I completely agree - I very much hope a number of addon developers start producing extremely detailed high quality scenery soon, though I guess first of all there would need to be a lower quality "global mesh" in order for it it to be seamless rather than "map based". then again I might be making that up, because I know absolutely nothing about software development!

Hey guys, Sorry to ask such a simple question, but I have tried to update DCS World but it doesn't do anything. Is the current client ( 1.2.2.7570) the most up to date version?
-
Maybe but then, would that apply? I mean wouldn't servers just center around a specific area? I mean, for the Shark the scenery we have now is pretty huge but it's not really an issue!
-
Sorry for multi post - I completely forgot a great bit of software so bumping in case anybody wants... FS2Crew for the PMDG 737NGX Here is an example of this extremely immersing piece of software...
-
Ahh I see thank you - I was reading it as m divided by s lol.

Hey guys, Sorry for the question which may well be answered elsewhere (I'm on a smartphone and searching is a nightmare with a poor connection)...But now that DCS is "kind of" (I say kind of because I am not sure of the correct terminology) open development, is this for aircraft only or will it allow developers to add terrain? I ask because I read an interesting statement from PMDG (who spoke very favorably of DCS) Tabs, on 29 September 2012 - 05:48 PM, said: If DCS actually modeled the whole earth ala what FSX has I'm certain we'd look into it - several of us here play DCS A-10C and Black Shark 2 and I for one would absolutely love to have that kind of graphics and simulation engine for us to work with... My guess is that this will not be happening any time soon though considering it's been the one small map for years, still no release of the Las Vegas/Nellis area etc. Doing the whole world's scenery would take forever at the current rate there. For me, performing heavy ops in the world of DCS would be like dying and going to heaven.

I'm a bit of a maths noob - what does the s variable represent in that expression?
-
Hey guys, Almost everything is gone now and if I didn't reply to a PM I am sorry - I have had a fair few! All that is left to find a new home is... Mega Airport Heathrow (amazing scenery, FPS heavy though) and MyTraffic 2010 which adds traffic for the whole world. It will completely fill up all your airports with realistic liveries and is very easy on the fps.
-
Hey all, Only two things are gone - the NGX and the Carenado. The rest is still available to just PM me!
-
Asrasyuk please let me know if you got the PM - multiple PM's I've sent haven't actually reached the people!
-
Asrasyuk - I am very happy to give this stuff away individually to people so if you'd like the NGX it's yours. PM me with your email address and I'll send it over to you. (edit, just saw your home made pit - absolutely happy to give you the ngx as you're obviously a serious simmer!) Rusty - not sure, border of England maybe? George that is true, the thing is I've always had tighter bonds with the DCS community so thought I'd offer here first :) All other addons are waiting for a new home!
-
Cheers :) To anyone interested - you are more than welcome to just send me a PM. Also, I would prefer it if you had a decent post count here to show a genuine interest in aviation (or at least a decent postcount on another aviation forum from which you can PM me!) I have just paid to reacctivate the downloads on the NGX (as it is restricted to 7 days only) so you would need to download it within the week and keep a permanent backup.

Most of this has gone now - if I haven't replied to a PM I am really sorry, it's because I have received a lot of them and have worked through them on first come first serve basis (provided the people asking had a decent post count etc!) Hey all, I've come to a point in my life where I am able to spend a fair bit of time actually flying, and when I'm not doing that I'm either spending time with family or working. I am going to keep DCS because it offers something I can't get from the real world - a combat environment... I have taken a lot from this community over the years so thought I'd give something back to somebody. I know I won't really be able to tell - but I want to give this stuff to somebody that is truly passionate about aviation but maybe can't afford to pour money into a complex set of addons like the ones I am giving away. They will be missed but life has other priorities and with all the real flying I am able to do I won't be needing them. What I am giving away is the following... [[[[[EZDoc realistic camera Ultimate Terrain X Europe - These are gone Ground Environment X Europe]]]]]]]]] ---------------------------MyTraffic 2010 --FS2CREW FOR THE NGX - Still available, forgot to post this! ---------------------------Megaairport Heathrow Real Environment Essentials Plus - now gone OrbX England- now gone Carenado Skymaster - gone And my favourite.... The PMDG NGX 737 including the 600/700 variants. - now gone All you would need to do is buy the original FSX package (which is damn cheap online) and you'll have a fully featured highly complex and realistic simulator. It probably sounds strange to give it away given that it's an expensive amount of software, but the truth is I'd like it to hopefully inspire somebody who maybe can't afford to fly in real life, and can't afford or justify the costs of the addons because of family/education/age etc. Also, I think the flight simulator community is close knit so I'd feel like I was giving it away to somebody who had something in common with me. Basically, I will notify the publishers (mostly purchased from Flight1) of the change of ownership so that it can all be attached to a new email, and I'll PM you the keys required. Please don't "apply" if you're well off and just want freebies :) Cheers

I know and have used X-Plane 10, I'm well aware of its so called capabilities. I don't consider its running on a mac as a major advantage really, any more than I would knock any other game/sim for not spending its resources on a system which isn't build for gaming. Anybody serious about sims will be running a 64bit Windows 7 PC IMO. Regarding the choice of aircraft available in X-Plane - If you are using Carenado are as an example of 'high quality aircraft' then that just further demonstrates what a joke X-Plane is for hardcore sim fans - Carenado have more in common with Microsoft Flight than they do with DCS, PMDG and FSLabs level simulators. I am sure you're happy with X-Plane 10, and maybe (though not likely given how popular P3D is becoming) one day it'll be the big player. But as of right now, you can't seriously suggest to somebody that wants a real simulator with a plethora of high quality addons buys it over FSX.
-
I don't want to break the forum rules, because as you can all see I am pretty close to a ban!! (just realised you can't actually see my warning level..) For any civilian sim queries I would suggest anybody wanting advice goes over to www.avsim.com, and contacts me there. My name is Luke Bennett on those forums. Provided you have okay hardware (obviously there are real world limitations on how smooth you can get fsx), I am more than happy to help any/all of you to get FSX running well.
-
That's just wrong - FSX/P3D (which is and will continue to be in active development by Lockheed Martin) has the following upcoming addons... PMDG Boeing 777, Flight Sim Labs A320. If you can name an X-Plane aircraft that even comes close to the fidelity seen in these products (if we use Concorde X and NGX as a benchmark) then sure, but the truth is they're not willing to consider it because FSX/P3D are just better platforms.
-
Hi, Do you have a decent PC? If so I am more than happy to help your set up FSX to perform well. It takes about 10 mins and adds huge fps.
-
Hi mate, If you're looking for an easy photoreal solution to England for FSX you can't go wrong with this - http://fullterrain.com/product_eueng.html. FSX is the place to be at the moment. The hardware now supports its potential (albeit skewed potential based on raw power rather than multicore) - but more importantly, with stuff like Rex Essentials Plus and PMDGs offerings, for anybody serious about civilian flight, unfortunately, there is not really any alternative...
-
Um, I did deal with it? I updated. FPS has gone up loads, cheers for the really poor advice though :megalol: Good to see you MTF :)
-
Hey, GTX 660ti underpowered?! I used to run it prior to World at more fps than this with a GTX 460 SE, so I think it's probably that I didn't update. Cheers
-
Whatever you did.. while I looked away a while.. It were great!
Conure replied to Pigmachine's topic in Game Performance
Yeah I spoke too soon anyway! BS2 performance is absolutely screwed for me lol. To be honest though, SSD is worth it alone for the windows experience. Everything is instant. -
Hey all, Been away a while but reinstalled BS2 and A10 within DCS:W. At the start of some missions (e.g in BS2 the one where you assault a village, one of the stand alone missions) I get about 25fps which dips to 20fps with the TV Camera on. Is this normal for my system? Settings are 1920-1200, water low, heat blur off, scenes medium, 2xAA... Seems a bit low but maybe this is to be expected?

How would would it take to fly all the way across the nevada map we'll be getting in the A10? Anyone know?
