  1. Check users for ping and packet-loss. I had similar problem and it was caused but poor connection of single (!) user who had packet-loss ~30% and ping over half second. No wonder TS-server had problems to keep connections. I already asked on TS-forum, but there is actually no way to auto-disconnect users based on ping/packet-loss limit (unless someone made plugin in between)...
  2. Just a tip: maybe you could create full-/half-/micro-banners for LLTM2014. We would put it on our web-sites to help to spread the word. At least a few sizes, so that we could pick the one that is easiest to include in our web-page layout...
  3. Probably different cooling, or lightly overclocked, more memory, etc. BTW, Asus makes 5 different "GTX670" graphic cards, EVGA even 6. Price-range from 200 up to 500€ here. So pay attention to what you are comparing...
  4. I'm not sure what you mean with "run DCS well", but generally laptops are not recommended for DCS at all. If despite of this you still want to use laptop for DCS, get the fastest you find (and even that will not be fast enough). The only true "gaming" laptops are Dell's Alienware series, but they are expensive as hell... For under 2000$ you can get "17-R1", with i7, 16GB RAM and GTX770M. It is not overkill, as "mobile" i7 is not the same CPU, as desktop i7. The same for GPU: GTX770M (mobile) is from performance point of view something like GTX560 in desktop. But it could run DCS quite well, of course with some compromises. A little cheaper (~1500$) are Asus G750JX or MSI GT70-H, which have similar configuration. Still quite good for DCS. BTW, mobility of these "gaming" laptops is rather theoretical, as they weight ~5kg. Similar, you can forget running DCS on battery, unless you want to play very short mission... Lenovo Y510p is quite old. It has GT750M GPU which is very "consumer" (read: just good enough for some simple games, but not DCS). I do not recommend it, unless you are ready for dissapointment. Remember, with laptops it is so that you can add more RAM later, switch disk for bigger/faster/SSD, or switch CPU (yes, it is also possible), but you have to live with GPU all the time. So buy laptop with the fastest GPU you can afford...
  5. I never took part in any LLTM, but I have read your review of LLTM2011. That made me thinking "damn, next time I must be there!". If LLTM2014 is going to be about the same as LLTM2011 was, I'll be satisfied...
  6. That switch had nothing to do with unlocking, at least not directly. The switch on top of 6950/6970 card allows alternating two different bios-version. So if you cross-flash bios1 (using bios-file of 6970) and you find yourself in big problems (i.e. no graphic output at all) all you have to do is to change switch to bios2, where 6950-bios still was, boot up, and flash back bios1 into 6950. This cross-flashing 6950->6970 was very easy, and afaik worked with over 90% cards of the 1st/2nd series. Having backup-bios in the card made it even quite safe. But this procedure became very popular and AMD/ATI of course got know about it, so in later versions of 6950 they burned-through deactivated units on the GPU, so cross-flashing became impossible...
  7. I wrote long time ago: I DO NOT WANT NEW FEATURES, I WANT TO SEE BUGS BEING FIXED! Right now I do not need anything else. No 10 choppers more, not some funny tank-commander module, no submarines, no space-shuttle, no WW2-era aircrafts, no Rome-empire soldiers with spears and shields, no nukes, no startrek light-swords, no half-life like gravity gun. Nothing more than what already is in DCS. I just want to see *first* all bugs fixed (well, at least those critical) and *then* new modules, features, jets, etc.
  8. I think it is not so that 1.2.6 suddenly needs 8GB. Simply those minimal/recommended requirements were way outdated, maybe even from LOMAC-time. That's why ED probably moved them a little up, in such a step which is maybe not absolutelly necessary right now, but might be once in the future...
  9. Try Ccleaner. Apart from that, clear all tmp-files (i.e. C:\users\user\appdata\local\temp), old restore-points, prefetch-data, web-browser cache, etc.
  10. No offence Viper, but your forum-group reads "ED Tester". Even if you are not affiliated with ED you still participate on testing. Your standpoint might not be so unbiased as ours because you are (at least part-time) "playing for the other team". That's how I see it. And when I'm at it, Q&A is imho the area where ED failed miserably (and is still failing). How some bugs could pass through testing unnoticed remains mystery for me, because users discovered them after just a few minutes of playing. You say multiplayer is WIP. It is indeed. But DCS-World was released a ~year ago! So how long do we have to wait till it gets from "WIP" to "at least so usable as the old FC2-multiplayer"? Another year? Or two? Maybe ten or twenty years? I share Sova's frustration, because I feel the same. And I do not see the light at the end of this tunnel. Being long-time ED customer, supporting ED as I could, buying beta-modules for full prices, even those I do not intend to use. But is ED treating us likewise fairly? I thought it was. But now I'm not so sure...
  11. Read quotations from many announcements: they claim stability was improved, issues fixed. ED is feeding us with the same copy&paste bull*t all the time. But the truth is I do not see any stability worth to talk about. Only unstability... BTW, after having been waiting for ~year since releasing DCS-World paying customers already showed a hell of patience. There is really no need to ask us for more...
  12. 1.2.6: "... update is on game stability..." 1.2.5: "...Further improvements to game stability..." 1.2.4: "... issues causing the network instability have been fixed..." 1.2.3: "...Network code improved for greater stability..." 1.2.1: "...Improved multiplayer stability..." With all do respect, who the hell is trolling here? If that all was true, DCS should be rock-stable. Is it?
  13. Not quite so. Z68-chipset has nothing to do with memory speed, because memory banks are directly connected to CPU. Therefore you will not find anything about memory speed in chipset specification. On the other side, i5-specification allows ddr1333/ddr1600, and list of compatible memory modules goes even up to ddr2933.
  14. Sad to say, but DCS-World even ~one year after its release is not so stable, as FC2 was. And I'm affraid it will not be anytime soon...
  15. I had the "same" memory-kit (just CL-eight, stupid emoticons!)8), and I remember it did not play well with my mobo until I set all memory timings manually. Either SPD was somehow screwed, or bios did not detect it correctly. I can only recommend you to do the same: check corsair's web for specs and set it up manually (I think yours is 9-9-9-24 @1600). Next, in some mobos you have to populate ram-slots in prescribed order. For example, in my case two ram-modules must be in 1st and 3rd dimm-slot. If I put them in 1st and 2nd, system does not boot.
  16. Personally I think DCS is not stable enough yet to hold on-line event for 50+ players with mission taking 3+ hours...
  17. That is not true. DirectX/OpenGL is supported up to certain level on some virtual machines. You can even run 3dMark in some VM, or even 3d-games. Of course there is some pefrormance penalty, but it is still usable. 3d-graphics in virtual machines is better suported in type-2 hypervisors (OS-assisted, i.e. VirtualBox or VMware Workstation), but works on some type-1 too (i.e. ESXi has the option of either software rendering - SVGA, virtual shared gpu - vSGA, virtual dedicated gpu - vDGA, or pass-through gpu). FYI, I tested the old original LOMAC in virtual machine some 6-7 years ago, and it worked even at that time! :-)
  18. But not enough done!
  19. IMHO in your case upgrading GFX makes more sense. GTX770 costs less than half of i7-975, but gives you higher performance boost. I went for it from 6970 too... If despite of that you still want to upgrade CPU, there is no reason to invest in s1366 anymore, if you can get more powerful socket1150/2011-based cpu+mobo for less money, than i7-975.
  20. But I have all on fast SSD, and with 1.2.5 I had load-time ~5 seconds (just guessing, because it was so fast I never bothered to measure it). Trust me, once you get used to apps starting instantly you *will* notice the difference wenn something suddenly takes half minute to start. Of course, 6-8min is different story...
  21. Clean install, both OS (Win7/64b) and DCS on 840/Pro (SSD): 32 seconds loading time! WTF is this??? The first LOMAC on HDD/PATA did not take this long to load...
  22. May I ask who made that CPU for you? Intel released Core2Duo E8400 in Q1/2008, that is no more than 5 and half years ago (real availability was a few months later). So if you bought it 7 years ago, someone made it especially for you more then one year before oficial release... Concering ATI 4980, I'd like to hear more about it. Especially because this has never been released by ATI. Highest single-gpu model of 4k-series was 4890. This was released in 04/2009, that's ~4 years ago.
  23. I tell you what I'd do: 1. switch i7-4770K for i5-4670K and thus saving ~100 bucks. Basically, the only difference is hyperthreading which is of no use for DCS. 2. what I saved on CPU I'd invest in better GFX, i.e. instead of GTX760 I'd buy GTX770. 3. I'd pick higher-rated PSU. These GFX-cards take >200W, plus CPU ~100, and you might be on limit. I'd go at least 700W-way. 4. Better MoBo! Asrock is low-end, I'd take something from Asus, with updated chipset (Z87/C2). And of course full-size board with plenty of expansion slots, not some crappy ITX-board! You have to take care of good cooling, so you need space, not all components crapped together with GFX blowing hot air directly on chipset cooler...
  24. OK, but there are still two more question: Q1. Why ED just gave this list to Steam? I do not believe someone from Steam just emailed ED like: Steam: "hey folks, we'd like to have list of all serials, can you send it to us?" ED: "yeah of course, we always like to send whatever to whoever asks for it!" Q2. What is Steam going to do with that list? Even if it is just list of serials, they are still unique identification of customers (even if not to Steam). I do not like the idea of Steam harvesting some info and sending it back to ED like "customer with this key purchased these products on Steam" etc...
  25. BTW in case someone never heard of, steam has really "nice" reputation concering customers' data protection. One more reason to be worried...
