  1. Also after some weighing up of opinions, I believe the slowdown you get from using the cockpit screens is GPU related...The physics and model is simulated whatever happens, however what you see on those screens is directly related to rendering, which is a result of your gpu power...So I believe GPU makes the biggest difference there... If I'm wrong, somebody please correct me!
  2. Hi mate, I myself have just bought a gtx 460, upgrading from a gtx 260...I'm running a Q6600 @ 2.6ghz with 4gb of ram...If you can wait til weds I can give you some FPS benchmarks between the cards - I believe my 260 is a bit better than your 8800 and so if I see a big difference, you should see even more!
  3. Sorry guys...I meant 1900-1200...:D Okay, I've done some thorough research...Basically, my chip/mobo combo will not go above a 285fsb..it's something to do with the RAM and a lack of a multiplier..So, I've narrowed it down to just upgrading the GPU. My final, final, final question is... given that my CPU is locked at 2.6ghz, will I see an FPS increase moving up to a GTX460, from my GTX260? Thank you :)
  4. Thanks ethereal :-) I will do just that. I hope the gtx460 fives me a good fps boost! Thanks again!
  5. Hello everyone, I am almost decided on an upgrade from your advice and the advice of a friend. My computer (gtx260,4gb ddr2 ram and a q6600 @ 2.6) mainly runs fine but slowls when rendering aircraft and that sort f stuff. Something I failed to mention is that I also have a 24 inch screen so I have to run at 1900-1600 or it looks very bad. So here is a friends idea...oc the CPU to 3ghz and replace gpu with a gtx 460...will this offer my a bit of an fps increase? If I get the all clear I will purchase today! Thanks again for all your help everyone!
  6. Hanks very much for your advice power! Much appreciated. A friend has offered another idea... He suggests I buy a good aftermarket fan, and a gtx 460. I said that my mobo struggles to oc but he said if I persevere I will get it to at least 3ghz. This would come in well under budget. What do you guys think? Thanks
  7. Mobo is p5b vm se by the way
  8. Power if I go past this amount my Internet stops working! Apparently it's something to do with the pci-e frequency but I'm not sure. If t would oc I would set it to 3.2 or something and that'd probably be fine. I tried it manually and it hangs above 2.6.... Very annoying!
  9. Okay guys thanks for the advice. I will hold off on a purchase for a few months, it just I have 2 issues...most of the time the gameruns fine but on the runway when there are a few a10s parked up I get very low fps, and also if I upload the whole cannon clip into the ground it slows down too! Perhaps I am being picky as it is often very smooth... Is anyone playing on a worse rig than me? I should stop inspecting the fps and try to enjoy the game :-) Also, I have a bad mobo and can't get past 2.6ghz, which is where I have it now!
  10. Thas an interesting idea - i that the best 775 socket available at that budget?
  11. for example, this - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/174597 I think I could move my Ram an gtx260 over, I've got a good qualitt 750Watt PSU too, so I think I'd be all set. Games like Bad Company 2 ec run perfectly which leads me to believe my isses with RoF and A10 are purely CPU based. If this CPU and Mobo would give a good boost for medium graphics, I'd be happy to go ahead... Thanks for you patience
  12. Hey MTF, I know! Sorry for not making myself clear, I can afford that CPU and a motherboard too! There are plenty for about 50 quid which put me within my budget. What do you think? Like I said before, highest graphics I am not bothered about, I just want it smooth and I am sure that it's my CPU bottlenecking me!
  13. Thank you for the replies - spending more is not really an option for a long while! I am no looking for highest graphics etc, just smooth gameplay at medium and asubstantial boost over m q6600! Do you not think something like this: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/186428 Would offer that? Thanks again, if you don't consider t worth it I will just keep my q6600! Thanks :)
  14. Hi all, First of all, happy new year! I wish you all a prosperous 2011. Anyway, the question concerns my pc. At the moment I have a q6600, 4gb ddr 2 ram and a gtx260. I get quite a low fps on a10 at times and feel my CPU is the thing to upgrade? I have an upper budget of 200 pounds (uk) and was wondering if you guys think this will afford me a decent upgrade? I have a socket 775 mono so may need to change it! CN I do much with this budget? Apologies for bad grammar, I am on a mobile! Best wishes all Con
  15. That's cool Kevlon (Kinda!)..What's your rig?
  16. Beta 4! Hey all, Just got back home for Christmas and saw Beta 4 is out! I've had the game uninstalled due to some annoying low fps issues - does the new patch do much for FPS? mine was fine all of the time except at a few airfields and a few fps hitches...Are there any significant improvements on this type of rig: q6600 @ 2.6ghz, gtx 260 896mb of ram and 4gb ddr 2 ram @ 800mhz hope you all had a great holiday and hope the new year is even better! Con
  17. Merry Xmas all!
  18. Hahaha, I bought Just Cause 2 for £3 or so...Installed and never run..Never will be either!
  19. Cheers guys, though ti make it work I had to reinstall! Thanks again
  20. Hello everyone, for some reason whenever I trim my aircraft my joystick becomes disabled...until I press crlt T to reset it at which point it reactivates..any idea what might cause this? Thanks!
  21. It ran better for me after 1.0.2. Also, they added a new sound engine I believe...Be aware though that the tutorials got removed in the latest patch! Con
  22. Hello all! I have recently been playing rise of flight as well as Dcs: bs, and have a couple of questions... First, do you guys know if rise of flight is of the same calibre in terms of realism as Dcs: bs? Also, and please don't take this as an insult becaus I love the Dcs series, rise of flight feels like you're really flying, you can sense the speed of the vehicle... Is that the nature of the old aircraft, or because the engine is better at this kind of stuff? Really wish Dcs:bs gave the same sense of speed! It runs very very smoothly compared to Dcs: bs but maybe that is because it isn't simulating things like abris? Slightly pointless question I guess but very curious! Cheers!
  23. They're not crates, they're beautiful!
  24. Thanks :) I would rather get it digitally at the moment as I have a long weekend to play it! Am I right in thinking I just need to buy Lock on ($9.99) and FC2 ($29.99) and I'm set to go? Is it still quite a detailed sim, as in it takes a while to even switch the engines on?
  25. sounds great and like it'll do me nicely til A10 is a little better optimised/I stop being lazy and actually upgrade my rig :-) Where can I buy it platinum? Is it a digital purchase? Thanks :)
