  1. Not sure about tonkas but, on Harrier if the mfcds weren't working then the hud will be off too as it just a mirror of data sent through the mfcds. Normally you will just lose one system such as the tad or tgp page rather than the whole mfcd, if your air data computer was hit and u/s you would lose all flight info but the display and Hudson would still output what it has available, plus a load of cautions and other issues!
  2. I've seen Harrier mpcds drop out due to one pin in a plug not fitted correctly, it doesn't take much to mess up display units
  3. I think green line tape deserves a special mention, on behalf of the dog lovers ;)
  4. I seem to remember GG (prepared to be corrected!) mentioning once that they were trialed but never put into service with the A10?
  5. Does this on BS when you approach a farp doesnt it?
  6. Fly past pics from the last day of flying, cant figure out how to add thumnails to forum :) http://picasaweb.google.com/Rob.Munro81/HarrierFormation?feat=directlink
  7. has anyone tried playing with the lua files on A10C to allow it as a loadout? You could let aircraft use sniper on BS but dont know how it would work with a player aircraft!
  8. UK saves 1 billion by scrapping Harrier, would have saved 7 billion by scrapping Tornado. There is no point in not building the new carriers as it will cost more to get out of the contract than it will to build them. UK needs F35 as a Harrier and Tornado replacement. There is no Nimrods with an air worthiness certificate, wont see them fly again. Same with Harrier, BAE were hoping to keep a few flying to use as demos for prospective buyers but that's been put to an end with no worthiness cert. All the flyers are being stripped down ready for road move and storage.
  9. Enjoyed a bit of Mountain Divide yesterday! Good work! :)
  10. Most Falcon users might like the idea of a dynamic campaign more
  11. How does the WH flying controls function in RL? Are you rods/cables directly to actuators? Do they use hyd servos to give the curves?
  12. You can have all kinds of funny shaped bellcranks and pulleys that give the control surface whatever range is required by the designers. Quite often you will find an aileron goes down further than it goes up, using the same amount of stick input.
  13. Where abouts you at mate? I'm in Oakham. Rutland will never sound the same again!
  14. Strangely enough if it was upto the head of the army we would be buying super tucanos from Brazil to use for gcas... Its a massive loss and pilot and engineering skill and experience. Its a fairly basic jet but the bits that allow it to hover take some getting your head round coming from conventional fast jets.
  15. I think they were suppose to be flying over Lincoln cathedral? The sound of the four of them winding down together was pretty eerie We still managed to make plenty of noise today with a bit of tie down action ;)
  16. Rigger tool kit - Speed tape, hammer, GS
  17. Do you need the stability channels on?
  18. Restrepo has some footage of Apaches and Hogs doing gun runs, they both are popping flares quite rapidly anywhere near the 'hot' zone. I think anytime your flying low over a potentially hot area it would be a good idea to pop some flares
  19. Watched it the other night, its repeating pretty much every night in the UK on NG. Great piece of film making, should probably be shown in schools around the world.
  20. Harrier would deffinatly be a popular choice and add a few interesting and unique systems! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtQRHm1CZdI&playnext=1&list=PLEAF599F07203DC4C&index=4##
  21. Big Harrier flypast over Cottesmore on Dec 15th bringing Harrier flying operations to an end, should be good if theres any spotters in the area looking for a few final pics. No word yet if any will be kept for displays, highly doubt it though given the financial bias to the defense review.
  22. Its not been mentioned for a few pages so... Harrier anyone? Make it a pack with GR7/9, T12, AV8b and FA2. Failing that a Tornado would do. Although to be honest I would rather get a dynamic campaign before any new aircraft, but I think there is more chance of the Harrier!
  23. +1 for the Harrier love :)
  24. I worked at Woodford on Nimrod for a bit earlier this year, been on Harriers for the past 5 years. A lot of awesome skilled blokes and lasses out of work.
  25. Sniper rocks
