Yeah. The c is a lot more fun. I was actually thinking of some harrier missions for Desert Storm. The marines flew them. Found a book on it. Going to take a look. I think the DCS version of the AV8 may be a bit later than Desert Storm. But hopefully we can work around that. Thoughts?

Agreed. Need to look at that as well. I have the LG map but have not actually flown on it. Lol. It would have to be the A10a, though for Desert Storm, no? Does anyone on DCS fly that version,,I wonder?

Late to this discussion but - Try experimenting with the Set Option action. Specificallty - Set Option - restrict Jettison. This seems to be required regardless of what is set in the Set Option - Reaction to Threat option which also seems to have a dramatic effect on AI behaviour. Also experiment with options such as "ground attack" vs "CAS" and actions such as "attack map object" or "bombing" instead of "attack unit" or "attack group". There are several switches in each of these options as well. All seem to have an effect, although not always as expected. One behavious that seems to be consistent is that only one aircraft in any given group will attack the target on any given pass. If you want all aircraft to drop on the first pass, you have to make each a/c it's own group. Just my experience so far.

Excxellent. That's what I was going for. Now thinking about starting a series on a different aircraft. I want to do another ground attack plane since I am not really very good at ACM or BVR stuff. I own Flaming Cliffs (so SU-25 ), the A-10c, the Harrier and the F-18. Any interest in seeing the same approach applied to any those airframes?

Interesting. I really appreciate the feedback. One of the things that I wanted to do with these videos is to make them follow a "story-arc". Every mission follows the previous ones and leads to the next one. I do have a back-story in my mind while I am designing each mission. The challenge is to design each new "chapter" so that it is not only entertaining but also so that it allows me to show off some new aspect of the airplane or the game. I am glad that it seems to be working for you at least :-). I would be quite happy to have some suggestions about where to take the story next. I have the next couple of missions basically blocked out, but after that, the page is blank right now.

Skyhawk Tips and Tricks Part 2 Here's the second installment of Skyhawk Tips and Tricks. This one covers the Iron Hand, Alpha Strike, and Snakeyes At Sunset videos. In it you can learn a bit about what is going on in the videos in terms of planning the mission, setting up the aircraft systems and weapons and flying the missions. This installment looks at the Nav Computer, the dreaded terrain clearance radar and the AGM-45 Shrike missile, among other things. Have a look and let me know what you think. BTW - fun fact - the term "Alpha Strike" was used by the US Navy during the Vietnam era to denote large strike missions that involved multiple different strike packages and often dozens of aircraft.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I agree that the mission editor is an "acquired taste". It feels a bit like a tool that the devs originally used to make their missions and the cleaned up so they could release it with the game. So the interface is not as user friendly as one that was designed that way from the ground up. Keep at it. It gets easier. Btw encouragement like this is exactly what I need to convince me to do the work to make these missions releasable. Thanks.
