  1. Well I am still trying to decide whether to stick with the modern planes I own (Hornet, Strike Eagle, Warthog, FC3), for my first experience with DCS or go for an older, 'simpler' plane like the Tomcat, Fishbed or Sabre. I want to get a good bedrock of skills that I can bring to any aircraft but im not sure the best way to do it....stick with one plane for hundreds or hours or move about?
  2. Ok so its probably a bit of both, I to will use videos as well, seems the training missions leave out a lot, even on a module hats been out as long as the Hornet, such as Laser GBUs
  3. So Im trying the last few F/A-18 training missions and despite doing everything im told stuff doesnt happen the way it should. Before i get frustrated I need to know if this is my skill issue or do missions just not work sometimes?
  4. So now we have a full fidelity variant in the E I was wondering how hard would it be for ED to use this module to make the C full fidelity? Surely they have like 90% of the needed info from the E?
  5. So once ive done the tutorials for each aircraft I'm still left not knowing exactly how to operate in a realistic battle space like in this sim. Are there video or ingame tutorials for stuff like missile avoidance and tactical awareness of the battle field? For example, I know how to lock up and shoot down an enemy but have no idea when its 8v8 and there are lots of them flying at me shooting missiles
  6. Just wondering if any of the view controls can let me jump from left to right to centre MFDs with a zoomed in view with a click of a control? Im sure there is a way but I'm not overly familiar with the camera system in DCS
  7. Only im still seeing a 20 frame drop between chase and cockpit view
  8. Well i think for now I will learn on more complete modules like the Hornet and Warthog and use videos to help transfer to the Strike Eagle. It wasnt probably the best idea to learn DCS on a just released and incomplete module, especially one that IRL has 2 people flying it
  9. Well i know there are tutorial videos online but its so much easier with ingame missions as it sets everything up, I was watching a video for the different AA radar modes and it just wasnt sinking in as I wasnt ingame and following instructions. Also, save me making a new thread, is there a road map for features like the AI WSO?
  10. Tried to google for something showing the real HOTAS and its buttons but all i kept seeing were DCS related images, anyone got a pic or doc showing what the buttons on the real Hornet HOTAS do?
  11. I understand the module has just come out but I was wondering if there was a timescale for more ingame training missions to come out? I know there are plenty of video tutorials but I really like the ingame ones
  12. So the ED's C model by default let's you zoom with the mouse wheel and look around without hitting ctrl-c but I can't get the E to do the same, I can get me use look with ctrl-c but no zoom with the wheel. Am I missing something obvious or do some modules just not allow it?
  13. Oh i remember, its the winwing bases that are compatible
  14. Im sure i read somewhere that the Virpil bases will fit on Warthog mount plates...or did I imagine that?
  15. Or am i thinking of another forum that had separate forums for each stick maker? Ignore me, its just buried deeper than i thought itwas
  16. Oh of course it was 23Sq. How did i forget?
  17. Serial# 112620 (bought in 2020) Location: Romford (near London), United Kingdom
  18. So aside from keeping an aircraft manual or keybind list on the screen is there anything more interactive that can be done with a 2nd computer whilst flying in DCS? Any 3rd party programs such as moving maps or mfd repeaters that work with DCS?
  19. So I was going through a pile of stuff and found a 2nd base plate for my throttle that I don't remember it's use (throttle is on a monstertech desk mount), it has 4 rubber pads on the bottom and doesn't have the little silver plate that is on the throttle. Is this a replacement plate or an additional one for desktop use (hence the rubber pads)?
  20. Just wondering, i love the LEDs on the throttle, and I can match the colour on my RGB keyboard and mouse but there are no lights on the stick. So did anyone ever make an LED kit or anything like that to light up the stick?
  21. For example, we have the F-14 with 2 versions and with the F-4E coming out many people are hoping for one of the dozen or so other Phantom variants to be released (mine are the British Phantoms). So what I want to know is how difficult is it for the creators, and modders, to created these variants? How easy is it to change the engines (and remodel the fuselages with the Brit birds), to change the avionics etc? I just want to know if we Phantom Phans are getting our hopes up for every version of the Phantom or if the reality is that we can only get a couple (the F-4E and the inevitable Naval version)?
  22. If i recall correctly, the increased take off AOA and the more powerful Spey engines actually melted the decks on American carriers
