EVGA Superclocked GTX 570...
Rusty_M replied to Atomic978's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well I was thinking of buying a 460...but I got some good deals on other parts and my budget increased. Things like this keep selling the 570 to me. How large is this card, exactly? I always find it hard to find dimensions of graphics cards online, and I hope it'll fit my case. -
Best place to get Trackir-in the uk
Rusty_M replied to Engage's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I got mine from flightstore.co.uk They had a sale on at the time, and were the cheapest I could find. -
That's what happened with me and FC 2. It's also the reason I haven't purchased A10...yet! Shame the courier companies in the UK have decided to suspend deliveries to Scotland. No idea when all my new stuff will arrive. There's a small portion of PC in my flat, and about £800 worth of stuff somewhere in between retailers and my flat...how annoying.

And only 20 squid in the You Kay:D

I doubt it, but better to be late and finished than early and incomplete. In any case, you could argue that it has been released in a state that ED acknowledge as incomplete. After all, isn't that what a public Beta is in some respects?

I will be getting this. (admittedly on x-bawcks) I love the craziness of this game. Great to kick back with.

WARNING - TM WH Modders
Rusty_M replied to Flamin_Squirrel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I hope third time is the charm Cali. Same thing happened with my X52 (I know not exactly cougar or WH). The first two were defective, but the third one is great (and also bought from a different place) -

Hopefully I can fit both DCS titles and FSX on it as well as windows. I might just keep the SSD for ED's sims, and put others on the HDD. -
Ace Combat's great fun. It's no sim for sure, but my tastes are mixed in how I enjoy myself. Sometimes I want spectacle and explosions everywhere, and sometimes I want to use my brain more than my reflexes. I always say that variety is the spice of life.

Edinburgh got a lot. We've had post but I've not had a "while you were out" card! I want my first PC component damnit! /selfish child mode. Edit: Hooray! It arrived whilst I was at work today! First ever PC component. How exciting (for me anyway). I was pleasantly surprised to discover it comes with a 3.5inch drive bay adapter -

I'll admit to getting a bit confused. I'm sure Tom's Hardware said at some point that page files are "Poison" to SSDs. I only bought the SSD because I saw what seemed like a good deal last week on Ebuyer. Thing still hasn't arrived yet, bloody snow-incapable-country. I don't know when, or if, I'll be able to replace it, so I'd quite like it to last reasonably well. -

Is it possible to have W7 on the SSD, everything else, including the page file on a hard disc, then later upgrade the HDD to a Raid0 setup to maximise performance? -
I started in F14 Fleet Defender, but that was years ago. I still enjoy Ace Combat, but can't stand Hawx. I'm just getting into these more serious flight sims that ED and some others produce. I don't like Ace Combat less than I did, but I'm loving the complexity of the black shark. Learning these things is a long and enjoyable road.

spray it with some sort of matt paint.

Good actor, great comedian. He will be missed. I don't think I've seen anyone play a funny character so straight! RIP Leslie

Which is why I'm building a system late December, even when SandyBridge is round the corner. Sucks doesn't it? -
Poor mans FERMI: NVIDIA 460GTX

Planning on getting an Antec 300. I imagine it'll be a tight squeeze, but can't be sure. Never built before. -

Fair enough. Will take the advice. Was just curious as to what people would recommend, with that particular model currently enjoying a price cut. Here's hoping for more late next month. -

Rusty_M replied to Pilotasso's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'd like some advice on this card. I can get the Gigabyte Super OC GTX 460 1GB for £154 on eBuyer. that strikes me as a really good price. However, should I buy this now, or wait until about 27 December when I plan to really go for my newbuild? -
1 month with SSD(Solid State Drive) - Great.
Rusty_M replied to 815TooCooL's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
so I suppose it's worth thinking carefully about what else is installed on the SSD if space is limited? -

Thanks Pilotasso. I'll probably just use it for W7 and nothing else so as not to cram it full. Will be accompanied by at least a single 1 tb HDD -

well i just ordered a 60 gb ocz SSD today in a moment of madness. Hope it's as good as you guys say. Ill be back in this thread once i have the rest of the components and I'm struggling to get it all right. -
How do you think about this Hardware?
Rusty_M replied to Pegaso69's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
With a 1366 motherboard, it might be worth looking at 6Gb RAM, assuming you'll be using a 64 bit OS. If you install RAM in multiples of 3 on the Rampage III, you should be able to use it in triple channel mode. Although two identical sticks will still work in dual channel. -
Company of Heroes is very enjoyable. I've also heard a lot of good things about Men of War although I've never played it. It's frequently discounted on Steam and the likes though.

Thanks once again. My knowledge and understanding is slowly improving.
