Ive just started playing with the ME. Is it possible to get ships to fire cruise missiles from max range? They only seem to want to fire if they are close enough to see the target right on the coast.
Harrier went out of service at the start of the year mate, they are looking at selling the airframes to someone at the moment. Yanks, Spain and India are the favourites to buy at the moment and there is enough training material to probably not warrant a contract.
Its a sad state of affairs the whole Carrier/GR9/F35 balls up.
It will work, you just wont be able to release at the range you could in F4. If it keeps you in cover and from over flying the target area its still a winner though
Surely depends on the threat and terrain types though, a lot of the time its not ideal flying straight and level over the target! Popping up from under visual and radar and slicing back down after release has got to have its advantages. I know Tornados have toss bombed upto 4 miles range but they have an obvious speed advantage. Anything with GPS guidance has got to be a winner here, im off to give it a go! :)
I thought when toss bombing you want to be increasing your climb angle as the bomb releases rather than at a steady angle, so you get the added effect of g force on the weapon to give you a bit more range? Good work though! I tried it earlier with 82s and they kept overshooting
They may well do, trainee RAF pilots always insist they fly jets aswell but I cant find it in myself to describe the Tucano as a jet regardless of what type of engine it has.
Is there any other planes that get a closer merger to helo? Oh no thats right... :) The systems would be fun, nozzle control, always close to your JPT limit, duct pressure, hover performance, water flow/content, sniper, brimstone, carrier ops... etc
Ive got a basic Android app working, gives basic info nothing like these ios ones so far though! Ill post some screenies when I get a layout that isnt all over the place :)
Most jets I've worked on will sit at idle until certain temp is reached, its like cooling your Turbo on a car before shutting down, otherwise you will get tons of heat soak. Prop planes often give it a quick blast before shut down to get some cool air down the engine (grove tutor and tucano anyway).
