  1. I know that BS1 isnt integrated into DCS like all the other modules but are there any differences in terms of flying and learning the helicopter?
  2. They only used the Js for one squadron...74 as they had to send that squadron's FGR2s to the Falkland Islands to patrol. Personally I would love the K/FG1 as this was both carrier and land based for the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force respectively
  3. Both of those look promising, thanks
  4. Stick fiddlers - people who use (fiddle with) flight STICKS Cross-Genre = community that focuses on different types of game, i.e. Space sims and flight sims as they are similar, to a degree
  5. I know there are plenty of communities for specific flight and space sims but are there any multi genre/game communities that cover both...where you can chat and play with all sorts of flight stick fiddlers...be it in F-16s, Spitfires, Mk3 Cobras or X-wings.
  6. Wow. alot of replies, thanks alot guys, appreciate it. BTW I am not a VR user and have been using flight sims for 30 years since Dogfight on the Amiga but never done any study level stuff. What im taking from most of these replies is that it doesnt really matter what i start with, pick a plane i like and build from there.
  7. Been flying various sims for a long time (since Dogfight on the Amiga) but nothing study level like with DCS
  8. I keep going back and forth on what is the best plane to start with, I do have the A-10C but it is very complex (didnt realise at the time) and i do have FC3 and mods, It seems to make sense to start with the A-4 then move onto the F-15C before diving into one of the big 3 (4 when the Phantom comes out) but are there any other mods i should look at?
  9. So i am trying to get into Dcs again...I bought the a10, fc3 and black shark 1 years ago on sale but never really used them. So I opened up BS1 and there are no training missions on the folder...I found a set of legacy files on the file section here and I wondered if they would work? Being unemployed ATM I can't buy any new modules right now so need to make do with what I own
  10. Ok one more question, will these files work with the original Black Shark module? https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2843893/ Only it doesnt seem to have any training missions by default
  11. Oh and thanks for that, perfect for me, I also found a set of A-4E training missions so whatever i pick i am covered
  12. Ok one last question, between the A-4E mod or the FC3 F-15, which is the best to start with to 'train' for the upcoming Phantom? The A-4 is more of the period but the F-15 is more the same role
  13. So I am planning on jumping deep into DCS when the Phantom comes out but beforehand I want to 'train' on the A-4E and FC3 planes. Now im planning on using tutorial videos but Im wondering the best way to get missions for this training, should i make them myself or is there a good place to download them?
  14. Yeah will probably upgrade to a Virpil at some point, seems to be the most compatible with the most grips.
  15. Cool, thanks for the info. Sticking with a spring replacement for my Warthog for now.
  16. That is great, thank you!
  17. So for my Warthog I use a pic like this to keep track of different button assignments for different games (see attrached) But I cant find one for the Warbrd or VFX grip
  18. To be fair, thats not much cheaper than track IR, im looking for free or very cheap, to see how i get on before i commit to a proper solution
  19. Ive seen a few videos about cheap/free phone apps for head tracking and wanted some direct feedback from you guys and to which is the best?
  20. Decided to go with the green spring for now, its the cheapest option and should be the best short term option....I can grab the Warbird grip for when the Phantom comes out and then look at getting a better base in a year or two (probably a Virpil for grip compatability)
  21. Just wondering if there are any good mfd programs you can use on your phone or tablet?
  22. I emailed TM, gave them £10 and they sent me another indent which i shaved down myself...could be cheaper than 3d printing
  23. Hmm thats a shame, seems odd that the Virpil grips arent compatible when the work with the Warthog base
  24. Has anyone here used the Warbrd or VFX grips on the Warthog base? An email from Virpil said they should both work fine as they have less buttons than the Warthog stick but i would like to get some firsthand knowledge
