  1. I apologize if this topic has been covered elsewhere. I am a recent convert to the Tomcat - and specifically the "Bombcat" so I am not completely familiar yet with the model. I have, however, dropped a lot of iron bombs in DCS. I am trying to explore the edges of that envelope in the F-14 I am interested knowing how the RIO can contribute to ground attackin multicrew. I understand about using LANTIRN with GBU's. Are there other possibilities? For instance, can the RIO identify, track and designate targets wit the TCS that the pilot can then attack in CMPTR-TGT mode - rather than the pilot having to designate the target himself? Similarly, can a target designated with LANTIRN be attacked using unguided bombs in CMPTR-TGT mode? Thanks for any information you can provide.
  2. Thanks Rudel for the shout out. Unfortunately, I am finding in the latest release that some of the functionality appears to have disappeared. Specifically, I am now no longer able to slow the camera movement down with the keyboard rates command. The rotation rates can still be controlled via the mouse rates commands, but the movement rates no longer appear to respond. This is unfortunate as the fine movement control was one of the real advances in the last version. I hope this situation is temporary.
  3. In the latest release of v2.9 I am finding that I am not able to adjust the speed of camera movement in "Object Camera". In the initial release, the camera could be moved very slowly by invoking "slow keyboard rates" (LCTRL ]). This was a major quality of life improvement for creating cinematic shots. In the current release I find that this command no longer slows down camera movement. Did something change? Was this intentional? Or am I missing something? I have checked in the Adjust Controls scheme and the key press registers, but I do not see any effect. I much preferred the original version.
  4. A feature I would love to see is to have control axes for camera rotation and camera translation for any external camera - that were common across all external cameras. This would allow analog control of all of the external cameras and would mean that they would all respond the same way to input. This would make the process of making "Cinematics" soooooo very much easier. Please do not get me wrong. The DCS 2.9 updates are HUGE in terms of providing new functionality and capability (and I have said as much in a video). But they make me hunger for more! I use a game controller for camera control when I am "filming" rather than flying - which makes the process very much like flying a drone - which is something my thumbs know how to do. Being able to truly implement sensitive control for all three translation axes and for pitch and yaw - would open up a whole new world of possibility - at least for me. I have no idea how hard this would be to implement. I understand if it is not a priority at the moment - but with all the visual improvements in DCS - I would dearly love to be able to capture the moments the way I see them in my head. That can work now, but it takes a lot more work than it could. Thanks again for all your hard work.
  5. Thanks. I will give that a try
  6. In other words the answer is NO. Thanks for the clarification. I should note that, despite your assertion to the contrary, this is actually not obvious since offsets ARE actually ONLY associated with target points. Since target points maybe be created from either sequence points or by designation, it does not LOGICALLY follow that they cannot be added to target points that are identified by designation. AT any rate, thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.
  7. Is there a way to cue the TPOD to a mark point once it has been created by radar - without having to go back and select it on the radar screen? I'd like to set up a series of targets on the radar and then cycle through them on the TPOD without having to use the radar screen Thanks
  8. For the record. I want to do this for a particular reason - it has to do with planning a pop-up attack. I can do this sitting on the ground with a pre-planned target, but not while in the air with a target of opportunity. If it isn't implemented yet, that's fine. I just wondered if I was missing something.
  9. Is there a way to create an offset point to a target once it is designated using the radar or the T-POD? I know how to create an offset point to a target that is in the steering point list, but have not figured out how to create an offset point to a dynamically created target point. Thanks
  10. If you are struggling with the Mission Editor - it might not be you, it might be ME. Maybe this series of videos will help.
  11. No Reason to be concerned if you are having trouble landing in DCS. Flying slow and stable is an unnatural act for most DCS aircraft. Maybe this will help
  12. As we all know, most new DCS pilots first experience with DCS will be the Su-25T - which gives this series it's name. A bit more overlooked is the base model Su-25 which comes in FC3 or stand-alone at a VERY ACCESSIBLE price. Between them, they provide a great introduction to the world of ground attack in DCS. I have been working on a series of videos as an introduction to these aircraft. Hopefully they will be useful to new players who are just getting hooked, and maybe of some interest to veterans who have moved on to the higher-end addictions offered by DCS. Here are the first two videos https://youtu.be/0vnqWUjw1ks https://youtu.be/FlxsDpbRFwA
  13. Is the CCRP in the A-10c bugged? What about CCIP CR mode? I did some testing. Have a look and see what you think.
  14. See what happens when you put 3 factories, 24 Skyhawks, over 50 AAA guns, two dozen Mk. 83 bombs and a couple hundred Zuni rockets together and shake vigorously
  15. Here's another installment. This time showing using the A-4E bombing computer that will come with the EFM once released.
  16. Here's another installment of Iron Bombing Tips and Tricks. This time a demonstration of how to fly a blind approach to a target in the A-4 using the Nav computer. Even without a modern HUD, it is possible to arrive make a precision low-level drop. You can try this exercise yourself if you download the Iron Bombing Test range mission: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3312663/
  17. After a bit of a break, here is a new Haiphong Harbour video - a massive alpha strike on a factory complex. Enjoy!
  18. Here's another practice you can try with the A-10c on the Iron Bombing test range. This time we use mavericks to take out those pesky Shilkas before taking out the high value target with some big boy bombs... and all the while staying under the SAM deck. It's Hawg heaven
  19. New mission available. Here's the release video of Rudel flying Rockets at Dawn. Here's the mission link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.c...files/3313178/ And - BTW - there is a Sidekick Discord Server if you want to drop by and talk about these missions: https://discord.gg/bXhcWZd4nW Enjoy!
  20. Doing it Hawgie Style! To celebrate the release of the A-10c II Tank Killer we show that it, too, can be a fearsome Iron-Bomber. This video also used the Iron Bombing Test Range mission. Download it and give it a try.
  21. Another installment of Iron Bombing Tips and Tricks. This time we look at the "tactical pop-up" technique with the A-4E and the AV8B. The video was filmed using the Iron Bombing Test Range mission that you can find here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3312663/ Go ahead and download it and try it yourself!
  22. Guys - I am trying to decide where to put the effort in making new videos and missions, if you could let me know what you think of this series, I would really appreciate it. Would you rather see more "story" videos like this - or more "tips and tricks" type tutorial videos? Or would you rather see videos featuring different aircraft. I'd really like to know!
  23. Episode 5 - In which we toss some Rockeyes at Syrian Infantry by the lakeshore. This episode includes an added bonus in that shows off the CP-741 bombing computer that will eventually be included in the A-4E EFM.
  24. Get Your Hawg On! Here's a suggested mission you can fly on the Iron Bombing Range (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3312663/) Snipe with Mavericks. Put a big Warhead on some Foreheads. And then go round a few times chewing up vehicles with 30mm rounds. HAWG Heaven. Give it a try.
