackball, (I think if I remember right, it was CH R200, or something similar, in the 200$+ range). At the time I enjoyed the idea (and indeed it is a very important problem in LO FC, to be able to point rapidly and precisely the reticle for quick correction of aiming of Mavs or Vikhr) but I thought it was too expensive a toy... A couple of days ago, I decided to go for it and I shopped for a VERY good trackball, but not SO expensive... I decided to go for the Kensington so called 'Expert Mouse, 4 boutons' trackball' priced a little bit below 100$. Got it a day later and LO! WOWOWOWOW, it does make an incredible difference. Now I can aim, point, move, correct and keep on target the reticle of the VIkhr for example, very easily and with great fluidity and precision. (No more pressing a button on my HOTAS and waiting half a second that the reticle starts finally moving to end up moving way too fast while I finally overshoot the target area...) On top of the incredible increase in precision, since there are 4 buttons, I assigned the most naturally placed 2 buttons to MFD zoom in and out and the other two to the target box size (+ or -),(which were on my Throttle before, in my left hand, and I have to leave the throttle to get to the trackball) since my Lock button and Pickle or Fire Buttons are in my right hand, on my stick, which I keep in hand for flight control of course. It works great. I can only recommend it to anyone finding the precision of aiming of the targeting reticle a bit sluggish in LO FC, you will not recognize it anymore, thanks to Rugg! (for this inspiration and a lot of other things). My now complete interface with the machine is (on top of keyboard and mouse): TIR4 for vision, CH combo : Fighterstick-ProThrottle-ProPedals for flying, Trackball for aiming, and Touchbuddy installed on a nice 8' diagonal touchscreen. Lockon happiness Happy Easter all JEFX
