  1. Just in case you're not joking, TM released their FLCS and TQS (IIRC, the first F-16 HOTAS) in mid-90s and everybody into flight sims at the time wanted them.
  2. Is that pod like a guidance pod for Kh-23 missiles (i.e. the Delta-R1M mentioned on Kh-23 Wiki page)? Also, didn't MLA primarily use R-60M/MK missiles?
  3. Interesting. Even Gordon's MiG-29 book mentions only 2 ER/ETs.. Which is kind of surprising since there are shots of MiG-29M prototypes flying with four Kh-31s (I guess inert ones, not sure how heavy they are).
  4. I would presume it would not make sense since IIRC the standard MiG-29 (9.12 and 9.13) already had problems with asymmetric load when one of the two R-27 missiles was launched. Putting these heavy missiles even further away down the same wings would only make matters worse, at least without some kind of digital FCS to adapt to these configurations. I would also wager that the wings weren't designed for big loads on these outer pylons as well, especially during A2A manoeuvring. Presuming they could withstand the load, you could launch them in pairs, perhaps, but I have a feeling the pylons were not spaced far enough by design so there's not enough side clearance between the missiles since they are launched from these rails so you'd have to fire the inner pair first which leaves you in a not ideal configuration again. This was of course fixed later on starting with MiG-29M/K (9.15/9.31) with stronger and wider wings which had two extra heavy pylon points plus they were 'wet' wings with a bigger fuel capacity compared to old school bags with fuel as on the initial variants.
  5. I mean, I use Cougar base on some table mounts and don't feel like fiddling with G940 stick there just for having FFB to fly helicopters. If CLS-E gets DX support, I could just replace my Cougar base with it and use it as my standard base for both aircraft and helicopter modules is what I wanted to say (I'd have to buy an adapter for Monstertech mounts for it, naturally). Perhaps it could be posted on Brunner support forums. Hopefully these issues will be ironed out quickly.
  6. Thanks. Nah, I'm just interested in it for flying the helicopters in DCS properly (and I guess WW2 fighters are nice with it). After flying with the trim on the G940, it's hard to go back to flying choppers with a regular base and G940 is too clunky to be used as a primary stick/base. This Brunner CLS-E could be my primary stick base for everything in DCS, now that it supports DX natively, I guess. Just need to start saving.. I presume they don't do discounts ever?
  7. Just to confirm, does this mean it now supports all the FFB effects of the DCS modules (which have FFB support) out of the box like e.g. Logitech G940?
  8. Hmm. Getting it for $24 would have felt like a steal for an F-15E, like, literally. Kind of glad I've missed the chance to be tempted by like 15 minutes.. Now, just need a Tornado to complete the list of my three most played sims on my first PC (MP's F-14 FD and F-15 SE3, DI's Tornado). Fortunately, the DCS gods have granted us some mercy in that regard recently, so here's hoping..
  9. 6 Noctua fans sounds like a huge overkill for a mid-range setup, IMHO. I would rather invest half of that price into a new brand name case which comes with 3 decent fans preinstalled. E.g. I got myself a Lian Li O11 Mini Air for about 110 EUR and it comes with three large fans included. There are plenty of options at that price range with good design, materials, dust filters and decent and quiet fans.
  10. I haven't actually tried it yet, because I moved and the Cougar throttle is in the old place still (I use WinWing throttle currently). Hope to get a chance to try it next time I go back there.
  11. Yeah, I'd presume it's due to the new chiplet design used on RDNA 3 and that the VR software will need updates to support that.
  12. The ECM effects look great, can't wait to try them out. Plus the pilot/RIO bodies. Thanks a lot for the update!
  13. Really? AFAIK, it shouldn't be possible in RL and it shouldn't be possible in DCS (?). Define 'turned cold', though. Flanker's radar has a bit wider gimbal so it could support a missile while it might look that it turned almost 90 degrees off (AKA 'cranking').
  14. Agreed, the F would be more flexible as it could do both low-level and medium-level strikes (with its ability to carry the Pave Tack pod).
  15. Great news! Have fond memories flying DI's Tornado.. Most of it was on autopilot, though, so can't wait to see how it actually flies
  16. These are R-23R/T missiles, right? I thought MiG-23MLA was using R-24R/T missiles?
  17. DCS: 'You're gonna need a bigger SSD'.
  18. Now there's an unexpected surprise. Awesome news.
  19. If you're using the DCS keybinding (like e.g. F-16C Sim) to assign key commands, then you shouldn't run Target beforehand and you'll get separate devices (i.e. TM Warthog Stick, TM Warthog Throttle, TM MFD 1 and TM MFD 2) that you assign respective DCS commands to. If you're using Target, then you assign these in Target (e.g. key 'Y' which is defined in the F-16C Sim profile Keyboard column to some DCS F-16C function, you can assign it to some MFD button directly so when the Target profile is active, a press to that key will type Y whether in DCS or in Windows in general).
  20. I've seen Seasonic Focus GX mentioned specifically as an example of a PSU which will have issues with new Nvidia cards, so I guess something about their design makes them not a great choice for the new GPUs with more powerful transient spikes. Supposedly, it's not only about transient spikes in this case, but also in how Seasonic PSUs in general handle noise sensing on the 12V line where they didn't expect such high noise as generated by Nvidia 30XX series. They tweaked this behavior in later production batches, but if you have a PSU from before the fix (which I guess came some time after 30XX series release), they might shutdown a lot due to this. It happened even on stronger PSU's (e.g. 850W) when the 30XX series came out.
  21. RM650x is a good unit, it can provide almost the entire stated wattage on 12V so no problems there spec wise. But, with increased wattage, the power load transient spikes also increase which might trigger OCP protection on a PSU and trigger a shutdown. I also have a similar problem where I'll try to run a 3080 with a Ryzen 5600X on some older model (but decent/good quality and still brand new) Corsair 550W PSU. I just recently put the system together, so didn't have time to run any demanding games for a longer period of time; it did run DCS for like 10-15 minutes, so I'm slightly optimistic (especially if I undervolt the card somewhat).
  22. What's your PSU exactly? I don't see your signature for some reason. If it's a good quality PSU and not too old, 650W could suffice since the projected TDP for 4080 is 420W. Still, we won't know for sure till closer to launch.
  23. The 12GB has more shaders as well and a wider memory bus, so it gets somewhat better performance (it's roughly somewhere between a 10GB 3080 and a 3080Ti). But, since you've waited this long, it's obviously better to wait a few months more for the 40XX series.
  24. I'm more excited at the chance of finally having a 23 simulated, though I will get the 15E as well (I have too many fond memories of flying it in Strike Eagle III). The WSO is seat is kind of completely superfluous in it (except for GBU-15, IIRC), but that might be a plus for the SP, I guess.
  25. For 5K2K, I'd rather go for a 40", it's an overkill on 34", but there's no gaming monitors in 40" yet, just 60Hz office ones and they're pretty expensive. How about a 37,5" 3840*1600 one instead of 3440*1440 34" one? It's higher and somewhat wider. http://www.displaywars.com/34-inch-21x9-vs-38-inch-21x9 The main advantage of G-Sync is that they usually have a lower start of the supported FPS range (e.g. G-Sync would cover tearing starting from 30 FPS, while FreeSync usually starts from 48 FPS), but with a 3080, that's not really an issue.
