Does anyone have any word on an official skinning template/paint kit for the MIG-29 model?

Low performance in recent patch?
Flogger23m replied to Flogger23m's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Thanks for the reply. I always run in full screen so that isn't the problem. For FC3 aircraft I can get by as I pan my mouse with the joystick, although I am no longer able to smoothly view around via the mouse when I want to. But for clickable cockpits which require the mouse the game is essentially unplayable at the moment. -
A lot of those units already exist in game. Some of them do have dated 3D models but at least some of them (F-4?) are being remade.

Some more quick testing using the frame rate counter. Frame rates report well over 100 in most instances. Panning around with my HOTAS or arrow keys looks normal. The only time I get slow panning performance is when using the mouse. Frame rates seem to drop, but still stay above 80 or so. There seems to be a stuttering problem that is not related to frame rates. It is worse in cockpits, but also occurs when panning in external views. In cockpits it takes around 6 seconds from looking at the HUD to looking down at the seat with the mouse. In game frame rate counter reports 80, but it looks like 10 or so frame rates. Essentially, panning around the cockpit is not feasible if you want to use a mouse. I've tried this in the following three planes: F-15C Su-27 MIG-21 All with the same issues, both cockpit and external. Empty map. I used to have Bartharks (spelling) texture pack installed which ran perfectly fine, although I removed that and I am using the default features & .LAU files. Is anyone else having these issues? I may consider re-installing, but the slow download times, DRM problems and re-configuring of controls will be a pain I don't want to go through yet again. I don't want to do that only to find out it is a general bug effecting most users. I am also on Nvidia's latest official drivers. -
Low performance in recent patch?

As I mentioned in the original post, it happens in a number of aircraft as well as external views to a lower extent. Previously I had a smooth 60+ frame rates in normal conditions. Exceptions being 20+ aircraft at an air field, which seems to bring the engine to its knees. Specs: GTX 970 4670K @ 4GHZ 8GB DDR3 Win 10 Pro Installed on SSD -
Since the last patch (V1.5 non-beta) a few days back I am getting terrible performance in a number of aircraft. I am getting around 10 frame rates in the F-15s cockpit. Lots of stutters. Viewing external views I am also experiencing a lot of stutters when panning around. Is anyone else experiencing these problems?

Edit: There is no bug fix, delete thread mods. No reason for this to exist anymore.

Upgrading Windows, can I leave my DCS install intact?
Flogger23m replied to Flogger23m's topic in DCS 2.9
Thank you! If I have a problem I will post back, but I just wanted to be sure. I know it works for some other games like BF4. I plan on doing the same for it. Between those two games it is 100GB+ to redownload, so just plugging in my SSD is much preferred. :) -
I am going to be upgrading my Win 7 install to Win 10 soon. I will be doing a clean install. DCS is installed on another games only SSD, separate from my boot drive. Once I finish installing Windows 10, can I simply plug in my other SSD and reactivate my modules? Or will a new OS install require a reinstall of DCS? I've moved the install between drives before, but never deactivated/reactivated and then point the game to a new OS. It would save me a lot of time redownloading/installing. As for my config files (HOTAS .lau configs ect.), can I just copy my DCS folder in: C:\Users\Username\Saved Games and paste it in the appropriate directory once Win 10 is installed? Will doing this automatically point the game to my various aircraft profiles?

Does anyone know if Keefyboy's template works with the current MIG-21 3D model? It does not seem like the official LNS template will work with Photoshop CS2 (I know, it is very old) so I can't use that one. Keefyboy's however, does work in CS2. But as I downloaded it a while back and there have been many updates to the MIG-21 I am wondering if making a skin using it is still viable.

Ironically we've had similar threads in the past where the majority disagree with that stance. I think most of the DCS player base doesn't care about new players, especially those with little flight sim experience. Most seem to indicate they will ruin DCS and their personal experience, and that casual players who will only give DCS a try via free content won't stay around and/or are cheapskates. And while a free base game is good, it isn't very free when you have to buy AI units, terrian texture upgrades, weather or other small items as they get upgraded. The whole concept initially was to receive updates while paying for the aircraft modules. But if every little update is going to cost money then we may as well get charged up front. It is less of a hassle both from a developer and customer (managing the DRM for so many upgrades) and we'll all be on the same page. And I'd rather just pay once over paying for micro (or macro?) transactions.

You make it seem as though we should be grateful the map is remaining free. Of course it would have to be upgraded for the new engine. I don't see this as a freebie or ED doing us a favor. If they decided to charge for the currently free map suddenly a lot of people who may have spent hundreds of dollars would be locked out of updates unless they paid for something else. This is especially problematic if they bought one of the many beta modules and were unable to get the complete versions without paying more for other content. It would also go against the whole concept of having the base game free in which you buy aircraft/modules to use in it. Now, new textures only is a bit different. I still don't see it as a worthy for a paid addon though. Unless the terrian is getting an entire face lift to be up to par with NTTR/future maps it isn't worth it. Certainly not for $30-40+. I would also question online compatibility. Would be with the higher res textures be able to play in the same server as those without it? IMO it is getting to a point where it would be better if ED just charged for the base game. No more future modules and no more massive upgrades for the free version, just bug fixes to bring current modules to retail status. Then release a paid version which will support future upgrades and modules but won't be charging for piecemeal items like textures, weather or AI units. Essentially go back to what DCS World used to be like, although use the funds from the base game towards development of the core experience. It seems as if ED is unable to sustain itself from aircraft and campaign modules on its own, and I'd rather just pay a one time fee and get all upgrades at once. That would probably make for a smoother MP experience as well.

Agreed. Just add it in when they can. Ideally it will be the same command as it is in other modules. People that know the plane inside out and have Track IR don't have to use it.

A 3D view for the DCS: World 1.5 Open Beta Mission Editor
Flogger23m replied to FSFIan's topic in Mission Editor
Very nice work. This needs to get added in officially (although with smoother implementation). ArmA 3 finally did this and it is amazing for that game. -
The Block 20 was used by the Republic of China and the ANG, so that is good enough for me. But I'd also consider a Block 15 OCU. If I recall, those had some other upgrades?
-
I'd buy an F-16C at FC3 level if a full study sim isn't an option. I'd even buy A variants that had AIM-7 capability such as the Block 20.

I have recently completed a livery which recreates Rigaux's color scheme. Rigaux was one of the aces of the Federal Erusea Air Force which appeared in Ace Combat 4. Feel free to download it here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1830738/ If anyone notices errors in game do let me know. And thank the AI for flying the plane for the screen shots as I don't own this plane yet! :p Next up is another Mirage 2000 ace scheme from ACZ and I will likely update the Rigaux scheme with French roundels for those that like real country emblems. Thanks for looking!

It is not a J-11, it is an Su-27. A J-11 can carry additional Chinese design missiles (although based on other designs) and probably has a number of other minor differences. But the PLAAF does use some Su-27s, so I suppose it is accurate enough. :)

Will the Mig-29 have soon its own module ?
Flogger23m replied to CHDT's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Buy Flaming Cliffs 3. You will get all of the planes for a bargain, including all MIG-29 variants. And you can play them now (minus PFM & new external model). The F-15 is also very fun to fly even if you only play it for a few hours it is worth it. -
Nice skin Yo-yo. Which paint kit has the updates arrows ect.?

Anyone know what changes might be made to the Mirage 2000s texture that might have to be reworked if using this template? Or did RAZBAM already update the textures and simply not get around to releasing the official template?
