MS FFB2 hall sensor mod, which sensors and setup?
trigen replied to trigen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Managed to get it working, had to exit DCS first. When i get the VKB handle and some dampers on this it will be the perfect stick! -

I have done every HW change reseat OC reset, defaults uninstall reinstall combination possible really so im at a total loss. I can only observe it in videos when its half size here though. I also see it outside of VR in DCS its just 10 times worse in VR. -

Turns out there was a little play in the pot insert holes so i sorted that. now its 99% there. As for just using the slider, that didnt work -

Yeah i thought so too so i took them out of the gimbal and it moved right away. So for me it seemed to be inherent to the gimbal which is quite weird but it happens. Should have specified that. I got the stick with the grey trigger. I have 2 sticks though as i got a bit unlucky with runaway solder on one but im going to check it for the other one now. Great, didnt think of trying that! Thanks -

Sadly my previous card broke so I don't have any and don't really have anyone to borrow from. Before that I had a 1080ti that I sold but that's a while ago, never had any issues. Only got a igpu Intel 630 that cant do Ingame vr but I can see flicker Inside the wmr studio and steam that's the same as on the TI. Would of course prefer to try a proper card in game though. At least I know it's not all in my head. -

Necroing this one as im finally doing the project. The main problem with this stick is the DZ and even with patching directly into the pots with a 12 bit controller you will still get it. So ill be adding hall sensors to it either in addition too or completely replace the pots. Either way it will be going to a 12 bit controller. After this it will be perfect for use in DCS as you can use the FFB but have another controller doing the X Y axis. If i recall correctly though you still need to keep the X Y on ms FFB inside the game but you can set a full DZ and it will still work. In other games depending what you want, for example force trim for helicopters you can use sim FFB which you can find on these forums. This will take over the FFB and give you an option to set a key. You can also set friction etc Simffb https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1628706&postcount=43 Its a bit of a workaround but given the money and time you would need to build an actual force trim system its not a bad one. I will also be adding RC dampers so i can use that as friction vs the gear feel. Grip will be VKB MCG with a 18" aluminium tube to keep it light. Its also modded for double current to the FFB and i may later add 2 motors like the 2 MS ffb one stick mod but its not currently needed. Will add pictures later but it will be a couple of weeks due to shipping time -
Ok so this worked for me. I found the registry entry on my laptop, exported that and imported it on the other comp. Voila it works. It shows as Msffb in DCS and the game controllers. If its just the name or actually works in other sims. im not sure so appreciate a report Ive added the reg file this is for windows 10. dont know if it works on any other windows. Backup your registry with "regedit" before you add this. Start regedit Right click computer on top and choose export. Unplug the MS FFB Unzip / Add the reg file. (see attachment) sidewinder test1.rar

What moba are you on. I got a Asus Z270E gaming with only USB3 ports. Same on all ports. It works just fine on my laptop. Gonna update my laptop with all windows updates and see if there is any changes. I see others have had this issue a few years ago though so it's hard to say. Mine is a fresh Windows install. Kind of has to be a bug though. Can't put it right in 2 places (devices and device manager) and something different in the game controller setting

Same issue with windows 10 1803 Funny thing is that it says installing drivers for ms ffb2 in notifications but still shows like this

Should have thought about using the mirror view

Best guess it is this issue. Lots of flicker/jitter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLV5Xg4mglM&feature=youtu.be

A question for Odyssey users only. i got another post on this but i am wondering about your experience inside the HMD. There's no need to troubleshoot (unless you have the magic solution of course) i have tried just about everything related to HW/software I have turned off all shadows as they are so jagged and flicker so much its silly. I have reset the shaders a few times already but no change. This is all at PD 1 4x AA 2x SSAA Without any AA its complete garbage. (PD has 0 impact on flickering regardless of setting) Menu text flicker black/white pixels feels like constantly changing position. You got this on loading into sim picture too and all menu text. F18: I used to have a clean looking cockpit where everything was nice to look at, nothing was flickering. White performance text lower left is 80% unreadable. Map text flickers like crazy. Hud flickers a little. + other stuff The Huey: Some of the instruments (they all got it) flicker/shimmer a lot . Again never had any issues. The green radar altimeter has always been solid with no issues. Now shimmer/flickers A10 All dials flicker/shimmer like a mofo no AA slightly better 4x but not much. Map shimmer/flicker on text, lines etc KA50 Practically the whole cockpit is screaming at you. All gauges flicker/shimmer and lots of other stuff Roads (albeit somewhat normal but not really seen before) Labels flicker/shimmer a lot Top of the hills in nevada are flickering/shimmering and thats no trees, just a line. Did not do so before. While its magnified in VR and bit harder to see on the screen its there then too. When turning off VR and just going 1080 4x AA your camera sits perfectly still so its not an issue in the cockpit but you can tell on the trees when turning etc and probably somewhat with trackir but i dont have that anymore. Everything is so much worse in VR though so its just not comparable. Without any AA like the VR preset is just instant headache as every line in the world goes mental Feels like something is very broken somewhere and it refuse to apply AA correctly. Could also be something to do with WMR not rendering things as it should Honestly on the video you cant really tell, i dont know if it is YT that smooths things out cause the org file you can see it properly. The white text and map etc feels like its under rippling water or something and black white pixels constantly changes positions. Imagine it being about 5-10 times worse than you can see here. Wish i had another HMD to test with too Its not only in DCS So any such issues?

If it was only DCS then yeah id say it was the sim no doubt but its not plus i find it hard to believe and it was certainly not the case before that the hud in the F18 is flickering, map and map text is doing the same, trees in the background, planes in the background. I used to have a clean looking cockpit where everything was nice to look at, nothing was flickering. Loading screen pictures flicker/shimmer. All text on menu's flicker/shimmer I have turned off all shadows as they are so jagged and flicker so much its silly. I have reset the shaders a few times already but no change. Everything is so much worse in VR though so its just not comparable. Without any AA like the VR preset is just instant headache as every line in the world goes mental... well you have seen the video. X plane AA seems to have gotten much worse to the point of not working/ making marginal difference from 2 - 16x Wmr portal, lots of flicker/shimmer. PD ins steam AA. quality settings Nvidia control panel, no difference. Image quality settings in WMR or nvidia - texture quality: quality or performance seems to make 0 difference in performance. Feels like something is very broken somewhere and it refuse to apply AA correctly. Could also be something to do with WMR not rendering things as it should I will post another video from the F18 a bit later as it takes a long time with 50kbs upload speed... -

Its recorded in stages and put together turning AA on and off which is why it sharpens up in flight. I still have it in the cockpit while flying there. Does AA help, sure but it still quite bad in VR. I do hope its just myself that has gone batshit crazy of course but its gone from being perfectly fine with 2x AA FAA in X plane awful on anything under 8x even at 16x AA i got loads of shimmer and like textures and lack thereof moves one pixel back and forth all the time even when the game is paused and the view not moving. In the meantime ive tested it with an old amd card and it is exactly the same for me there so its not the card. I think this is the end of this topic though. Like a lot of other people ive tried everything. For some they have gotten lucky and its just disappeared with some hardware changes and others nothing. Sometimes its there from start and sometimes it takes 6 months. -
Selling my lightly used Warthog stick as im upgrading to a helicopter stick It has been modded so there are some missing screws, Nothing that will affect the stick. Ill do my best to find them but its looking grim Including the Ps2 extension cable. The modded cable will be put back in the stick before shipping if requested. It has been regreased Nyogel 767A so there are no sticky issues. Location Norway. 1600 Nkr + shipping.

There are services you can use that will take the parcel shipped from amazon or w/e and forward it to you in Europe. Does cost a little extra but i think its about the only way. Would probably need to use a VPN in some cases to get it to show on Amazon Some examples here https://tech-vise.com/best-parcel-forwarding-services-for-international-shoppers/ Unless the plus version does show up on Amazon and you're eligible of course. wait a few days and see

Used to have the same card before and no issues. Sold and went back to my old 270x and didnt see any issues. 00 A few times yes. Gonna post one last video before i give up on this issue though from a 1920 1080 screen recorder. First off its maxed out, then No AA (you can really see it clearly there in the Huey as due to the vibration,) then a flight with it maxed out over the fields. If i play the video at half size on my computer i will get far worse results than playing it fullscreen like the video posted before with black and white lines moving over the fields. Its not so noticeable at this res with max settings but in VR its not great. Does this compare with your's? -

Looks like im ****ed as its system wide. Noticed on facebook looking at a video in a small size vs big size. Small had lots of texture line shimmer while the big had virtually none (it has a little on the top of the building that you can barely see). it cant even do move files correctly. edit i do have that on my laptop on nvidia to though so it could be nothing Alse here is a pic of the line around the OK checkbox in VR. White to black dots resulting in horrible crawling ants or what you would want to call it with movement. This effect is seen over fields, lines, text etc. The effect you see in the video i get in some/most fields in Caucasus depending on angle. What is a bit interesting is that if i til my head about 10-15 degrees everything falls into line and the effect quiets down. Horizontal and its in your face black to white spam -

Thanks for the help guys Sadly i believe its a bit more involved than just fiddling with the AA and PD settings. I have this issue in ALL games, WMR portal, steam portal. You can see it on the characters in heroes of the storm, Dirt rally. AA does have some effect but its still there to a large degree especially in flight sims where its much more noticeable to begin with . All of which ive never noticed any such issue before. Nvidia settings does nothing I can see on the internet after some deep research that others have the same issue. Some have solved it by going over to Ryzen but i cant be sure on the success of that. Could also be a power fault issue but again dont know but doubtful https://communities.intel.com/thread/115750 https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/638876-jagged-shadowspop-inlow-lod-and-jagged-aa/ -

not to my knowledge no. everything is pointing to something else being the culprit however
