One more remark. Su is pronounced as "soo" in Russian, and Tu as "too". I am a Russian myself (да), so trust me. Hover, I can't tell about Western conventions on Russian aircraft name pronunciation.

I don't believe Osprey is likely to be made. It must still be largely sekrit. And hard to implement correctly even if ED had all info necessary. I know that we already have a (buggy) Harrier, but still... It's not something I would bet my money on. Maybe it's Tornado, maybe even F-111, might be century series fighter. Less likely it might be some Cold War era Red strike fighter like Su-17 or MiG-27. Even less likely is my dream of Su-27 or MiG-29 families. Choppers are not as likely as jets due to some wording convenientions in community. All of this is just IMHO, of course.

Dear devs, could you please explain why this thread is in the Wishlist section now? Does it mean the module is cancelled, or is it because the thread has turned into a place where people just express their wishes, or something else? P.s. though it seems to me they wouldn't visit this thread anymore...

Sorry, but it's not likely to happen. ED stated before that it wouldn't release any new FC-level modules. And MiG-31 must be too classified to make it in full fidelity. Sad but true. I understand your frustration, but we still can't get even early MiG-29, which is waaaaay simpler. BTW, F-14A is coming very soon, and it is officially in Iranian service, so having a Red Tomcat on PG map is totally legit, no need for a worthy rival.

The problem with 3rd gen Redfor stuff is that it's great, but wouldn't address the capability gap between the reds and the blues we have. Especially in A-G role. And we already have MiG-21 and 23 is coming. And problem with modern FC4 stuff is that it's doubtful that they can have all of their much wanted functionality unleashed without full-fidelity systems model, or, at the very least, a clickable cockpit. Too many interactions with planes systems are needed to use keypad. Maybe I'm wrong though.

It still is named M2000C on Steam. I was wrong stating that it's still not licensed NOW, but it initially wasn't. Or at least, that's what they often say on the forums. If I'm wrong please forgive me, I just read this story about Mirage several times here and on Hoggit.

My idea is not actually about catering to those from poorer counties, it was about the fact that most players even from the rich countries are not die-hard fanatical virpils ready to throw hundreds and even thousands of dollars into a mere game. Many would have only mid or hi-mid end PC's, no VR and only a basic joystick, and they would not spend more than they already do on modules because it'a just a game for them, not a life-defining hobby and definitely not some status consumption like some here perceive it. Those people constitute the majority of customers. And they are going to be lost be cranking the prices. In poorer countries the current prices are still bearable to most of the local DCS communities, but the effect of even higher prices would be disastrous for the consumer base, if there is no regional adjustment for prices. And those countries are significant for ED, Russian market for one has a double digit percentage of the whole sales. EDIT: And when it comes to fears about ED going out of business, they boasted great increase in consumer base and turnover over the last few years, which has even allowed them to vastly increase their manpower. They are not nearly as wealthy and robust as EA or some other giant corp, but thankfully it doesn't seem to be in a trouble for the time being. And as I have already written, pricing much more would mean losing much of the audience, or making those who stay buy less... This can easily prove much more troublesome than what we already have. Anyways, ED knows how to do their business better than us here on forums. They have been quite successful so far, for a company of such a niche. They don't really want our advice on this matter, and our petty forum disputes here wouldn't affect their decision-making.
-
DCS community is the only one petitioning the devs to INCREASE prices. What a time to be alive! By the way, ED doesn't have regionally adjusted prices, unlike most other gamedevs. So a Russian like myself and an American or Dutchman would pay the equal sum... Which is already quite high, as most AAA titles for PC nowadays cost around 2k rubles pre-covid, and an F/A-18 costs more than 5k rubles... Already. And you want this sum to increase even more. And no sales. Do you really think community wouldn't shrink after this? It certainly would even in the rich western countries, and the ex-soviet one would almost cease to exist, because buying a module costing 10k rubles, for which you can buy 5 AAA games, in a country which is quite poor, is not even funny, it's straight insanity. I know this genre is quite a narrow niche, and requires some passion be default... But if you require just THIS level of sacrifice for the sake of flying just one virtual airplane... I believe that the number of copies saled would drop so much it would diminish extra gain from increased price. Not everyone is as fanatic as you are here. No offense, just saying that not everyone is ready to buy the top PC, full HOTAS set and VR set and pay hundreds of dollars for the sake of flying a few virtual planes. You might be the ones, and might mostly communicate with people with the same mindset, but I don't really think that this is the case for the silent majority of the community. Even among the simmers such people aren't the majority. Most view the sim as just a game, and have a threshold for the amount of cash they can spend on it. And ED would lose them if they accept what you offer.

About licensing. RAZBAM didn't obtain license for their M2000C, that's why it isn't called "Mirage" as it should be. Maybe the non-Russian dev condition is precisely because a foreign company can do a Russian aircraft without dealing with govt permissions?
-
Well, my hope is that RAZBAM will do early MiG-29 (or M or SMT if we are lucky, K if we are blessed by heavens) after they release MiG-23. But they already have an enormous amount of planned work and their team is small, and there are some issues with currently existing modules of theirs. Yet it seems more likely than to have a Russian module developed by any other 3rd party currently existing. Maybe a new 3rd party developer may join us, and will announce Russian stuff, but that's something completely unpredictable. BTW, it has been suggested numerous times by some people here that we should bombard the 3rd parties subforums with such requests, not ED's. I know some threads were created there a long time ago, but they were not as popular as those created here. Maybe we should start a thread at, say, RAZBAM subforum and at least have some answer about whether it's possible and interesting for them to create more Russian modules, especially modern ones?
-
That's really sad, but I didn't really expect my dream to come true, not this time. Ok, will have to wait till (and if) some 3rd party finally rolls out some Russian modern stuff 5 years from now. Heartbreaking for me, but nothing can be done about this.
-
Chizh vigorously denied that the Flanker can be done by ED last month on the Russian forum, telling it was still classified. So I guess the answer would be "no". But Nineline told on hoggit that this only applied specifically to the Su-27, so if there is a hope for a 4th gen Russian fighter, early versions of MiG-29 are the most probable (but still not so much realistic) bet.
-
I know this, so I don't say we definitely will get this bird, but that maybe we will. I just hypothesized. Still, it's much more realistic than Su-27/MiG-29 and, given that MiG-23 and Mi-24 are already being developed, it has a chance of being allowed by Russian authorities. Or at least there's a possibility that it can be made by a 3rd party, but that's a different story.
-
Maybe we would not get any Russian stuff still in service, but will get something like Su-17/22? After all, it was retired in the 90's, so there is little to keep classified about it nowadays. And we've already got MiG-23MLA (though 3rd party) and Mi-24P, both are too 70's-early 80's technologies, the latter is still operational with RuAF. An Su-17 is going to be a great addition to the MiG-21/23 and, together with Mi-8 and -24, would pretty much close the major niches of Soviet Cold War era tactical aircraft.
-
Yet another topic asking for the same modern or semi-modern Russian aircraft. I wholeheartedly support this desire, but people here have been creating exactly the same threads for years, yet the answers are always the same. I personally wish that either the "eagerly awaited aircraft" to be announced this year is finally Russian, or some third party makes what is asked for here. But, to be honest, I find asking for the same thing every two or so weeks pointless, no matter how much "+1" replies we get. Demand for the modern red stuff has already been expressed strongly enough on the forums, there is nothing we can achieve through repeatedly starting "gib me MiG" threads, as sad as it is.
-
Has anyone already asked about modern Russian stuff? If ao, was there any answer? Anyways, full fi MiG-29 or Su-27 would be great, and their early multirole versions would be absolutely fantastic.
-
So, does this mean that hope is not lost yet for a Russian 4th gen? Or is it just some lack of coordination between different ED workers, and 9Lines' guess is as good as ours? I very much hope for the former, but the latter sounds a little bit more realistic. But maybe it's just me being a pessimist.
-
Sorry if this question has already been asked, but will it be possible to see modern jets, especially red ones, like Su-30 or MiG-29SMT flyable in MAC? Since it's not as detailed as DCS, I still entertain my hope for red multirole staff.
-
Actually, I don't even know what could be "mindmelting" if it's not some relatively modern Russian or Chinese plane. Another NATO toy? We already have plenty of them, including EF and the whole teen series (if you count RAZBAM F-15E). A BLUEFOR attack chopper? It's not nearly "mindmelting", after Mi-24 was announced and since we know AH-1 was elaborated on but freezed (but only due to manpower concerns, no problems with data as it seems). So there's nothing really that could earn such a description in my eyes, since CHIZH on Russian forum once again denied Russian modern jets. That really makes me sad. Though I still hope that if Hind is possible nowadays, than maybe CHIZH just doesn't tell as everything.

Well, maybe it's possible to make a priced add-on to the current Caucasus map including Crimea and Novorossia? The basic map would still be free, but those desiring the expansion would pay for it. But I understand that it's going to run into some technical problems, maybe it's not even possible to allow such a distinction between free and paid-for parts of map technically, but if there is a way to do this, it's worth considering?
