Ok guys as a medical type, I thought I ought to try and bring some civillian/aid to the civil power missions to the field. Its all very much a work in progess. The skin is pure fantasy, I have a little Air Ambulance time and would be first in the queue if the UK got armed Hueys for our helimed operations . Overview is simple, get called to a Road Traffic Collision, pick up a casualty and evac them to the local Hospital......anyone know where that is in Batumi ? :smilewink:. I will get to polishing the skin and mission over the next few days. Oh and credit to "upuaut" please his skins provided the inspiration for me to have a go....I might of borrowed his crew for now too.

About to lay down SERIOUS money
nickmow replied to Havoc04's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
X36, X45, X52 and X52 pro veteran here :-), I got a Warthog, Stiff is the wrong word it's firmer than the Saiteks but smooth with it, fine inputs are a breeze. Seriously if you got the cash you won't regret it's button rich throttle and great feel. BUY IT ! I know what you mean it's a heavy investment but having had Flightsims for the last 30 years starting with Fighter Pilot on the ZX Spectrum, the Warthog is the biggest and best leap in Stick Technology I've ever seen. In summary "Firm" not "stiff" but smooth and even. Get one ! -
Well you got me Bball, only a short 8 years since I lost my dear old Dad. We both shared an Amateur passion for aviation, My Dad in gliders me with a PPL and both with an all consuming indulgence in RC models. When I joined the Army in 84, one if the first things I bought was a Spectrum computer and "Fighter Pilot". Dad and I spent many a happy hour cooing over how real it was ! He followed my flight sim progression until I finally got him setup at home with FS98 and Manys the phone call spent talking him through stuff. If only online flying had been as accessible as it is today ! Nowadays and in the process of restoring a 44 Willys jeep so many times I've just wanted to ring Dad and ask him how am I going to weld this or tap that or can he turn me up a gizmo. ( he was an engineer and turner by trade). He sent me a book "First Light" about RAF pilots in the war, I should of called him to say thanks, Dad passed the next day, while out on the hills flying one of his model slope soarers, no finer place to be. So thanks for sharing Bball, thanks for the tear in my eye and thanks for reminding us about those remarkable men from a previous generation, who guided us toward manhood and engrained us with our passions for things that move fly and fight. Respectfully Nick P.S. my Dad was a great one for tall tales. He served his National Service in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineer in Germany in the 50's. Two years fixing tanks and chasing Frauleins. However referring to a Photo of a Sherman Tank in a comic I had when I was about 11, he told me while puffing on his pipe "Oh yes I remember that being taken, it's me and my mate Johnny Jones, capturing Berlin, we were the first ones there !" Course I believed it, every word, until a Homework project demanded researching the years your parents where born......ie, 1935 for dad ....... "Dad..... Er you said you and Johnny captured Berlin?" "Yep". More pipe smoke "But you were only Ten !" Long draw on the pipe, "we'll, we lied about our age at the recruiting office ". "Oh OK". Understand that this was relayed in good faith to my classmates and my teacher Mr Anderson. Still got me smiling Dad :-)

Or use Challenger  Or also accept that the Mighty M1 is not indestructible and tactics play a substantial role. Problem with CA is the terrain is pretty flat locally

Is it feasible? (The Z word!)

This is surely not the place to discuss this ? -
Good effort, keep it up and prove us all to be grumpy old doubters

Because he's "12". Or claims to be so there is an obligation to advise, If your old enough or have been granted parental permission to access a global forum for arguably some pretty hardcore flight sim enthusiasts, then your old enough to take the praise or Flak for your statements. Learning to accept guidance from your elders is a tremendously important part of "growing up" As is the realisation that when you make a claim to the world you either back it up with hard produce or gracefully announce your falling short of the mark. Also learning about "Integrity" or how casting miss-truths will leave you with a reputation with more holes in it than an AWACS doing a low pass over Red HQ. Bottom line, Put up or shut up !
-
No of course your right, but maybe "12" year old Spencer needs to realise he's talking to grown ups here . I use the term Grown ups in the loosest possible terms of course :music_whistling:
-
Edited, to avoid hypocracy. ;)
-
Oh boy, Just dont "wipe your hard drive" again. Also I wonder if this mod is ahead behind or concurent with the Hunter, Victor, Vulcan and what ever else your publishing ? Oh yep possibly a Jaguar, what a busy boy. Cant say I didn't try  Mate publish an actual working Mod that you have produced and I will be happy to eat my words and go fly it. Now that is a fair statment is it not !

A question for TM HOTAS Warthog owners
nickmow replied to bojangles_25's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yep, your in For a treat. I've been flying flight sims since Fighter Pilot on the Spectrum in 1984 ! With a two button analogue joystick. Had every kind of Joystick since, last 3 where the Saitek X45, X52 and X52pro. All good sticks and With a set of Saitek Pro Pedals too they really served me well. I rather cheekily asked the GF for a Warthog for Christmas and Holy Cow ! She only got me one !. It is a quality bit of kit. Perfect for the A10 and just as good for any other joystick related action. The feel of it and the ability to make small instinctive corrections is excellent. That and all the lovely buttons and switches. I've used it with FSX too, and Falcon BMS. So far I am a very very happy WH owner. -
Yeah no worries Rongor, I was just joking with ya. Just expanding the original question. I figured people would know that the A10A is from FC3.
-
Further tried the same mission with A. Single A10A and JTAC (AI) no diamond B. Pair of A10A and JTAC (AI) Diamond appears C. Pair of A10A and no JTAC still get a Diamond and it only comes up once the wingman calls a contact so its Wingie related....shame :(. Oh well back to talking on my A10A driving mate and smoking targets for him. DCS any plans ???
-
Well I figured that as the A10A dosnt have a TGP. It does however have the Pave tracker on the nose. So what generates or determines which target is auto tracked ? It only seems to be there with JTAC (AI) on the deck, though I need to experiment more to find out when it will or won't be there. Forgive us Oh Mighty Rongor for talking of such lowly things  but I think we are all over the difference between the C and the A, just trying to figure out what works, not everyone has the C and it would be cool to be able to FAC in the A drivers. A does demonstrate a "Spot". Controlling where that indication lies would be useful. For example a C pilot could AFAC for online FC3 pilots. Yes it's very clear that JTAC can do what you say, which is pretty much what I showed and what Shagrat had asked about ?
-
Well point of experiment was to see if an LGB would pick up and guide onto the JTAC Laser. I used CCIP to get the bomb to drop in an approximate area, rather than a fully accurate CCRP drop. What's the point ? Well I guess if you had to quickly setup an attack or your TGP was bust. I tried the A10A apart from the lack of guided weapons in the loadout, I had some missions where a diamond appear in the HUD which seemed to be a laser track from a JTAC. I think this only works if the JTAC is AI or if you have a wingman ? A10A did not indicate the multiplayer JTACs laser mark.
-
ROFL !
-
Ok set up a small scenario with a JTAC and some statics on the dissused airfield. Marked with smoke for a reference and did not use LSS on the A10. Lased the target once visually aquired and dropped using CCIP and I deliberatly did not aim too accuratly. Pictures in sequence show Jtac position, Smoke Marker on the target, A10 searching visually and seeing the mark on the deck, Attack using CCIP and the Bomb (LGB12) tracking onto target. Direct Hit, I watched the LGB flying and it for sure gained the laser and aquired the target rather than just hitting the CCIP mark . Im lucky enough to have a LAN at Home, my main PC has all the DCS titles, The second one just has DCS World and CA, so a certain amount of autopilot and jumping seats has to happen. Until I train the girlfriend to be a JTAC !
-
Ill try the CCIP mode today using a smoke marker reference.
-
Yes you can Shagrat, JTAC can lase and guide an LGB from an A10C, I tried it today on LAN at home. Not tried with A10A though yet. Though didn't use smoke marker, seemed a bit redundant with a laser to mark the target for the A10 ?
-
Yeah LSS is your friend, get JTAC to talk you on or send you a grid...we talking online right ? Get the TGP pointing in roughly the right direction and hit LSS top right of the right hand MFD and it should pick up the lase and then you can rain down righteous destruction !
-
Absolutely, just trying to be a little gentle on the young fella

Well red1 I salute your efforts, but I think you could better expend your energy in another direction. While your skill at producing this 3D model is commendable , do,you have a plan/timetable/development pathway to back it up,with ? I think it's important to realise that with the DCS series is populated with some casual, gamers but mostly folk who like their experience pretty much at the quality end (not all Ill grant you). Maybe your on a pathway to becoming a great Flight Sim developer or producer. Therefore some advice, if you don't mind. Be realistic, Don't announce with great gusto that your project "will". Be this that or the other and then not make the grade, you will be slated for that. Listen to advice, there a lot to be had from some immensely experienced simmers here, many who have been pulling on their virtual Joysticks :music_whistling: longer than you have been breathing. Don't rise to rudeness or negative comments, it's the interweb, shit happens. Venture Adventure NM

I like it all Wags, not one to complain. There is plenty to be going on with. Precious few game developers/producers interact so freely with "us" customers and Im guessing most guys who have a gripe will not be shy of airing it. While the contented majority just get wheels up Fly, lase, bomb, crash and generally have hours of SP fun just playing with the massive capability of the World. CA and online with a mate Im reliving my days as an FAC and having a ball. Yeah updates, after all we all like to tinker with the setup. Merry Christmas and thanks for such a broad spectrum challenging and most of all fun product, keep up the good work and Merry Christmas to you all. Now I think a Warthog might of turned up for Christmas. I got to go fly jets :music_whistling:
