  4. thanks!
  5. That's what I do, but if I then move the seeker it wanders until it auto-locks on a target. In the vid it seemed the movement was more user-controlled?
  6. How do you get the Mav ground stabilized? When I move the Mav it starts wandering around ...
  7. Oh Oh ... F-35 discussion has erupted in Belgium also ... we will be hearing all those crap counter-arguments all over again. Sigh.
  8. It would be interesting to study this question seriously and try to map for the European borders of Russia/CIS the number of (strike)fighters deployable on both sides. We should also discuss what is a meaningful range. Do we count French airforce into the pack? Or only the northern and central european defense line? Do we include UK assets that can go pretty far on the North Sea? There are also Nato airplanes protecting the baltics. I guess the EURFORCES have a lot of Gripen, EF2000, advanced F-16's, Hornets equipped with at least AIM-120B and in many cases AIM-9X/Iris T/Asraam, and some good strikers. I guess also on the Russian side apart from the Flankers the growing numbers of SU-34 and the upgraded SU-24 are a strike force to count with, not too deep in Russia. I'm not sure Mig-31 is meant for/ nearby the European theatre? The biggest problem for air power is that integrated air defenses on both sides are quite impressive.

Am I right the vertical ADI indicator (ie the horizontal bar) is still not working?
  10. I do not seem to have any problems with the Rockeye's? Do they behave differently to the CBU's?

  12. Smoking is bad for your health, really. I'll see if this guy can help me out also with the Strela :=)
  13. Please stay on topic: http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20130828-907639.html
  14. The Su-25 with 6DOF, cockpit shadows and the adjustable prism glass is freakin' awesome! Incredible sim fun! I'm an absolute fan of all those classic dial instruments. And then the way it flies! This is really Bullseye ED!
  15. hello Foss, Evil.Bonsai, Thanks for the comments, I think indeed I have to look and wait for a clearer image for the Mav before trying to lock it. In another copy of the mission I come in higher, with less problems and risk, but here I wanted a setup where I would come in low.
  16. I made a track that shows the "difficulty": the JTAC lases the target. I scan for the laser, track, and verify that I lock the Strela with the TGP. Then I slave the IR Mav, even in magnified view and can't see shit, so I lock. You see that the Mav locks a little beside it. I fire the first Mav, it hits the wrong vehicle. My second Mav locks a little bit to the left, and gets the Strela. I find it a little tough since the first four times I tried I got toasted this way. Don't get me wrong: nothing wrong with the game, I just wonder what is wrong with my tactics. So OK I don't need the JTAC to lase, but then again whatever how I ID the Strela with the TGP, the Mav locks something else. FT AGM-65 locks wrong vehicle.trk
  17. Problem is the visiblity of the vehicles in the Mav seeker is to bad for me to see the difference, that's why I was counting on the laser. So my TGP locks the right vehicle, but when I switch to the Mav, slave it and lock, it locks on surrounding vehicles. I'll post a track.
  18. I have this quick, simple mission that proves a little hard: I put a strela in the midst of some other vehicles, and I have a JTAC lasing it. The idea is to kill the strela, but somehow the Mavs always lock onto other vehicles, giving the strela a good shot at you. Mission starts in the air to keep it simple. The JTAC you need is the second one, EagleEye on FM 30. Any tactics suggestions? FT CA Russian Fist with A10CI-JTAC.miz
  19. The whole idea that the US is sacrificing quantity over quality makes little sense to me. In fact, the F-35 is designed to be produced in higher quantities than the 4th gen competition. The whole supply chain and industrial base is designed for this. It is also designed to be produced at a far higher rate than the 4th gen competition. Where are the high production rates of Rafale, Typhoon, Gripen, SU-35 ? Remember they are currently already building the 100th F-35. And then the whole price issue: the price is not 10 times higher than the competion, but in fact only marginally so, with a shrinking difference when production ramps up. And you must count sorties, not airframes. The F-35 is designed to generate much, much more sorties than the competition. Two of the major problems that are faced by some of the very best competitors, the Rafale and Typhoon, are exactly that: production rate and sortie generation. In all sales negotiations that are going one today these are the showstoppers. And then there is the last, completely bogus argument: the F-35 has less payload. NO. It has more payload and range. It has less payload in clean configuration. But it can load as much if not more than an F-16 or Super Hornet. The only reason that a mix makes sense is the production delays which at a 10 year timespan to the original planning. Since the Navy has a relatively young fleet of Super Hornets, there is an opportunity to keep this fleet longer aboard. For the Marines and Air Force this makes no sense: who would buy F-16 if you can buy F-35 ? From the same company? And going from Harrier to F-35 is simply a quantum leap in capability. We heard the same nostalgia in the past when Tomcat and Intruder were retired. The naked truth is however that the US Navy currently can yield a much higher sortie rate at a much lower cost with Super Hornet. The same will be true with transitioning to F-35. Sorry guys, but US will be soon flying routinely about 180 F-22 + 100 F-35 5th generation aircraft. That is "quantity" to me.
