  1. Could this be a sound related issue? When you start firing, the gun sound would then cause the FPS drop?
  2. The fix in post #32 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1943823&postcount=32 completely solved my problem. I guess it is only an issue if your computer specs are just borderline.
  3. I must say it took me a while before I realized the FPS drop was the reason I couldn't hit much with the P-51D.
  4. Gun effectiveness Pfoe, I'm obviously not good at this ... before dogfighting I'm simply trying to shoot down an AN-26B. Besides the fact that the AI driver seems to be the son of Chuck Norris, I do manage to hit the plane, but not at all to shoot it down. In my best effort I put around 50 bullets in it in 3 bursts, but it still flies on unscathed, even with its belly full of holes. Are these not HE rounds? My second problem is that I have troubles doing the fine adjustments to put the gyro pipper on target: I always overcorrect so that the gyro goes berserk. Is there a tip to learn better stick control ? Anyway flying this aircraft is a dream!
  5. Even in the sim I went from 4 mavs to 2 to fly lighter. It is a pig really, getting altitude is a nightmare, let alone when you're overloaded. BTW the Tornado can carry 12 brimstone missiles, but in combat (eg over Libya) it seems it was mostly loaded with 3 on a triple launcher: http://www.defensemedianetwork.com/stories/dual-mode-brimstone-missile-proves-itself-in-combat/
  6. Finally a fighter deal that actually materialises! Good for Gripen, it's a nice aircraft!
  7. Its biggest flaw: no industry lobby machine behind it. It has just its combat record speaking out for it!
  8. Nice opinion article: http://www.aviationweek.com/Article.aspx?id=/article-xml/AW_12_09_2013_p15-641104.xml
  9. Nice find! Some of the designs remind the Bronco no ?
  10. ^^very informative article, which brings more detailed considerations to the table! The good old Pierre Sprey will never give up challenging the top brass! The "Warthog 2.0" concept sounds attractive!
  11. The A-10 is not the only aircraft performing CAS nowadays. F-16, Hornet, Super Hornet, F-15, Tornado, Harrier, Rafale, Mirage 2000, Super Etendard, B-1, KC-130 etc. have all been doing this in Irak, Afghanistan etc. With the targeting pods, advanced radio's, ROVER equipment etc. they have done very well, using GBU-12, GBU-54 etc. Then count in MQ-9 Reaper UAV, Apache helos, Tiger, AC-130 gunships and the likes. Second, A-10 was a dedicated tankbuster, not a dedicated CAS aircraft originally. Third, why would F-35 be bad at CAS? It has WILDLY superior optics/comms/precision avionics over A-10C with SADL and Litening II. The F-35's computers will have a HUGE computing advantage to programme laser jdam and other precision munitions.
  12. Dunno anything about the real thing, but in game I find the A-10C way too slow. I'ld prefer flying an F-16 or Hornet.
  13. Sadly eleven dead in a plane crash in Belgium. A Pilatus Porter carrying skydivers crashed after losing part of the wing: http://www.deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.english/News/131019_plane
  14. Damn: 787 still has issues, now panel falling off in flight: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-24546020 (news is a few days old ... )
  15. Video of passenger landing plane: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24534013
  16. thanks!
  17. That's what I do, but if I then move the seeker it wanders until it auto-locks on a target. In the vid it seemed the movement was more user-controlled?
  18. How do you get the Mav ground stabilized? When I move the Mav it starts wandering around ...
  19. Oh Oh ... F-35 discussion has erupted in Belgium also ... we will be hearing all those crap counter-arguments all over again. Sigh.
  20. It would be interesting to study this question seriously and try to map for the European borders of Russia/CIS the number of (strike)fighters deployable on both sides. We should also discuss what is a meaningful range. Do we count French airforce into the pack? Or only the northern and central european defense line? Do we include UK assets that can go pretty far on the North Sea? There are also Nato airplanes protecting the baltics. I guess the EURFORCES have a lot of Gripen, EF2000, advanced F-16's, Hornets equipped with at least AIM-120B and in many cases AIM-9X/Iris T/Asraam, and some good strikers. I guess also on the Russian side apart from the Flankers the growing numbers of SU-34 and the upgraded SU-24 are a strike force to count with, not too deep in Russia. I'm not sure Mig-31 is meant for/ nearby the European theatre? The biggest problem for air power is that integrated air defenses on both sides are quite impressive.

    ADI

Am I right the vertical ADI indicator (ie the horizontal bar) is still not working?
  22. I do not seem to have any problems with the Rockeye's? Do they behave differently to the CBU's?
  23. Hot pit refuel Miramar
  24. Smoking is bad for your health, really. I'll see if this guy can help me out also with the Strela :=)
