  1. Yeah, you are right. Not my problem.
  2. I don't believe the Steam keys are transferable. You should download the openbeta web installer and repurchase F-16 and Marianas. You can keep your Steam version at Stable, but don't buy any licenses there if you want to go Standalone now. I have the same setup.
  3. Sorry, Red Forces = Redfor.
  4. Try JF-17's and Vipers on the Redfor team as well for a real challenge.
  5. I think I'll do some Marianas ground action. Schedule a couple of recon flights. Place some Redfor targets, and boom boom.
  6. DCS is VRAM hungry. Get as much VRAM as you can afford. The 3080Ti is an excellent choice that is very future proof right now.
  7. That sounds like me in Lost Ark! One more tip, split the tasks into flying and fighting. Get your flying controls mapped and memorized. There's a lot of enjoyment to be had just flying around the maps. Add the cannon, and a missile, add a bomb, etc. One thing at a time, and soon it will click.
  8. The comparison is valid for NIS and Sharpening, which is what the OpenXR Toolkit brings to the table for VR. These features are applied after the frame is released by the game to the card so their benefits are not game engine specific.
  9. Yes, FXAA is fine for full resolution, but as you drop PD the jaggies start to get more noticeable. For awhile I was running full native resolution with no AA or AF, just to keep the GPU processing time down to a minimum. You can get used to some jaggies after awhile as long as the performance is rock solid. The sim can pump the frames. I think lower PD with more AA and AF gets you a smoother result. If you are just cruising in your favourite ride then you can have high PD with a little AA, but it fails the stress test. It's a trade-off: more pixels, less AA and AF required. With lower PD you need to sharpen it up.
  10. Thanks for that excellent video link. By his logic, the deferred rendering engine of DCS benefits from as much AA and AF as possible. Give this a spin: SteamVR 100, Adv SS Filtering On, Motion Smoothing On, Textures Medium, Terrain Textures Low, Vis Range Low, MSAA X4, SSAA X2, SSLR On, and AF x8 and Pixel Density 0.5. The only way to get that much AA working is to bring down the pixel count, so low textures and low PD with high AA and AF. I find the G2 can handle this during rolls without that juddering that occurs at the edge of vision. Try some barrel rolls over the Marianas at sunset. I can get it to judder in a couple of spots, but for the most part it can support a WWII dogfight, IMHO.
  11. Sure, but I can hear the smile on his face as he's flying it.
  12. I don't think so. It was as good as they could get it, and they found a way to make it better. I really thought it was done, but now I'm as excited as a schoolboy for the new one!
  13. Tested my suggestion on the PG map. What could go wrong? Winter storm! Mission called! Get airborne! Zero visibility on the ground. Beautiful dawn dogfight with some JF's, Mig-29's and SU-25's with the sun not quite over the horizon. Then a Su-25 tricks me into flying into a mountainside. I don't think I could have done a zero vis landing in the Viper anyway.
  14. This is a blast from the past: Cap's adventures with extreme weather. Unless I missed it, I did not find a thread where we can share weather tips and tricks. I wonder how many use the Random weather preset button to add variety to their missions.
  15. Excellent! Strange to keep those fuel bags on during all that jinking. Cat III for the win.
  16. Yes, I prefer SteamVR CRM instead of PD for that same reason: finer control. I'm testing 40%CRM now. I thought it was perfect before, but now it's ever better. Thanks again!
  17. Thanks, Speed. First time playing with Pixel density. LOL!
  18. A quick way to get to good performance is to click the VR preset, set Visib Range to Low, and Pixel Density to .5. The only change I make is to set 60 hz and Motion Smoothing OFF in WMR and Steam VR.
  19. Correct. You can try setting the refresh to 60hz in WMR. Motion smoothing should lock you to 30 fps in this case. I am currently running 60hz with Motion Smoothing OFF, Visibility Range LOW. This is the smoothest I have manged for DCS in the G2. I can turn up all the eye candy with these settings and get perfect frames.
  20. I am having great success with my G2 set to 60 hz in WMR, Motion Smoothing OFF, Resolution 1600x900 (my monitor is 16:9 so the GUI fits nicely in 2D), and Visibility Range LOW. Crank the rest up at your leisure.
  21. Does anyone know if DCS even has 5k textures? Is the OP seeing stretched 4k textures?
  22. Please check your monitor color settings. You want to choose the preset with the highest color saturation. I use Movie or Theatre mode for better dark colors. Also Gamma = 1.8 is best for daytime flying, but higher settings are better for low light flights.
  23. A little harsh maybe, but these are troubling times. Remember that jaggies are screen artifacts; they are not in the frames that the game produces. I am personally flying without AA, AF, SS, or any terrain shadows, and I have the 3080Ti. At 5k you should not need any AA or AF or SS at all.
  24. Perform, maybe, look? If you drag the Clutter/Grass slider all the way to the right it should look much better. I smell troll.
