Did you install the drivers and software from the disc or from Saitek's website. I would suggest using the website if you haven't http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php the drop down menus there should give you what you need.

That's interesting. The first time I disabled HT, I had to re-install windows due to some system file being corrupted. This was when my build was only 1 day old. I attributed it to something I'd installed...maybe some corrupt driver or something.

Why not set up an account with his details, but with you knowing the password, and with your details as the billing address? Basically arrange it so that he has the serial number, but it's paid for with your credit card?

Well mine's been fine for about 9 months, but it doesn't get very heavy use, and I did have to send two back to the shop when they were DOA

I do realise that, but I wanted to get it all sorted, as much as I could whilst I had some time off work. I understand the logic of waiting, and that logic seems sound to me. However, it's too late now, and although my new build could very soon be bettered, I'm sure it'll give me a good few years of very good gaming performance. Hopefully I can keep the mindset of enjoying what I have, rather than envying what others have.

It was really only FSX, ED sims and potentially Rise of Flight if I get it that would've potentially been on the SSD. ArmA 2 for me will be on the HDD, as I bought it through Steam.

So as it looks like I'll finally be putting my first new build together tomorrow, what is the general consensus regarding SSD's? As I only have 60GB, I need to make a decision. I can keep it for sims and HDD heavy games, or use it for Windows, and put a few sims in the remaining space. What would folks recommend? Also, would changing the HDD/SSD I have ED sims stored on use activations/deactivations, or can I change their installed position within the same PC?

Your childhood sounds similar to mine. Except I used to get my spectrum games from John Menzies or a small shop in the "Forum" section of the Wester Hailes Shopping Centre.

It does say that it's SLI ready. Hopefully my gf can take reciept of it while I'm at work today. I ordered it on 11 December and it's been in my town's depot (and occasionally on vans) since 22 December.

So I've ordered the Coolermaster 800W Silent Pro Gold Modular PSU which says it has 65A on the +12V1 Rail, whatever that really means, so I guess that should be ok? Other specs I've read (which look a little more accurate as far as I can see say it has a single +12v rail giving up to 98A

Yes you do need the same card. If you had two different cards, you could use the weaker as a PhysX processor, but that's about all as far as I'm aware.

well I went for the normal EVGA GTX 570. Nowhere seemed to have the superclocked version in stock at a price I thought was reasonable in the UK. I hope it arrives before new year, but deliveries here are still quite messed up, so I'm not holding out any hope. Bought a prolimatech megahalems with two Akasa Apaches whilst I was there, as i got money for cooling as a Christmas present.

I love steam's winter sales. Great way to pick up a few enjoyable titles without spending too much. I'll admit I picked up Wings of Prey. I've heard mixed things about it from sim communities, but I don't mind the odd arcade flight. That all just depends on my mood. Sometimes I want to think, and sometimes I just want to mess about and blow stuff up.

Is there a huge difference between different makes of GPU's? ie is EVGA much better than ASUS/Gigabyte/Palit etc. Are there good reasons to go with one over another?

Well, Atomic, I think I'll possibly go for the same GTX 570 as you. Seems to be a good idea. Thanks for your link to the dimensions of the card. My case will take that with room to spare (according to the manual) It's now snowing here again, so it doesn't look like my MB, PSU, monitor and Processor will arrive this year! Might as well add GPU to the big list of stuff I've bought but don't have next week.
