  1. Anyone have a citation for the Refleks having 8km range rather than the 5km is attributed to in most sources?
  2. Plus, the M1A2 ingame is limited to 3500 for maximum gun engagement range. In SB Pro PE, I've gone out to 4500 with the LRF without problems :( Hopefully thats something to be fixed in the way-down-the-road M1A2 module :P TGM's were (from what I've been told) meant to be used as an anti-ATGM vehicle platform, as well as anti-heli. Not sniping out at absurd ranges, due to vehicle magnification limits etc.
  3. I actually thought about this today. Is this permissible? Releasing properly credited revisions of the default campaigns?
  4. Argh... so it'd need a replacement eh? I'm looking at finally moving up to a T-16000M so hopefully it'll last while. I've just used and replaced Logitech Wingmen up until now, on my third in 10-ish years :P I'm not technically inclined enough to replace the pots I dont think. I'll keep in mind the advice on collective too, and try and take that into account more until the new stick. It cant help to drop that habit early, I figure! :)
  5. Hey there, sorry for the weird title. http://www.mediafire.com/download/13mfgga5chu118l/Huey_Landing_Kinda.trk This is a track of me taking off in the Huey and circling briefly, and landing. Everything about it is awful. I've included in it the control-position window, so you can further see exactly what Im doing at any moment. Does the stick behavior seem unnecessarily squirrely to you? Even when held "still" Im getting alot of shaking, it would appear. I'm trying to figure out if my Logitech Extreme 3d Pro has enough life in it to continue flying the Huey, or if I'm going to have to get something new. Thanks for any input!
  6. I think thats the nature of simming though. To an extent, there will always be number fudging :) Agreed though, I'm hopeful missile drag is reduced in the future as well.
  7. I'd love the Blackhawk honestly. It'd be interesting to see how it compares to the UH-1H in terms of performance, and to see how much it has "advanced" in terms of overall technology and flight-aids compared to the previous workhorse. Failing that, the AH-1F :)
  8. My comment was about community members acting venomously towards someone with apparently little experience in the sim-genre, rather than either shrugging and ignoring em at worst. Playing a "HEH CoD" card is prime elitist-behavior.
  9. Agreed, better throw an extra $30 on the game's price-tag ala Maxis Games to prevent new players from getting into the sim genre to begin with.
  10. Terrific news indeed! I hope everything goes smoothly
  11. Georgian Hammer is very disappointing to me mostly in part to the lack of intel you're given pre-mission. "There are 12 tanks here and here." is often the full report. No areas of suspected SAM activity or confirmed radar emissions etc marked, no intel on movement etc. Its everything thats wrong with DCS campaigns :(
  12. Over a year ago, I made a thread similar to this and was given all sorts of somewhat snooty-advice. "SORRY IF THIS IS TOO REAL FOR YOU" etc, stuff along those lines. Whats changed? Have people just generally come to the consensus over time that its overdone at the moment? It isnt just the BMP-2 which is engaging targets a bit too effectively either :P http://i.imgur.com/LMOX5R1.jpg I imagine the Bradley, Warrior etc are every bit as overly-accurate as the BMP too.
  13. I'd love a DCS: MQ-9 :P A dude on another forum suggested rather than "DCS: MQ-9 Reaper" it be titled "DCS: Ender's Game" instead though
  14. Oh, so its just "Cant use your Steam version of DCS World for new keys, add new ones to your basic install instead" sort of thing? Just add your other install as a Non-Steam Game, and things should be a-ok :)
  15. Due to how I fly (aka badly) I find myself accidentally using the rudder alot when moving my stick left or right. You can fly a bit better by decreasing saturation, but overall I'd still kill a man for a pair of rudder pedals. I'm told the stability of the KA-50 makes the situation much more tolerable, perhaps you should consider that as a starter? The Huey without pedals just... man... its rough. :pilotfly: It depends on your stick's age/quality too. A fresh Extreme 3d Pro I imagine will be nice and stiff. Mine's getting on in years, sadly. Still keeps steady, but has its moments of twitchiness. And twitching is what you DONT want in a helo, because you'll feel it alot more than a plane.
  16. Bought FC3 and the Huey. The Huey is absolutely gut-wrenching and heart-pounding to fly. I've just got a Logitech Extreme 3d pro and no rudder pedals, so its intense to do ANYTHING with it. Its amazing.
  17. Hello there. I took the following two screenshots recently while in a MP game with friends. http://i.imgur.com/HNyOHzh.jpg This Su27 was stricken by a friend's AMRAAM from his F-15, and as you can see took immense structural damage. The loss of both ailerons, multiple fluid leaks, damage to both engines, and total removal of its left elevator/tail assembly. http://i.imgur.com/UzTWq5X.jpg Unfortunately, nobody informed the pilot that his plane was massively crippled :P It resumed flying, turned using a controlled use of ailerons (which didnt exist anymore on the plane) and began to divert to a friendly airfield, gear extended. http://i.imgur.com/0nSV7Mi.jpg My friend fired a burst of vulcan, and severed the left wing entirely. The plane was un-phased, and never deviated from its glide slope. I've noticed many similar instances of similar behavior, and was wondering just how "scripted" is the AI in regards to loss of control surfaces, fluids, etc? They routinely seem to fly absolutely demolished/shot-up aircraft with no major loss of coordination. This is most noticeable with larger helicopters like the Hind and Mi8, which I've set aflame with AA fire multiple times and had just fly off, engulfed in flame, but with no apparent detrimental effects to the aircraft or pilot. Is this something that will be improved in the engine update?
  18. For the first part of "OperatioN Hammerfall", my radio stopped receiving after I'd destroyed the last enemy Inf unit near the primary target. I'd already blown up the 4 trucks (CBU-105's rule :P) I only received the ability to communicate with ATC when on final approach to Kobuleti, and at that same time I received several simultaneous text updates onscreen regarding the status of the enemy leader post-strike. So it sort of fired off 5 replies to Request Landing I'd sent to ATC, as well as the 2 post-strike messages you get upon killing targets simultaneously. Is there some way to slew my TGP to the mosque-area precisely? I use labels currently since I'm not the best player, but that kind of ability would help alot here. All in all, very nice mission. The one before (rescue the Heli, provide CAS) was very fun and went smoothly as well.

    IFV Sniping Jets

You're correct :) Its an AA sight mainly intended for use versus helicopters. Alot of people see the words "AA Sight" and imagine "Oh, its an AA gun now!", but as you've noted, that is far from the truth.
  20. I'm definitely in the mood for this kind of thing, rather than just WWIII-lite stuff :P I'll give this campaign a shot tonight and let ya know if I find any issues! EDIT: As said above, can confirm that parking the plane leads to a mission failure :( The default campaign end-message is actually pretty humorous given that parking the plane is labeled dishonorable and leads to catastrophic campaign failure apparently! :P

    The BMP-2 does have an AA sight. Here's that that translates to ingame: -- human gunner, hardpoint mount, BMP-2, M2, M6, Marder, LAV-25 WSN_4 = {} WSN_4.deviation_error_azimuth = 0.001 WSN_4.deviation_error_elevation = 0.001 WSN_4.deviation_error_speed_sensor = 0.23 WSN_4.deviation_error_stability = 0.01 WSN_4.deviation_error_distance = 0.1 Compare that to: -- human gunner, hardpoint mount, ZU-23 WSN_3 = {} WSN_3.deviation_error_azimuth = 0.001 WSN_3.deviation_error_elevation = 0.001 WSN_3.deviation_error_speed_sensor = 0.20 WSN_3.deviation_error_stability = 0.003 WSN_3.deviation_error_distance = 0.1 And versus the superior: -- automatic gunner, hardpoint mount, Tunguska, Vulcan, Kortik, Phalanx, Gepard, AK630, Shilka WSN_5 = {} WSN_5.deviation_error_azimuth = 0.0007 WSN_5.deviation_error_elevation = 0.0007 WSN_5.deviation_error_speed_sensor = 0.005 WSN_5.deviation_error_stability = 0.001 WSN_5.deviation_error_distance = 0.005 There really isnt a gigantic difference between Autocannons/MG's versus targets and radar-controlled dedicated AA guns currently versus those same targets. Certainly not what you'd expect, especially for manually aimed ones.

I'll try and keep this short, as I know its been brought up in the past. A friend of mine said that this is a "Known issue, and will be changed in the future" but past posts I've read have had the behavior defended, saying things like "BMP-2 has an AA sight (and neglecting to mention this sight is for use versus helicopters primarily, not fixed wing...) I was shot down puling out of a 4g dive last night on the Hideout mission by a BMP2, moving at nearly 400mph. I was nearly 2km from the BMP2 that hit me. I hate being one to cite anecdotes, but its something that alot of people have had happen from my experiences talking to other players. Is this a known problem, or something that is WAD? Its easy enough to mod, but doing so is effectively cheating...
  23. Erm... having the exact opposite experience. I've engaged at 3500 meters with ease (which seems to incorrectly be the hard-coded FCS max range: Doesnt the M1A2 have it past 4000? The earlier models were 3500) and getting 1-hit kills versus enemy armor. 6-8 seconds seems to be the norm for a M1A2 loader from accounts/conversations I've had, though some particularly bold loaders can get even faster. After they exhaust the main ready rack, they need to go to the other ammo storage which indeed takes 20-30 seconds per round as it has to be passed through the tank to the loader, who puts it on the rack. Technically, though IDK if its doable, the tank should start reloading when idle and transferring all rounds from the storage to the ready rack during downtime in combat... until a Smerch wakes the crew up, that is :P
  24. The Stinger does indeed seem very wonky. But I've had this same behavior on other helicopters as well, it isnt just the KA-50.
