  1. Cheers Lucky, problem solved! I reset my PC, turned heatblur off and it worked fine again! Weird...
  2. Textures high, the setting below that medium. AI Traffic on, shadows on the lowest setting. HEat Blur on. Maybe I should turn down textures...I'll give it a go!
  3. Thanks a lot :) Specs are q6600 @ 2.4ghz, 4gb ddr2 ram and a gtx260! Res is 1900-1600
  4. Hey guys, Hope you can help! I went online on DCS: BS for the first time, but cant work out how to change graphics/control settings! Client only lets me choose net speed and name. Also, the internet games give me a very low FPS, whereas on single player its always high! Can you think of any reasons? Hope you guys can help, Cheers
  5. Hey all, If I've spotted a group of infantry, and want to take them out with a rocket run, what's the best way to line up to do it? I've been putting FD mode on, setting the AP to fly toward last trim location and doing it that way - is that correct? Cheers
  6. Sorry to bump this one up guys but is there a way to report enemies to convoys in missions? at the moment I find them, and have to sit in silence!
  7. That's amazing, and that is even the mission I am actuallyy having issues with! Cheers :D
  8. Nope! I order to keep it as realistic as possible ED focus specifically on one type of aircraft at the time. That said it's no bad thing, it'll take you months to learn everything!
  9. Thank you all. That's a shame, hope he is okay!
  10. Hey, little bit drunk as about to head out but will attempt an answer... I think the 240 is showing your cannon rounds, switch master arm on then press either U,I,O to select a hard point. This will allow you to see some more information regarding the weapons status. remember, fire cannon and release weapons are different, in order to fire any rockets or valkys you want the release weapons button. So to recap.. Master arm on Switch on the ranging laser (its on the left of you) press U I and O until you get the weapon you want (Valkyrs are the outer hard point) Weapon is ready and HUD display will change! (If the cannon is activated, it will override ay other selected weapon, but it's off by default) Apologies if I have made a mistake but this should work!
  11. Just answered my first question, noticed the colout difference between essential and non essential checks!
  12. Hey guys, I am slowllly getting to grips with the manual startup, probably learnt about half of it as I think it goes some way toward a deeper understanding of how the machine works...Thing is, I've been following the 1 hour leading edge tutorial. In combat, would all these tests actually be performed? For example, checking EGT over and over, full tests of the EEG systems and the fire suppression systems etc etc? If the choppper had to be scrambled quickly for example, would I just get the machine moving asap and perform the checks whilst auto pilot takes me where I need to go? When I get to a combat zone I find acquiring targets whilst at close range very very difficult, is the very nature of this chopper to acquire at range, and ALWAYS have control over the situation? For example, always keeping range, always being in cover? I am never meant to go in movie style thumbling over controls as I attempt to pull of 180 spins whilst blowing infantry apart with rockets? (kind've tongue in cheek, I know that's not how it's done, but do I always want to be at a calm, collected and preferably out of view range?) Finally, if in combat and I do find myself in close range with a tank/infantry (do infantry have manpads in this?) at a distance of say, 0.4km, do I A: turn around and engage whilst desperately trying to use the HMS with a hat stick, or perform the 'run away at 90o to threat' evasion style moves? Sorry for the long post, I like to get it all into one so I don't spam the forums! Thanks again guys :) Conure
  13. Hey all, I've now used 2 of these videos to learn a bit more about the BS, and was wondering if anybody knows if the other lessons can be bought? I ask because I can't find much info on the website! Thanks
  14. Cheers guys! I've applied, so am waiting on activation of my account. Currently learning the startup procedure for the shark...It's going to take a while before I can do it without a notepad!
  15. Hey guys, I've played quite a lot on my own now and wanted to play with someone online, maybe with some simple campaigns with voice comms - I don't really want to jump into an online server as I'd have no clue what to do, but just flying with a few of you guys would be great! I'm from the UK but can stay up late enough to play with some of you guys from the USA if possible.. I put it here as it's not strictly multiplayer based, just looking for somebody thats up for flying with a noob for a while, not competitively or anything! Thanks :) Conure
  16. wings of prey is great - half way between arcade and sim, quite a lot of fun and very easy to get into!
  17. What info does it give you???
  18. So many acronyms:megalol:....I've got absolutely no idea what you guys are on about!
  19. So I just spent a good 5 minutes trying to work out why my shark was behaving strangely..I tried to land and it just wouldn't do it, so I get some altitude and start trouble shooting... Are the autopilot stabilisers on? Yep... Engines running normally? Yup Trim set? Yep... Maybe my joystick is screwed? It is a logitech after all... Then I think to change to outside view..Absolutely no prizes for working out why it was acting strangely! That was my first encounter with damage that didn't either make my heli shake like crazy until I hit the floor (what is that anyway?) or outright obliterate me in mid air! Excellent :D
  20. Thank you!! That is great, I can finally do pop up attacks!
  21. That works really well, great. It's funny, the trim as a concept is so simple, but takes ages to get any good at!
  22. Hi all, So, for weeks I've been wondering why when I engage auto hover, en route auto pilot etc etc my chopper goes a bit crazy and refuses to stay still, which understandably makes targeting very difficult. If you, like me, find that despite your trimming and frustrating attempts at making it sit still dont work, try these steps which will hopefully make the helicopter more manageable. Step one: Before you try to enter a hover, press CTRL + ENTER, you will see your current trimmed inputs, center all of these so that they are in the middle (excluding of course, throttle/collective!) Step two: Bring the helicopter under control, it will be easier to bring to a standstill now that you've recentred the trim (but bear in mind you will need to keep control of the stick), you should find the ka50 not resisting you as much, and it should also settle into an easy hover. Step three: Initiate auto hover; you should now have a spinning/accelerating/crashing free ka-50 ready to practice whatever it is you're doing! I realise this stuff is extremely simple to most of you, but I've entirely overlooked it as the reason for my heli moving all over the place, I wrongly presumed that the auto hover would compensate for my trim settings, and centring (in fact I believe there is a button to simply reset trim?) has made my flying significant easier. Simply resetting the trim has also made landing/rocket runs much easier! If there is somebody here new enough to not know this stuff, I hope it helps! Conure
  23. Alright, thanks :-) The 'lot of work to do' means I have lots of time to build a new comp, at least...
  24. As topic! Can't find much info, hoping it'll be similar to BS as I get some slowdown on that when I use the Shkval! Cheers
  25. Thanks for the clarification! If the ABRIS and pvi-800 are entirely independent then why do the target boxes flash on the ABRIS yet the PVI locks onto them? Are the DL and PVI-800 connected, and the ABRIS just gives a visual display (albeit not in anyway linked)?
