DCS Northern Europe by Starway
ratherbegliding replied to Starway's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Hey no worries. To me it looked like a 70's or 80's paint job which got me interested/nostalgic....... All I need now is some historical repaints for the hawk :D Cheers! RBG -
DCS Northern Europe by Starway

Hey Crazyeddie, I like that RAF C-130 skin - I haven't noticed that before. It's not stock DCS is it? If not, where can I get it please? Cheers! RBG -
Never mind. Followed the steps in post 2 here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=141699 Checked the licence key status on the DCS website afterwards and it confirms deactivation. I was hoping to achieve the same thing by simply logging into the DCS website. Bit of a clumsy way to do things, but hey, it worked for me so all good here. :) RBG

Hi there, Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, but how (in the new DCS website) can I de-activate my licence keys? I am about to rebuild my PC so the hardware is going to change. Can de-activation only be done from within DCS itself? Thanks, RBG

G'day! +1 for the T-6 suggestion. Whatever the airframe though, it NEEDS to have EFM/PFM and ASM - none of the half-baked, glorified MOD approach mentioned somewhere above. Another reason for doing something like this is that I could buy my way onto a flight in, say, a T-6 - but before doing it for real I'd want to learn the cockpit layout, start up procedures, systems etc etc.... That's why I'll be buying DCS Albatross when it comes out :D RBG

Feedback and General Questions for Video Updates
ratherbegliding replied to Groove's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Many thanks to Matt and ED for the stream. Found it very enjoyable despite the odd hiccup. Looking forward to more! RBG Request: A bit about new clouds and weather effects please :) -
Hi there, How can I re-size the map? It won't open on my home PC (which has 6gb of ram) I just get a message saying something like 'out of memory'?? So I've downloaded it at work on an i-5 laptop which struggles but eventually opens it..... However when i try to re-size it spits the dummy and only saves a blank jpeg. Could someone better at this than me maybe produce a lo-res version please? Thanks! RBG

Greetings, This was written by Major F 'Boots' Blesse, a Korean War ace with 10 kills to his name. http://www.simhq.com/_air/PDF/NGNG.pdf Especially for all those struggling against Mig-15's! Enjoy! RBG :D Ooops - just seen this elsewhere in this forum - moderators feel free to delete! Other post should be a sticky though.

Quick update Under SET OPTION I couldn't find GROUP AI OFF so I changed all the fuel quantities to zero which seems to have had the desired effect. So I now have the 4 Hawks in various liveries parked next to me on the ramp, a static C-130 and an AI C-130 which starts up and takes off when the mission starts - adds a little atmosphere! Small steps..... Thanks again for the help chaps. RBG :joystick:

Woo Hoo!! I'm not an idiot! I was getting worried there for a bit. Thank you so much for taking the time to troubleshoot. I will try what you suggested, I seem to be spending more time messing around with the Mission Editor these days than flying the simulator LOL! Gradually getting through Ranger's video tutorials too. Aaah well, helps pass the time whilst I wait for DCSW 2.0 ........ ;) RBG

Hey feefifofum. When you open it you'll see a few other plane/heli groups - these work fine. With the static objects I even tried placing a structure, a cafe, but still no joy. RBG Test1.miz

Ok, so I now have a player controlled aircraft sitting in a parking area, cold pit. I thought I'd add some other parked aircraft as static objects to provide a bit of atmosphere (my Hawk looks kinda lonely!) So I've added three other Hawks as static objects (not plane groups) but they don't appear when I fly the mission?? There aren't that many options when creating static objects so I'm surprised I managed to screw this up! I've managed to add a C-130 as a plane group and watched it take off (woo hoo!) but, still no static objects. Can you not add static objects to a parking ramp/airbase? Sorry for the noob questions - I must be lowering bar by now..... RBG

Thanks for the help guys. This is what I needed: "All aircraft when you add them start off as AI, but you can change them to player control by setting the skill option to "player"." Would never have guessed in a million years! LOL! Looking forward to going through the various resources suggested....roll on the weekend. Happy flying! RBG :pilotfly:

Hi guys, I've played DCS for a while, mostly just learning systems and free flight. I recently bought the excellent VEAO Hawk and wanted to make some simple training missions/scenarios. Now I've read the DCS World manual and clicked on every button in the Mission Editor but for the life of me I can't figure out how to add the player-controlled aircraft?! Please can someone help me get the ball rolling. Also, any recommendations re online articles, or other ME guides would be most helpful. Many thanks, RBG

Hey, I can't comment on what it's like to fly a jet but why do RL fighter pilot's NOT play pc sims? I was a RL glider pilot but stopped when I had kids. A few years ago I loaded up FSX with add on scenery for a place I actually flew at with a payware glider very similar to my old bird. The sounds in the cockpit were great. I had TrackIR so it was reasonably immersive. BUT . . . . . . it was like I was only getting maybe 20% of the real experience. :( After about an hour I stopped playing. I imagine it's the same for RL fighter pilots. RBG

DCS A-10C damage model screenshots
ratherbegliding replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Looks fantastic!!! One thing I would also like to see is proper smoke clouds - reaching up several thousand feet for big fires (oil refineries, factories etc) and taking the appropriate time to dissipate. This is shaping up to be a classic sim!! Keep up the good work ED! -
