  1. Nice, thanks for that!
  2. Small question: which is the largest runway on the DCS map? :music_whistling:
  3. Nice panoramic view of Greenland with GoPro in F-16
  4. I have the same issue, but only in crowded missions where there is a lot going on. I thought it was just my PC that was to slow.
  5. Another classic bows out: salute to the fléchette!
  6. No-show @ Farnborough: http://aviationweek.com/awin-only/f-35-lightning-ii-will-not-strike-farnborough
  7. Anyone an idea how I can put the RTY3 and RTY4 buttons to good use? I would like to use them for selecting radio frequencies.
  8. Could it be a factor that the Typhoon is made largely out of carbon fibre composites?
  9. +1. Go NASA !
  10. Super Hornet video Probably already posted here, but always nice to see:
  11. Really? http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/05/17/worst-floods-in-a-century-leads-to-massive-evacuation-in-serbia-bosnia
  12. Now that 1.2.8 is out, is there a simple way to update 1.2.7 from the openbeta, our do we have to download 1.2.8 again?
  13. I use it together with FC3 as a kind of Batllefield II pro. I really like the 3D-models. Normally I design a complex air-land mission and then I junp into tanks, planes etc to try to influence the outcome. Not really a DCS style approach, but big fun!
  14. Wireless since the wire was stolen by copper thieves, a real plague in Europe nowadays (last I was travelling in a 200 mph high-speed train in France when it suddenly had to brake hard to full stop because some copper thieves had stolen the signalisation wiring in plain daylight!)
  15. I do not seem to be able to convince the AI to bomb a target with LGB's. I tasked a B1-B: no joy. I tasked an F-117: does'nt drop anything. Tasked F-15's with LGB's and lantirn: nothig happens. I task F-16's with LGB's and Lantirn: nothing happens. I task in the same mission the F-16's with JSOW or Maverick: they attack as planned! Normally I plot a waypoint relatively far (10+ miles) away from the target wher I add the bombing command, and put the marker on the target, make sure the flight overflies the target by putting the next waypoint right over it. When I task an Su-25T it always works, whatever the payload.
  16. F-104 demo Is it sexy or what?
  17. Reuters: US Navy to buy fewer F-35 http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/04/lockheed-fighter-idUSL6N0M101N20140304
  18. Well this is simply the forum of a computer game so you will have to do with Google/wiki experts such as me. I think this forum is manned with people who have in general great admiration for the warthog ans find it a pity that their beloved sim aircraft is being withdrawn. And Yes we can sympathise with the loss of jobs and careers this entails. This doesn't mean however that the DoD' s reasoning is irrational. We are all able to discuss the motives mr. Hagel brought to the public, that is the whole point of public statements.
  19. The A-10 is not the only aircraft that can provide effective CAS, BTW the only reason it is still in the game is because it has been upgraded with ... the same Litening Pod that is also fielded on a myriad of other aircraft types. Read Hagel's entire speech on the matter here: http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2014/02/dod-aims-to-scrap-a-10-to-keep-f-35-alive-in-new-budget/
  20. Maybe this post by Wags about the F-15C AFM has some relevant info to this question: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=117395
  21. I really like the smoke effect in 1.2.7, for me a nice addition!
  22. I still hit what I need to hit with the Kh-25ML, but indeed the AFM essentially porked it: it has become a kind of cruise missile, falling out of the sky like a brick and then lethargically flying towards the target through thick air. Range has dwindled. For me it still works but I am less than enthousiastic.
  23. A millimeter-wave radar such as the Apache Longbow can be useful for anti-tank missions: you can prepare your attack from a safe distance and engage multiple targets at once, as is also being done by the Tornado GR4/Brimstone combo. But this works best if your enemy is a regular force using tanks of which the signature can be positively identified. Such a Radar cannot easily see the difference between a truck loaded with peasants and a truck loaded with militants. Rules of Engagement will nowadays mostly require visual ID and then you might as well use optical systems such as a Litening pod. Those have seen their usable range evolve in such a way that you can engage the enemy tanks stealthily from safe distance also. Adding the Litening pod to the A-10 essentially saved it from becoming obsolete in comparison to mmw-equipped aircraft. But a Radar will always be an advantage in adverse weather. UK Apaches almost always fly with the Longbow radar.
