Humorous: Group therapy for flight simmers
ZoomBoy27 replied to arraamis's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
ED has gotten important things wrong, had bad things happen to them which weren't their fault, and further amplified all that by the lack of communications by ED. But I expected a lot of the response to be more sophisticated from flight simmers - especially when it came to realizing there were bound to be problems with a distribution system built from scratch by a small company that didn't know that programming a game was different than actually distributing it. But the response got so frighteningly intense, it certainly was off the scale for the smaller problems. And a lot of it was from people who hadn't bought FC as yet. It was like all the problems they had with all the "systems" in the past, just came pouring out. 2 other things - the intense + paranoic economic debate on the Western vs. Russian prices - the conspiracies around the Electronic Boutique web-page my 2 cents -
1) reset it to another mode(ground or air-to-air) and then go back to Navigation mode. It should be at WP 1 2) Keep hitting the ~TILDE and watch the HSI waypoint information as it cycles through all the waypoints.

It's also possible you don't have to dive in as soon. Locking up the general area is good enough and then the TV Monitor can look below the HUD. I also go in with Full flaps (SHIFT-F) and 80-90% Power. I've also gotten used to having bombloads I can drop while my laser is cooling. I usually can't get them on target but if there's another group of targets close by then I set up for them.

Anyone to translate Mission Info into French?
ZoomBoy27 replied to Brit_Radar_Dude's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I thought the french had a different version that the US. Does that mean if I make a mission with my version, the french can fly it? -
Su-25T MissionPack - Struggle in Crimea
ZoomBoy27 replied to ZoomBoy27's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Oh, you're talking about the Buba Boys - Yoni, Yimmi, and Yippi - you'll be meeting a lot of them during the campaign. I don't seem to have a problem with them - but others are not so lucky. I tend to be a get in - get out sort of guy. I do not loiter and I ingress usually at 500kmh often 550knh. I AM AFRAID - I am afraid because I know that one Su or MiG can tear through a flight of A-10's or Si-25T's like a pitbull through a basket of kittens. That's the risk you take when there's not air dominance. There's a whole level of strategic battling that goes on while missions are being tasked. I had an earlier argument about helicopters with one guy who said helos are the exact opposites of the A-10's/Su25Ts ground attack types and very much more vulnerable to fast movers. And that A-10's/Su25Ts were very much like the fighters. He was wrong - they are speedy helicopters who can't hide as well as real helicopters - a trade-off. BE AFRAID One guy, MigKiller I think, Jumps into the F-15Cs, clears a pathway, and then jumps back into the A-10s. I never saw it as necessary. No, I left the the AI at the exact same level as in the A-10 1.02 missionpack - I did change the timings of arrival on a mission or two. There's another factor that might happening. Fighters work well in coordination with SAMs to provide a shield or umbrella. I've seen some changes in the ranges for the bigger theatre-wide SAMs and that might be affecting the situation. In one of the later missions, one Buba boy took on 4 F15C's under a SAM umbrella and survived and start to hunt down my Su-25Ts. -
Probably means "on road" But for open fields I like to use "Cone" Gives a different look like charging.

Su-25T MissionPack - Struggle in Crimea

Enjoy -
It's in their financial interest to get this up and running properly. They have the 1.2 coming out. That's a big chunk of change to miss out on especially when Simware et al take their cut.

Shared Custom Mission\Campaign Formats
ZoomBoy27 replied to arraamis's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I remember reading in the feature/changes list something about a Time Start randomization. Anyone seen that take effect? EDIT: After testing, it does not appear to be defaulted ON and there's nothing in the Difficulty Options. EDIT after Searching: Shepski the Moderator in a thread said the 1.1 ReadMe document says: Random events have been introduced; the same mission can be played multiple times with very different results. You can turn off the randomizer in the LUA script line: RandomMissionEvents = false in the file Config\World\World.lua Maybe we should include the RandomMissionEvents info in the Mission Standard Format?? And to press ED to put it on the Difficulty screen in 1.2. What do they randomize? Sounds like a plan -
Shared Custom Mission\Campaign Formats
ZoomBoy27 replied to arraamis's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
De-classifying: For me I want the classified for the ability to hide things. I want the Briefing to be the main focus with the map being the way I control the information for the 1st time. After the 2nd time it doesn't matter much. Payload control is not a high priority. pre-approval for established mission\campaign modifications Not needing it but I want the credit for the base and not to be held responsible for the errors. Shared work testing We need a centralized place Format I had to make a linked mission pack and needed a format. We can start there. Political: Previous mission(optional): This Mission: Air Superiority: Air Defence: Meteo: ===================== Mission Title by ZoomBoy27 Based on XXXX by JohnDoe27 with/without consultation or Original Mission Password: gilliguck Mission Version 1.00 LOMAC Version FC1.1 NOTES: (Explanations of jargon, the various waaaah! points.) -
27+ linked missions for those who fly the Su-25T to provide extra content for the Flaming Cliffs add-on. Based on my previous A-10 MissionPack. You can download it at the following sites Download @ LOMACFiles - Thanks Thomas, Merlin and the rest! View @ Combat Aces - Thanks CombatAces/Biohazard crew! Your site looks great too! For those learning the Su-25T, you can try my Up-to-Speed Guide to the Su-25T.

ED do you give us a great act of benevolence please!

What about SimWare in Belgium or RC Simulations in the UK Official Links to them here. -
OK Fixed

Corrected that as weel. I even gave Emergency Leveling Mode its own special font Woohoo!!!!! :icon_jook

On another board, someone suggested that the Pause function should allow you to work the instruments rather than just looking around. In other complex sims(like Falcon 4.0), I and others have found it very useful to pause a game and then to start to work the instruments by looking at the manual or notes or even the screen. At least have the HUD change without updating the whole avionics. Certainly something to be built into the LOCKON Successor.
-
Thanks. So ALT-3 is not a whole auto-pilot mode but just levels you out and then puts you into Barometric Altitude Hold? I read the manual(pg 49) and it seems that way. Otherwise corrected as best as I can.
-
Nope, just A-10 and Su-25T. Except for the Dog-fighting, Bombs to drop/Missiles to shoot, Combat/Navigation Modes sections, most of the commands are the same.

A-10 Missions Pack - Struggle in Crimea
ZoomBoy27 replied to ZoomBoy27's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Bump :icon_pidu -
Fixed some bits(thanks Ironhand,AStotzer and others) and I've also compiled some Mission advice(link at the bottom of Guide) which has an extra practice mission.

I think the 1.1 Shilka gets more lead on target sooner. Shilka hunting with cannon is a more difficult art. And you'll have to jink more on your egress. Mainly rudder; some flaps. But a good missile lock on then and bye bye.

I think it has to do with minimum aircraft avoidance distance. My takeoff height 90m for the Su-25T at Krasnodoyoe With 12:00 mission start, I set up 3 waypoints for my transport(An-26B). WP0) 11:59:55 Ht:110m Speed 300 WP1) 12:00:00 Ht:105m Speed 300 WP2) 12:03:00 Ht:110m Speed 300 When I put WP0 just above the Su-25T(runway start NOT icon), it climbs and then sinks back to the required level. That's your avoidance. When I place WP0 further down the runway, it glides smoothly the way you want it to. Also remember that the different Transports have different minimum heights An-26B 105m IL-76 150m After testing for the AN-26B - .30km is enough horizontal distance between WP0 and the SU-25T exact takeoff position to have a normal looking "takeoff" - vert difference of 15m for the IL-76 - that minimum height of 150m was sooo overpowering, it made no horizontal distance safe enough - vert difference of 60m. It all looks weird because it.

It seems to be LOMAC 1.02 reboxed. Looks like the web-guy got it wrong.

The difference between AFM and the usual FMs will bend future flight sims towards single planes - the difference is just that marked. Oleg has said with his BoB that there's going to be less planes with better modeling. It will be a good time for flight sims. I saw an article today in Computer Games magazine that said for this generation the graphics will reach their limit on looking good and that physics is the new graphics. With AFMs, we flight simmers will be ahead of the curve. Now if we could just get game content to be the new graphics.

Don't know about fire rates. There's been some changes in effective ranges according to the threat circles Strela-10 range == v1.02 - 4.9km, v1.1 - 5.0 Tor 931 range == v1.02 - 12km, v1.1 - 16 S-300PS Site == v1.02 - 74km, v1.1 - 115 So far I don't see them affecting my missions - except for possibly Feodosija Blocker but that's a over-powering hornets' nest of SAMs even in 1.02. The big SAMs in my missions are avoided altogether - little change. With no terrain to mask on water these are important difference. Just adjust the types of missions you can do. Bit of a bummer if you want to directly transfer A-10 SEAD and anti-ship strikes to 1.1. How is it for CAS? How is it for AAA?
