Phantoms Phorever. PRE-ORDER & REVEAL Trailer
The_Chugster replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Just checking, I know the ED and Steam POs come later but will the Steam PO come before the release? I know Steam is the Red Headed Step Child of DCS and gets everything last but its where I buy my modules then transfer to use on Standalone -
Will the manual be available before the module comes out?
The_Chugster replied to The_Chugster's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Aah cool, thanks, but I was talking about the one for the module that is tailored more to the sim than the real aircraft manual....but i will give it a read though -
Phantoms Phorever. PRE-ORDER & REVEAL Trailer
The_Chugster replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Ok so I have been putting off diving fully into DCS, despite buying several modules recently, the sheer complexity of the modules and the dedication needed to actually study the manuals have put me off a little. But, with the Phantom being my all time favourite aircraft, the fact this this is the FIRST proper combat simulation of this aircraft (f15, F16, F18 and A10 have had loads of sims over the last few decades) and the inclusion of the in-cockpit manual and control identifier has actually got me excited and looking forward to diving into this endeavour. I just hope we get access to the manual early so I can study up before the module releases -
Huey or Gazelle for learning to fly a helicopter?
The_Chugster replied to The_Chugster's topic in DCS 2.9
Well i think I will buy both, I do see that most say the Hip is the best to learn on but I have no real connection to that chopper like i do with most of the others in DCS and I do think having a connection or real interest in the module will help you to learn it, -
Huey or Gazelle for learning to fly a helicopter?
The_Chugster replied to The_Chugster's topic in DCS 2.9
The MI-8 cockpit looks way more complex than the Huey/Gazelle, doesnt that make it harder to learn? -
So i bought the Apache in the last sale but realised I have a lot to learn when it comes to flying realistic helicopter sims. And I know I could stick with the Apache but both the Huey and Gazelle are half-price right now so i wondered if it would help to get and learn the basics of heli flight with a simpler helicopter before going back to the Apache I am leaning towards the Gazelle as I am a Brit and it would make sense to learn that before the Apache like the British Army does...or is the Huey better for noobs in training?

Are full fidelity FC3 aircraft even possible?
The_Chugster replied to The_Chugster's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Oh I dont mind keeping asking but I just wanted to know if there was even a point to asking. There is no point asking for something if ED cant do it. Have they ever said anything on the ease of produce thise modules? -
I suppose the info given out was very sudden and not all that clear. Plus, removing choice from the customer, or suddenly forcing them to jump through hoops to make that choice doesnt strike me as good business practice
-
We keep asking for these but I would like to know if it's even feasible? Is it a simple upgrade of existing assets or a 2 year process making each plane from scratch? I would love a full fidelity A-10a to partner the C and the 2 Flankers
-
Just to clarify, I have bought all my modules through steam, linked them to standalone and play only on standalone (I want them on Steam as a back up incase the worse happens to ED). So, if I unbind my steam account will I only be able to play modules bought direct from ED on my standalone or is it just that you cant have access to both Steam and Standalone at the same time? Because if I have to rebuy all the modules again after unbinding then that is not acceptable
-
Or is it just me that wants this?
-
But why is it different using the FC3 modules? They both have flight models and avionics that a mod will use
-
Just wondering if it's possible for ED to do a GoG and sell their old Flanker Sims here on the site? Maybe with some tweaks to ensure they run on moder pcs. Or are there issues with ownership/publishing rights?
-
Just wondering why some mods, like the f22, don't replace modules but others, like the f-16 sufa, do? Why can't we have multiple mods of the f16 or others?

Wing sweep wont set to auto during take off training?
The_Chugster replied to The_Chugster's topic in Bugs and Problems
Cool, ill give that a try, but i dont know why the tutorial didnt mention this -
So im following all instructions, got to just before the runway and the instructor says to set my wing sweep to auto, but nothing happens when i click the button assigned to my hotas and the keyboard command i created to test it. I did notice the manual sweep lever was all the way back but moving that (and closing the cover) didnt help either. Now ive probably missed something but as Im following instructions im not sure what ive missed EDIT: I also had a issue during the cold start tutorial where clicking the right engine crank did nothing...are there issues with the Tomcat training missions?
-
So I have a Warthog with the analog stick mod as was wondering if there was any way to use this to control Jester? As far as I can see you can only assign to an 8-way hat and as the Tomcat doesnt have MFDs in the front this analog stick is going to waste
