  1. Is what it would look like if someone were flying a Mirage 2k shape and weapons swap online?
  2. Yes, but it's equally nonsensical for users who routinely run as administrator to rant about how their security has been comprimised, which also happened. It was a certainly a flaw, it just got blown out of proportion here.
  3. "You must think in Russian..." :D I love that movie. One of these days I'm going to have to pick up the DVD.
  4. Frankly, I'd be pretty shocked if the USAF didn't have a MiG-29 or two and a couple of Su-27s in service for testing and whatever. Wouldn't even need to pull of something FireFox-ish. Heck, MiG-29s have been on eBay...
  5. Re: OT - Mig-29 sighted flying over Area 51! Assuming they still do testing there it makes a lot of sense for a MiG to be there. Probably not being tested itself, but being tested against some new gadget or other. For instance, what better way to test the low observable features of the JSF (or whatever) than by throwing a MiG at it? Still be rather cool to see, of course.
  6. I doubt that's what they're planning on doing, but I imagine it's possible they'll remove it if it causes the kinds of problems some people are predicting. Also, you said that StarForce would make it impossible for you to buy more than one copy. I don't get the logic there. How so?
  7. Ditto. I'd really like the Ka-50, but if the right areas were worked on I could do without. Can't really say which I'd prefer w/o knowing what would hypothetically be improved in its place. And we (almost) all agree that an F-18 would be nice to have. The idea was beaten to death and then beaten some more over on the Ubi boards. It would add a lot to the sim, but don't hold your breath.
  8. Ah, ok. Looked like you were dismissing his efforts based on a few details. Nevermind then, carry on. :)
  9. Picky picky picky. It's a great looking model, he's not getting paid for it and it's certainly better than the current one.. If you feel you could do better, then by all means do so.
  10. Well, I can think of one blue-side helo that has one crew member and no MFDs...The AH-1 Cobra. That's also a helo I haven't seen simulated in...as far as I know...ever. EDIT: Ok, I forgot about Flying Nightmares II having the Super Cobra...but that was a long while ago. Wasn't Flying Nightmares II cancelled? Anyway, not sure about the MFD situation in Cobras, but it's definately not a single seater. http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/2848/images/cobra_1.jpg
  11. I was unexpecting it to be higher, so this is a pleasant surprise. Yes, it's much more than I personally paid for the original, but I bought mine used for next to nothing. Oh, and I voted DL and PayPal. PayPal works for me and I don't need no stinkin CD.
  12. Re: Is the X-36 any good? Actually, if you can find one, even a TrackIR 1 will make a huge difference and will cost less than a 2 or 3. Since I'm currently a student cost is a huge factor for me. I recently found an original TrackIR on eBay, didn't pay much for it and couldn't be more pleased with it. (Granted I've never used a 2 or 3...)
  13. Re: OT - Impossivel!!!!! I cant believe this!!! It's an interesting story, but the author herself makes it political and thus innapropriate by taking a completely unrelated swipe at Ted Kennedy at the bottom. Besides, beyond "Wow" and "Lucky guy!", what more is there to say? It's a political blog.. Them's the breaks.
  14. The Durandals could stand some improvement, though. Mostly in the size and shape of the hole they make... Also, it'd be absolutely brilliant if someone with 3d modelling skills redid the F-111 model...
  15. Also, IMHO the MiG-29k would be a great candidate for someone to re-do the 3d model. As would the F-111 for that matter.
  16. Personally I don't have a problem with either the halos or the flames. The human eye picks up light from a real source extremely well, and it stands out (hence the reason for things like daytime running lights on cars). This really isn't properly captured in photos or sims. The editing job you did is nice, but makes it look like the light is not on when in RL it very obviously would be. The flames are also a descent compromise, IMHO. Realistic or not, no transparency at all just wouldn't look right, I think. Beyond that, yes campaigns are good. The new movie intro type thing should allow for some very immersive campaings, both from the devs and from the community. Also, an F-18 or whatever in the future would be a great addition. I'm not holding my breath, though.
  17. It'd be nice if they released a version that included the bug fixes, but things like customizable smoke are new features and they'd have to be nuts to give them away. It's not just theSu-25T you're paying for when you buy 1.1, but all the new tweaks and enhancements. "No bucks, no Buck Rodgers" - Stormin on the Ubi boards
