P-51 Weapon related Shortcuts are gone!
ratherbegliding replied to Blooddawn1942's topic in Bugs and Problems
I'm having a similar issue. When I look at the above screen there are no keyboard or joystick button assignments (it's blank) and what's more, I can't make any changes???? I can quite happily change non-weapon assignments eg flaps. I haven't had a chance to look at the lua file yet. RBG -
Nice gesture StormBat! I already have the A-10C so don't include me in the draw - just wanted to say thanks on behalf of the community.

Greetings all, I stumbled across this yesterday: Part 1 http://aviationweek.com/site-files/aviationweek.com/files/uploads/2015/01/1990-%20Su-27%20Pilot%20Report%20%281%20of%202%29.pdf Part 2 http://aviationweek.com/site-files/aviationweek.com/files/uploads/2015/01/1990-%20Su-27%20Pilot%20Report%20%282%20of%202%29.pdf Interesting read. This page contains links to an article about the Mig-29 too: http://aviationweek.com/blog/pilot-reports-mikoyan-mig-29-and-sukhoi-su-27-1990 Cheers, RBG

I personally would love a Harvard. From a business perspective though it would probably make sense to ensure it could be flown two-up to maximise it's appeal. I 'taught myself' how to fly the TF-51, so it is possible to survive without dedicated trainers, but I would argue that the majority of people would buy it because of it's history and for it's accurate flight/systems modelling (which you don't quite get with FSX). Given your access to the real thing and it's pilots Pman, I would love to see what you can do in DCS!!! RBG

Hi guys, Let me start by saying that I am by no means an expert but have read a bit about flying fast jets and my understanding is that the turn and slip indicator (the ball) barely moves during a turn. Fast jet pilots do not use rudders to make co-ordinated turns in the same way light aircraft or glider pilots do. In a fast jet the rudder is only used during a crosswind landing situation where the low approach speed gives it maximum effect. The rudders on fast jets have very little authority compared to light aircraft and gliders. In FBW aircraft pilots only ever use the rudder for crosswind landings and taxiing. The effectiveness of the rudder is also a function of the size of the control surface, so the rudders on an A-10 will be much more effective than on an L39. All that said, reading through the other posts in this thread it seems the ball on the L39 isn't quite behaving the way it should. :smartass: RBG

How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
ratherbegliding replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi kingpinda! Thanks for the reply. I have no idea why there were no ()'s or _'s - that was the format in the original mod file. I decided to dump this. So I had a look in the original joystick default.lua file and saw the section you modified. So I then just took a copy of the original default.lua, inserted your two new lines and saved the file. But still no joy........ Other than inserting your two new lines, is there anything else I should be doing? I'm using JSGME to apply the mod. Alternatively, please could you post your modified lua file and I'll just swap the whole thing? Forgive me, this is my first ever attempt at playing with lua script. Thanks for your help :smilewink: RBG -
How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
ratherbegliding replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi guys, I'm using POLARIS1's JSGME file in post48/page 5 of this thread for the TF-51 in order to map the mixture control functions of Idle Cut Off/Run/Emergency Full Rich to the LASTE 3 position switch on my Warthog throttle - Path/'Alt/Hdg'/Alt. The mod allows me to switch between the 1st and 3rd positions, but not the middle one. Reading through this post: it almost makes sense to me save for the fact that I can't figure out why when clicking either 1st or 3rd position to 'off' doesn't seem to be sending the command to return to the middle position? The mod lua script seems to be in line with (FSF)Ian's post above, here are the relevant lines: Anyone better at this than me see where the problem is?? Thanking you in anticipation! RBG -
Awesome! Thanks for sharing- makes me want to jump in the A-10C again having been distracted by the 'stand, Sabre and Hawk LOL! RBG

Hi guys, Sniporbob - many thanks, your solution worked for me. I used ifranview (32-bit) to open as you suggested then used it to resize to a slightly lower resolution (file is now 38mb instead of 40mb) and did a 'save as' as a jpeg again. I'm now able to open with Windows Photo Viewer. :) Thanks again RBG

Newbie with a Warthog
ratherbegliding replied to ChuckBytes's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Greetings and welcome to DCS!! I have been playing on and off for a few years now but have only had my TM Warthog for a week. First thing to do is go onto the TM website and install 1. the drivers; and 2. the TARGET software before plugging in your HOTAS. +1 about using the standalone instead of Steam (sorry if anyone feels differently). This forum is full of useful information so make use of the search function - I can spend hours just browsing! If you find the learning curve too steep with the A-10C I can definitely recommend the Hawk if you fancy something a bit easier. Welcome aboard! :D RBG
