  1. Omg. All I can say is, this addon is absolutely incredible. Wow.
  2. So, I bought it along with a stock copy of FSX :) Downloading now...
  3. Useful thread - thanks :) StrongHarm, your steps is great.
  4. 74th is a great place to play - great guys there with a very knowledgeable command, you will learn a lot! Glad you're enjoying the game :)
  5. Thanks :)
  6. First off, this is hugely obvious and most of you have probably considered it, however I hadn't! So we're discussing the bombs etc and I say to him "Why would you ever use unguided bombs? Why not always use laser and GPS guided munitions?" I was genuinely confused about their possible use, when suddenly he came back with the most common sense statement possible, I was shocked at how stupid I'd been not to consider it... "Guided munitions cost a lot more". Felt stupid after that, but in hindsight I guess the world of simulators don't place these kind of constraints on us! Just thought I'd share :)
  7. Hey all, Read somewhere there is a way to see mission progress or percent completed? Is this true? If so, how? Have searched the manual and GUI guide and cant find it! Thank you
  8. Interesting replies, thank you guys :) I often wondered about the validity of older sims without the direct maths to work off. How about FC2 then, are they considered closer to the arcade than realistic?
  9. Hi guys, Just curious about educated opinions really. People often talk about the realism of a flight model but how do they really rank up? For example, I suppose on a sliding scale with Hawx/Battlefield at 1 with DCS/PMDG at 10, you'd rank RoF an 8 and Flaming Cliffs 2 (excluding SU25t) possible 7? Where does this leave the IL2 stuff? I guess basically I'm interested in how realistic the many sims we fly are considered, though I would presume DCS and the latest PMDG stuff is considered the best. What are your opinions?
  10. I've noticed in the recent patch that when I get closer to the refueling boom it's significantly more responsive. Pretty sure this isn't just me getting better (would be nice if it was) however I can now take on a full load of fuel without too much difficulty. If it is, thanks ED for making it less frustrating :)
  11. Sod all this trimming malarcky, just hit the autopilot :D

    Uk Riots

Are you serious? These riots are tame compared to even every day happenings in some parts of the USA!
  13. I tried MD11 with REX/GEX etc etc but it ran REALLY badly :( Isn't the standard scenary really bad??
  14. I would LOVE to get this but am sure my PC won't run it :( Maybe one day!
  15. You'd want gore added before compatibility with Black Shark and more features? Over new terrain and new aircraft? Why exactly DO you want gore anyway? Why not soldiers chatting, or stripping rifles and cleaning them? All of these things add realism in exactly the same was as gore does, yet you don't seem to want them....Why? Because you want to see how much destruction the cannon and bombs can deal in a realistic way, which is in many ways the whole point of the sim. Fair enough, if you're into that sort of thing. But there are far, far higher priorities in the game and adding gore will not improve the sim. Mohamengina, with regard to you liking video games brutal and violent that is fair enough, some people enjoy horror films and that isn't a negative trait on their personality in my opinion (though people that enjoy the Saw movies are definitely odd). The fact is, this isn't a video game ala Fear or Doom 3, it is a high quality simulation. There is simply no need for the gore.
  16. Nevada is a work in progress and will be paid for DLC, unless you bought the game in beta in which case it'll be free! Don't have time to answer the other questions but hope you get the answer youre looking for!
  17. I agree entirely - I'm a complete pacifist though, I see war as something that should be a measure only used under direct threat, when prolonged and extensive negotiations have failed (e.g ww2). DCS-A10 is about an aircraft, it's systems, and mastery of both. Start turning it into a system whereby people are getting blown up and suddenly it moves from being a celebration of aviation and technology, to a celebration of murder. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to play COD!
  18. There used to be a rumour back in around '99 that the top quake 3 players could accurately tell the difference between 55 and 60fps! Not sure if it was true though...
  19. I don't think that's necessarily correct. Trying to outperform the opposition isn't always the best business sense. You can completely avoid them and gain a market share that way. FA/18 vs FA/18 would split a community, as for those happy with the VRS product there would be no good reason to make a move to the DCS engine. Something like an F15E would pull over those from F4 and Superbug simply because it is a new fresh product. I think it's generally best to be innovative (e.g the KA50/A10c) as it is guaranteed to interest people, rather than to try to outdo something which has already been done (to a very high standard, judging by the reviews of the VRS Superbug). Anyway, I wouldn't imagine that the dynamics of the civilian flight simulation market have much (if any) implication on the air frame we receive. Despite that I still think the next simulator is probably the Hornet, based on the limited evidence we have available.
  20. Hey guys, thanks so much :) The video helped a lot, now I understand why I was missing :)
  21. I'm all for a nanny state if it keeps us free of people that want to simulate oblitaration of body parts!:P
  22. Hey guys, Just a curiousity here. Hypothetical (though often reality) scenario... Target locked in the TGP, weapon systems setup correctly in CCRP mode, not too much wind, drop a GPS guided munition on a stationary target with a smooth and stable approach yet...Bomb misses. This happens maybe 1 in 4 times. Just trying to perfect it and rule out variables which are causing this. For laser guided munitions, does the laser have an altitude limit? I know that youre not meant to fire the laser straight away (I usually lase after 10 or so seconds if dropping from 16k feet. Anyway, am I doing something wrong or is it just a case of "it's not an exact science, sometimes bombs miss" Cheers :)
  23. I'd just come on to quote that too! How can somebody responsible for so many deaths walk free after 21 years?! He'll get out when he's just over 50 with a long life ahead of him....He should never walk free again. The death penalty would be too lenient.
  24. :D:beer:
  25. Wow you went a LONG time ago then! The new patch was just released too which brings many improvements. The game is far superior to when you last played!
