Honestly, I wouldn't argue to have "too few" weapon options as long as there would be some that really work well. Accurate modeled bombing (CCIP/RP) and self-designated LGB dropping - hey, I'm fine! You can do a lot with this...
-
"Near future" and DCS never get along well. So, as far as I can see, unfortunately there are no official projects running.
-
Agree with that, stumbling over that as well a lot.
-
That, of course, is true.
-
Do you mean anything besides the diamon misalignment? Just in DCS or in real world aircraft? AFAIK, for example the Tornado used to deliver very accurate CCRP bombing, because that was the (whole) purpose of its development. Oh I don't think we will open the discussion here about features/functions on military aircraft which never reached the expectations or had been dumped because of no use on the operators side :book:
-
CCRP is often stated as "not that precise", so besides the misaligned diamond (didn't know that) it isn't the biggest strength of the mirage.
-
Hehe, I feel you - but honestly, I think it is easier to take it with a little humor than changing all the audio records. Besides that I even don't really understand why it is called "Piper"; ever since I know this projection as "pipper". On the other hand - when talking about a "predicted impact point - PIP" it makes sense again to call it PIPer...
-
At least not as long as the Rafale is active in french service. Soo...yeah.

I am not sure if this conclusion is correct  It is not possible with TACAN, yes, but IIRC the INS training mission stated a method that does exactly what you want - creating a "line" (track xxx°) to guide you in. This of course requires a waypoint "on the airfield" as destination, so if you don't want to program this one (either on ground or during the flight) then yes, the answer is most likely no :book:
-
Since the Mirage "only" has (a type of) RMI (radio magnetic indicator) you would have to "memorize" the course to intercept; then flying the intercept procedure and watch the needle turn towards the desired track. Then turn in towards this track and keep the needle there. Not easy without wind, quite tough with :) Just treat the TACAN approach like an ADF approach (you're familiar with that?). Maybe this graphic can clarify what I mean: https://www.aopa.org/-/media/Images/AOPA-Main/News-and-Media/Publications/Pilot-Magazine/2018/1803/1803p_pe_oninstruments1/1803p_pe_oninstruments1_16x9.jpg?h=675&w=1200&la=en&hash=492A0D96B964D21459C716CCE507CCB9 EDIT: And yes, there is the INS option.

Somewhere else there was the conclusion that there is no sense in practising dogfight vs AI - they fly outside the physical laws sometimes.. You have to go online. The "Just dogfight" Server is a good starten point.
-
@virulosity: I would like to highly recommend you "Growling Sidewinder" on Youtube, if you don't already know the channel. He does a lot of dogfights with different aircraft and a Tacview analysis in the end - I learnd a lot there!
-
That's why you have the Snake Eye bomb...may the force be with you:thumbup:
-
The INS is seen to be a little buggy (continously). What is exactly the problem you are facing? There are in fact training missions for every aspect you mentioned included in the module.
-
I have no idea how the scoring system actually works, but I could imagine a lot of factors: - your timing in general; the mission time stamps for taxi, t/o etc. - "flow" of changing frequencies, response times on COMs - fuel saving - this campaign states this quite often IMHO, "keep speed at x knots to safe fuel" etc. So maybe it is not just about "scoring" (seeing/killing faster & accurate) but also about "efficiency"?
-
Just guessing: does it matter to spot the Crash site etc before your wongman does? At least that could be measured as Player performance...
-
I am quite new to multiplayer in DCS, but I would agree - it belongs to server settings. There are people saying the Mirage is buggy in multiplayer; either this is true or the various servers have quite different settings (I don't know which parameters the host can set)... EDIT: Concerning NAV lights, watch some videos from the Grim Reapers and sometimes there are 10 guys flying around, dogfighting etc. and everyone is blinking/flashing like a christmas tree. So yes, I think this is rather a server default setting than an oversight by all pilots.
-
Absolutely! +1

That is quite true. Although, honestly: "Normal" (IFR) flying etc. is not the feature that is in focus for me when flying DCS. It is important, yes, because it contributes a lot to the overall picture. But it is a COMBAT simulator so I want most accurate "weapon delivery" :smartass: For accurate IFR procedures etc. I run X-Plane (you will find your sophisticated Cessna there, by the way :)) PS: Yes, I like "simple" planes as well - don't need a radar, or a MFD, just a CCIP mode for bombing would be appreciated. IR missiles maybe...done!
-
Yeah well...fuel costs in the US have never been an issue :megalol:
-
Ha, ran into the same issue. So we are waiting for the fix. And YES - THANKS for creating this! The immersion is great.
-
I could imagine this unfamiliarity is caused by the quite different design approach compared to common US fighter aircraft and their "simulation" in flight sims over the last years/decades. The "gear down = activate ILS for me!" feature sounds familiar to me thinking of sims like Janes USAF etc. - I don't know if F-16 etc. behave like this?
-
This works a bit better...should take care a little more of the training sorties I guess... I know it is not a "fighter" but at least the CC is intended for some light strikes (what I like the most) so even for this it feels sometimes quite underpowered :smilewink:
