Game Crash When Launching from Super Carrier in F/A-18
jpinard replied to Relics's topic in Game Crash
Is it with the F-18A (not the other variants)? Because I just discovered when the F-18A tries to retract its landing gear it crashes the game 100% of the time. The other F-18's are fine.- 10 replies

If the F/A-18A is on the ground driving around the game is fine. But after it becomes airborne and tries to retract its landing gear it crashes the beta version of DCS World. If you make a scenario with just the F/A-18A and start it in flight, the game will immediately crash. The other two F/A-18 variants are just fine, and all 3 are fine with the Steam (non-beta) client. It is just a problem with the F/A-18A in the beta client. * Intel 9700K @ 5.0 GHz * 32 Gig RAM ultra low latency 3700 speed * Nvidia 3080 * Samsung Evo Pro M.2

Are you using the beta? If not, that's why it worked. I just nailed down what was wrong. When the F-18A goes to retract its landing hear it crashes the game every time. If I take this to my Steam non-beta version of the game it works just fine. If I make a scenario with just the F-18A as the only unit, and it already in flight, it crashes the game right away. Thanks for checking it out. I do have 32 Gig of RAM. If you're using the beta version of the game I'll be curious if you have 64 Gig, and if that somehow gets a person around the crash.

I tried asking on reddit, but for those that actually try to help, I only get vague answers. It's basically just every aircraft in the game on 2 runways in the UAE Persian Gulf. I orifincally made it to see every aircraft next to each other and to see which ones looked so bad I needed to find new skins (like the F4-E). But then I thought it'd be fun to see them all take off and fight each other since they're in neutral airports together. I'm wondering what it would take to make this work, and maybe some kind of guide in the future about what the limits of the game are so I don't waste a massive amount of time designing a scenario that won't end up working. Here is the mission (once again, it's tiny) https://gofile.io/d/NbBqLJ And here are some screens:

Where do I put the files?

Unlimited ammo for myself (player) but not enemies nor other friendlies?

@HC_Official Does that go for ground/ship units as well, or just air units? -
Just for testing, I placed a huge variety of Russian air defense units, plus lots of radar stations as well. I loaded up an F18 with HARMS and to my surprise not a single enemy SAM engaged me. They did toss out a few missiles to try and shoot down my HARMs, but I'm obviously doing something very wrong where they won't try to shoot ME down. Could someone help me out with this?

It's hard for me to constantly move in and out to zoom into an MFD, so I bound a zoom key to my HOTAS and have started using that. It's a little better, but still clunky. I can't do this stuff in real-time yet as I'm trying to learn how to program all my missiles and such. @VirusAM I can't find any information on pointcontrol v2. Is that coming out soon?

How can I use hand controllers when I'm using HOTAS? I've already tried all the combinations of options, and this doesn't work. When you use a mouse, yes the mouse is primary, but as soon as you move your head too much, it moves the cursor independent of the mouse again as it "refocuses". The mouse takes over again as soon as you move it, but it's a constant battle between the two.

I just got the HP Reverb 2 and excitedly bought a whole bunch of DCS stuff to play with it. However I immediately ran into terrible issues because I need to use my mouse to click the cockpit switches, but the HMD cursor is fighting with my mouse cursor. So when I finally get my mouse over a switch to flip, my head pulls the cursor away and I miss it. Repeat this a hundred times just to do the simplest task and it's left me defeated and sad. I've slaved the HMD cursor to right eye, left eye, and both just to see if there was some way I could make it work. It didn't. Please tell me there's a way to turn off the HMD cursor, so just the mouse is used? Or at least change the HMD sensitivity so I can move my head around a bunch and the cursor won't move when I'm trying to click stuff with my mouse. Otherwise I may have wasted hundreds of dollars and that would be devastating to someone in my situation. Thanks.

Was looking to get back into Lock-On - so... what do I get?
jpinard replied to jpinard's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
What about Black Shark? Is that a totally different game series? I got the impression it was built on the Lock:On engine. T-Bone - do you still play F4? I'm really into ArmA2 at the moment and the chopper/jets you can fly got me itnerested in booting up a real flight-sim again. Il-2, Lock-On, and Falcon 4 Allied Force :) I finally have the power to run them all at max detail as well. -
I saw the announcement on Bluesnews that Lock-On: Flaming Cliffs 2 is shipping. It's been foreever sicne I played Lock-On and am wondering what I should be getting to make it up-to-date. To make it more confusing, when I go to the "Purchase Now" selection instead of taking my to Flaming Cliffs 2, the link takes me to "DCS: Black Shark (Eng)" http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=135&scr=products So, what's the difference between these? What's official? Which should I be buying? Thanks! :)
