1. Of *all* sold modules, even those sold not using steam-channel? I'd like to know what Steam is going to do with it, and why ED actually gave them this list...
2. "...Today we were informed that all DCS activation keys purchased through Eagle Dynamics, with the exception of the Black Shark 2 Upgrade, have been merged to Steam..." What does this mean to us (users)? Which information has been transfered to Steam exactly? Only key-numbers, nothing else? Or key-user pairs? Honestly, I do *NOT* like this at all. I do not want to have anything common with steam. I used it and I remember how it f***ed my system. Our ways got separated since then and I want to stay it that way...
3. Voting for it too! It is more fun with 27/15 ballanced...
4. And what if I have nothing to hide and nothing to send? AFAIK it is possible to "turn off" track recording (or at least set its maximum size very small, so it stops recording pretty soon). Some mates do this to reduce stuttering due to writing to disk during play, to save some write-cycles for their SSDs, and/or to squeeze 0.001 fps more...
5. Simply put, go for OPTION 1, with one modification: pick i5-4670K. Even if you do not want to overclock, just pick it. Sooner or later you'll find you do not have enough cpu-power, and then benefits of unlocked K-version CPU might come handy...
6. It *is* still true, but not because of degrading speed, but because of "wear-leveling".
7. Answer to your problem is in your signature: AMD 8320
8. I spent a day playing with settings, I even reformated drive and installed OS and DCS on clean disk, before checking for reported bugs. I see I am not the only one with this problem. Actually, this was the first thing I noticed: HUGE fps drop after update from 1.2.4 to 1.2.5 when on airport or low-flight. It is the old story over and over again... I said some time ago: I do not want new DCS-modules, planes, weapons, terrains, whatever, I do not want anything new, but what I DO WANT is having a patch/update which does not brings anything new but just fixes all known bugs. Or at least those critical, affecting gameplay (fps-drops, instability, multiplayer, etc.). If only could ED concentrate on this, and nothing else... I know it is not easy, but quite "some" time passed since DCS was released. I think it is time to bring it finally (!) to solid playable level. Look it from our perspective: we all here are loyal long-time customers. We want to get what we payed for. But what we got is just eternal beta-product, far from being stable. Even if you do not call it "beta". The amount of bugs and problems is simply too hight to call it "final version"...
9. "K-versions" of Intel sandy/ivy-bridge CPU have unlocked multiplier. That gives you free hand for overclocking (which btw these cpus can handle very well). Moreover, price difference (K vs. non-K) is very small, so why not go for it? You can never have too much cpu/gpu-power, when playing DCS...
10. With all do respect to ED and their testers, sometimes I ask myself: how could *this* pass through quality-check? I understand not everyting can be fixed right now, but what I do not understand is why new bugs (so easily to notice after 5min of playing!) can be introduced? I have a feeling number of bugs is not decreasing, but staying ~the same. Some get fixed, some new added...
11. I vote for i5/k & gtx760 too. i5/k has the best performance/price ratio. And if possible, I'd suggest stretching that 128GB/ssd to 240-256GB version. SSD should not be filled more than to 50% of its capacity (which one can easily overshoot on 128GB with Win7 & DCS:ALL)...
12. Taking into account you meet virtual opponents of mixed level, I'd say you are no way "noob" if you keep k/d ratio close to 1:1. And if you fly "Su-27FC3", I'd call you an ace if you have this score...
13. No, you did not. A friend would never try to rob you...
14. No price limit? OK, here you have it: cpu: Intel Core i7-3970X ssd: Micron P320h SSD 700GB ram: 4x G.Skill TridentX DIMM Kit 16GB PC3-24000U mobo: Intel Extreme Series DX79SI But before you set on shopping trip, have ~$10k ready...
15. I'm pleased you stopped falsely accusing me...
16. And where (in this thread) did I say someting about modular/non-modular software?
17. True. But as I said, a true dedicated server should not have rendering subsystem at all, so in this case it might be better to talk about "removing" rendering, not "replacing"... Maybe, I do not know. But I sincerely hope (!) dedicated server will be coded from scratch so it does not matter what can or can not be turned off in dcs-world client... Well, it's "a little" difficult to stop worrying about software development related problems, if you are working as... software developer! ;-)
18. What the hell has graphic engine replacemenet to do with dedicated server development? How could these two tasks be interrelated? True dedi server should not have any traces of graphic engine at all, so the only replacement should be one of the kind "replacing something with nothing" (in which case "replacement" is probably not the most suitable word)...
19. Dedicated server interrelated with graphic engine???
20. Rhinox

Censorship?

So deeply you fell that you remove posts critisizing terrible ED-support? Which rule number did it violate? Your pride? Customer can not use product he payed for, he does not get ANY SUPPORT FOR NEARLY HALF YEAR and he can not even express his dissapointment over this (so called) "support"? Shame on you ED, shame on you! Never thought you could resort to such a disrespectful behaviour...
21. The one that matches all the recommended system requirements: Recommended system requirements: Operating system 64-bit: Windows Vista and 7; Processor: CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400, AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better; Memory: 4GB; Hard disk space: 7 GB; Video: Shader 3.0 or better; 896MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 DirectX 9.0c or better; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; DirectX: 9.0C; requires internet activation. I can not help but laugh every time I see it is still (!) on dcs-webpage. I would not call it even "minimal system requirements"! Playin DCS on such a system is pain in a**. I know, because I tried it and I'm still having nightmares...
22. How/Where can one register for this event???
23. If his system is bottom-end, how do you call this: Operating system 64-bit: Windows Vista and 7; Processor: CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400, AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better; Memory: 4GB; Hard disk space: 7 GB; Video: Shader 3.0 or better; 896MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 DirectX 9.0c or better; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; DirectX: 9.0C; requires internet activation. Guess what? Yeah, those are "recommended system requirements" for DCS:World! And I'm not gonna copy&paste those "minimal", I do not want to risk someone die from laughter... :-D
24. I tried updater, but it was sooooo sloooooow. So I tried to download installer, pick "FTP Mirror #2 (Russia)", and now I have download speed ~1.1 MB/s (max what my 10mbit line can handle). So for me to download installer is much faster than in-game updater, or torrents...
