Me: looks at the rest of an Apache. Chunky flying boxes of death.
-
Just wanted to ask what the functionality of the MTT is, and how it works. (couldn't find any information about it on the Internet)
-
Don't worry, its been the same for me and probably half of the helo fans.

The Apache is a breeze when it comes to system ergonomics. Everything is super tidy, and right were you need it. And if you take a look at the cyclic and collective, and think about what you'll be frequently using it becomes very clear that its certainly not really more complex than other modern platforms in DCS. If that already wasn't good enough, lots of controls are doubled both on the HOCAC and MFDs. Overall, just see it as a helo A10C. Once you get the hang of it, you'll have a blast!

Lul, nevertheless that dude was peeking around the corner and taking what seems to be a shooting stance. And if we keep in mind that the Apaches were called in for TIC and advised that friendlies were taking fire from the location they were looking at, i can't blame them for misinterpreting the situation. If i were in their situation with that pucker factor i would've lit up that dude faster than i could think.

They also seem to have gotten new ragdolls.

In the recent teaser vid and the preview.

Has anybody seen any vibration in the TADS caused by the gun? (After rewatching the last videos it seemed that we only had cockpit vibration)
-
Can you use altitude hold in conjunction with attitude hold? (to hold the bank angle)
-
Nevertheless, a animated AI ground crew for the apache would be awesome.

I really don't want to hate about the latest update on the M230. But the external gun sound is very hollow and metallic. Yes i know they stated its still WIP. (maybe a bit more bass, and a louder pop could do the trick)

Since I'm not really willing to pay thousands of dollars for a replica TEDAC I'm definitely going to use a xbox controller. I also remeber back in the day, most arcades and electronics stores have mounted their controllers on something simmilar to a somewhat flexible boom arm. (sadly i can't remember whom they were manufactured by)

reported GAU-8 projectile sonic boom appearing in front of the projectile.

Awesome to hear, and don't stress yourselves with this since its a really minor bug. -
Its just a guntape. So its not really that brutal or gory.

Ranging from janes longbow to the arma 3 Apache longbow mod, they all tought me that the FCR of the apache is able to differentiate between basic vehicle types (tracked, wheeled etc.) this capability sounds very reasonable and is probably achieved by a bunch of algorithms who were trained to find all the little details in the radar signature of different vehicles that set them apart. The only problem i have with this is that almost all "simulations" and games represent this capability with a 100% accuracy which i highly doubt represents the real life FCR in a realistic manner. Although this information is probably pretty classified and also varries from block to block due to software improvements, does anybody have a rough idea on how good this FCR feature works on a day to day basis?

Chain gun: Effective engagement ranges?
MRTX replied to Hummingbird's topic in Military and Aviation
I've tested the current DCS M230 with HEDP ammo, and it has really good HE performance and it also shreds anything up to a BMP into pieces. Only weird thing is that ED gave the HEDP ammo a 11 second timed fuze. But nevertheless it was never meant for player use, and they're probably going to rework it although what we have right now is suprisingly good. -
Chain gun: Effective engagement ranges?
MRTX replied to Hummingbird's topic in Military and Aviation
From what i've seen on Apache guntapes, their grouping of the gun is normally about 10-15 meters big at about 1.0 to 1.8 kilometers, so that estimate seems pretty accurate. And in the end software can only do so much until your guns physical accuracy limit is reached, so i don't really expect any severe accuracy improvements in the future, and although accuracy can always be better I'm pretty sure that the DOD and especially the pilots are satisfied with it. And since bell and sikorsky have both shown their FARA concepts with rotary cannons I'm expecting that the armys future platforms will have comparable if not even worse gun accuracy. -
? I would just recommend to read again what i've wrote earlier.

Since the available data about Eurofighter is very sparse, we will probably never get to this point. For example, every weapon available for the German Eurofighter is either confirmed or it obviously can't be integrated due to classification or mission preperation required for its use. (just hinting at Taurus) Thing is, most weapons and systems the community ask for implementation into other modules are already in use for a long time and the needed documentation is mostly available so its within a reasonable area to ask for them (although it might be unrealistic), but Truegrit/Heatblur is already trying to integrate pretty much everything they can which is not classified so there is not much left to ask for. And yes there will always be idiots who will ask for the latest and greatest tech for the Eurofighter but pretty much everybody else understandands that it just can't be done due to classification. Overall, i think there is not much to worry about.
-
MWS/MAW consisting of AMIDS should be a guaranteed feature since it was available from day 1 for the Eurofighter, the only question i have if Truegrit will integrate target classification for it or not. Overall AMIDS will be a really cool system since in contrast to other MWS/MAW its radar based and therefore features a way higher detection range. When it comes to the TGP, since the eurofighter is solely using PGMs it wouldn't make much sense to integrate those without a TGP.

Tbh. i don't really mind the missing A2G capabilities at launch, since i see the eurofighter more as an air superiority fighter with A2G capabilities. So its bread and butter will always be A2A engagements. And the German Eurofighter only features a rather limited arsenal of A2G ordnance, which consists of paveways , JDAMs and Taurus. And we'll only be left with the Paveways and JDAM's since Taurus is still highly classified and needs very thorough mission pre planning and can't be used for TOO or simple PP attacks afaik. Yes A2G capabilities for the Eurofighter will be a nice addition but its far from being a highlight of the module.
