  1. A few youtube vids say they are quite good and I was wondering where the fit in, are they TM HOTAS X level, X52/TM1600m or even X56 level? They look like KOs of the VKB Gladiator NXT
  2. Yeah, i am looking at Winwing as well, but I would need to rely on a sale at the time of purchase, plus i would need to know if the Warthog adaptor they sell also works with Virpil grips
  3. Just wondering if the VFX and Warbrd grips would work with the Winwing bases with the adaptor? Im thinking of upgrading from a warthog base and want to ensure I can use the largest variety of grips EDIT: also why am asking questions, what sort of delivery and import charges can I expect to the UK? And do all winwing products fit on Warthog mounting plates?
  4. Oh one more question...do virpil grips work on the Warthog base? Only the Warbrd grip will be perfect when the F-4E is released
  5. please delete, didnt realise there were dedicated Flight stick forums
  6. I just watched that, do you have to get rid of the outer cover or can you put it back on? I am just worried about breaking something during or after install and flushing £200 down the drain
  7. I have removed it from ebay now, but im still not sure if I want to stick with the warthog stick (chair mount or spring swap) or just buy a new stick, either a cheap one for short term (like the TM Airbus or T1600m) or a mid range stick like the Gladiator for medium term with a view to sorting something for the Warthog stick later...or get a Viirpil base and use the Warthog stick...I do want that Warbrd grip for when the F-4E comes to DCS @VpR81 How much of a risk is there to frack up the stick when replacing the spring? I switched out the Slew on the throttle, is it easier or harder than that? Do you have to get rid of the round plastic surrounding the stick like the video says?
  8. So I bought a Warthog HOTAS whilst furloughed in 2020...I had been looking at upgrading my venerable TM HOTAS X and had narrowed it down to the Warthog and the X56 (VKB and Virpil were too expensive). I basically went with the Warthog as it was the first to come into stock...Im not a serious simmer btw Now whilst I used it for a while after purchase I havent used it nearly as much as i should have, and after getting a new, smaller, desk i noticed what when using Monstertech desk mounts the stiff centering spring is actually shaking my desk and monitors and im worried that something may break. So i thought about spending a bit of money to fix the situation...get a new spring (may end up breaking the joystick), converting the desk mount to a chair mount (I have a small room so it may get in the way a bit)...in the end i decided it might be the best idea to sell the whole HOTAS and downgrade to the X56 and not pay any money...or I could buy a virpil/vkb stick and that £50 Raptor throttle that came out recently So ive put the Warthog on ebay but now im having second thoughts, do i really want to downgrade for free or should i shell out a bit of cash to try and live with the Warthog...and then i thought about upgrading, just selling the Warthog stick and getting a Virpil/vkb stick. Ive got both the full HOTAS and just the stick on ebay and am waiting to see if either sell to see what money i end up with As I said above, I am not a super serious simmer so probably wouldnt notice the shortcomings of downgrading but as I am out of work atm I really need to consider if its worth paying more to keep the Warthog or upgrade it. Let me know your thought below, hopefully they will help me make up my mind
  9. I do understand now, thanks for clarifying. I just have to save for a couple of months
  10. Just wondering as most of the other third party mods get a much bigger discount of 50% and i just wondered why the Tomcat doesnt and if it ever will in the future
  11. The British Phantoms would offer a 'different flight experience' due to the Spey engines having very different pros and cons to the J79. Plus slightly different avionics and weapons like the Skyflash.
  12. Is there an alternative to the Tomcat for learning 60s/70s BVR avionics and techniques?
  13. Ok, just made up a list between wikipedia and myabandonware (and my PC) and i own, owned or played (via demo or other PC) 57 flight sims and or games: Probably i few i missed or dont remember but thats still quite a list that doesnt even include the current MSFS My Flight Sims.xls
  14. ok last question, does the A-4 have BVR? Or is the Tomcat the only period option for sparrows?
  15. I would like the F-14 but it never goes as cheap as the ED modules in the sales...and my money is a little limited right now.
  16. So while I have a few modules I got cheap on steam (a10 and fc3) the complexity of these modules has put me off a little and I have never learned these modules...but now my favourite plane is on the way I will be flying it. But I don't want to go in with no experience so I thought it might be a good idea to train on something else from the same period (during the next sale) to get to grips with 60s/70s avionics and systems. The obvious choices are the F-5, Mig-21 and Viggen.. but are there any better options and if not which of the 3 would be best for 'training'?
  17. As a Brit I have to hope for the K and M (or FG1 and FGR2)...if not as proper modules then as mods to the inevitable J version.
  18. Just wondering as the best places I have found is Wikipedia and myabandonware and I'm sure they don't have everything I want to make a list of every sim I've played in the last 30 years
  19. I do hope the naval versions will include or lead to the UK versions. As a brit I would love a full version of the F-4K/M Or...how easy would it be to create variant mods based on these official modules?
  20. OK so which of all the current modules would be the best to learn to prepare for the various systems on the F-4?
  21. I hope this mean models from different services, such as US and UK Navies, Luftwaffe and Middle East variants. Not just the C and D coz they are also USAF I also wonder how hard is it to make different versions of one plane...how similar are these planes in terms of DCS?
  22. Just wondering, as this is a modern, computer assisted, fly-by-wire, aircraft...will it be easier to learn all the systems than the F-14/16/18?
  23. Commenting to keep track
  24. Should i uninstall the stable version first or will having it make installing OB quicker?
