1080TI S Odyssey/ Shimmering/jagged mess
trigen replied to trigen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No worries. Honestly though im not sure. I cant really test much on my intel 630 internal card but feels like i got the same issues inside steam room and WMR room too leading me to think its a windows issue or who knows a motherboard (same on every bios setting though) issue. Im not 100% sure when these issues came but its not that long ago. I would have noticed shimmering this bad for sure even though i have some severe mental memory issues that keeps me from being more spesific. One thing is for sure and that is that its annoying the crap out of me. I got a Asus 270E gaming btw so it should not be an issue. Cpu is watercooled and everything is powered with a 850w Thermaltake psu so there should not be any issues there. Gonna run a win reinstall and see what happens now though. -

Made a couple of vids filming trough the hmd. First one is without any AA at PD 1.0 i dont really see any difference when adjusting PD tbh. I seem to recall being able to fly without any AA on. No way in hell i can with this as you will see. The second video is with 4x AA 2x SSSA or what its called and PD 1.5. its of course better but it shimmers a lot and its worse than you can tell from the video. Cockpit knobs overhead view that perfectly illustrates it. 2x aa 2s sssa 1.4 PD -

If it was only in Dcs I had the issue ;). Besides that it's already done when uninstalling kegwtys vr mod and running repairs -

Thing is I get it everywhere. Shadows only matter inside the game, not that it makes any difference though. . An example. Pressing an OK box and just dragging or holding the mouse so it gets a white select line around the box. That will flicker with black and white on the will switching position.back and forth. Can't imagine I should be having aliasing issues on lines around menu boxes and on all white text, shimmering/flickering on labels and so on. -

Yeah sadly i can max out everything in game and while better it still flickers quite a lot. No setting will get rid of it and i got the same on internal graphic card. Looks like a windows issue but the install is 2 weeks old. -

Dont know what it is. Wasnt the ASW. Anything white is just constant flicker. white/blackish back and forth. In the menu, in the game. If i put my head really close to the text in the menu it almost disappear. 4x AA and 2x SSA makes it slightly better inside the game but not much. Same flickering in steamvr room, WMR room. -

Worth a shot. Tnx Just put it to max setting to see if much difference but there wasn't. Aware of all the rest. Deferred shading was the death of vr performance sadly. Thanks though -
Hello Got a 1080TI that i bought from a mining rig and ive had the same card before. edit: AA 4x AF 16x Shadows high All textures max SS 1.3 Thing is i cant quite remember but i really dont think things were this bad before. While i thought ok jaggies AA etc it does not make much difference. Supersampling hardly makes a difference. Its especially apparent on (white) lines. Even when the games is paused the lines/jaggies flickers/shimmers. Trees, yikes. powerlines etc a flickering mess. Its on text in the menu, you can notice on the side on the menu, Labels in the game and so on. basically on most things. I got this issue in X plane too some trees are fine, others not. Tried all kinds of settings in nvidia panel but nothing really makes any difference. same with in game settings. Driver 970.77 in and same on 411.70 While its not so easy to see Ive done a couple of videos, you guys getting this (this bad) ? Can see it very well when i zoom the vid here. You can see on the ground here on the upside down image during the video that it kind of jumps a bit

Would love to grab VKB MCG PRO (English labels) with extension bar - with Gunfighter MK II base. But live in Norway. Feel free to send me a PM with price
-
So do they charge you right now or like VKB when it ships?
-
Returned mine and saved 120$ buying a 1tb normal ssd instead. Saw no difference in gaming (dcs xplane etc) and nothing to justify the markup in price on anything else. Faster transfer, virus search has been mentioned, that's about it. In short the rest of the computer can't keep up.
-
When I got to shipping it said shipping + tax to Norway. I have to admit the 99 dollar they want for shipping to Norway is way to high though. Ridiculous is more like it.
-
Anyone know if they charge you now or when they ship?
-
That's what happens to me when I forget to do the initial calib if In wmr if I reboot the comp look from side to side etc. It sounds broken if you have done that. Guess you have rei stalled wmr already? A d yeah it needs light
-
No need to do anything, it will start automatically once it detects the vive
-
Cold be i supposes but if its only this game its very strange. Hopefully some of the devs can chip in
-
Sounds weird, never heard of such a thing. It would be a DCS issue id say in any case and you would probably get it on most HMDS I would run a DCS repair Can also try and enable WMR native ASW Ive written how in this post : https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=220815 Also, like said DCS uses Steamvr/wmr for WMR so dont turn that option off.
-
Its very easy. there is a small dial underneath on the front. adjust that. SteamVR has to be on btw for your VR to actually work in DCS. While you adjust the dial stam will show an overlay that tells you the numbers, you can try and force this in DCS VR section if it dont look right. To get the IPD right i find it best to look at a line in the WMR startup area and adjust until its clear and everything feels comfortable. have you done this already?

Have you installed windows mixed reality In steam? Search for it in the store
-
Turns out its unsuitable for my project so i am no longer interested.
-
Apart from the rest depending on what you are doing and flying time be prepared for some modding though. I usually fly for about an hour at a time and not moving my head to much as I'm a heli (and mostly civilian) pilot mainly. Sometimes I need to lift it up to let my forehead get some relief. They really should have done better on that. So if ur flying a long time take that into consideration.

Had no issues and it only uses one slot + the one for your USB Bluetooth stick so 2 in all. Need to get your own 4.0 compatible but they are cheap. Gotta mention that the controllers suck battery so get rechargeables
-
Have you edited the settings file (mixed reality in steam) to turn it on cause its not on by default? I've tested throwing my head around like a mofo and you only get some distortion around edges, practicly no ghosting. If you drop below 45-50 you will get massive judder though
