  1. ralfidude, I think this happens when you try to slew in point mode and the TGP is masked. Not nessicarrly with complete line of sight blockage, but enough to put the M on the display and cause the TGP to enter inertial point mode, where it attempts to re lock the point locked object when unmasked ^^^not sure if that made any sense :D I think that's what you're experiencing
  2. Get rid of the "prepared" aircraft entirely. I can't confirm this in the current build of the sim but in earlier versions it was possible to fix a mission after prepare mission messed it up by removing the aircraft in question
  3. Did you use the prepare mission function?
  4. I wonder the same thing my self quite a bit :D
  5. Check out the page in the manual that explains the maverick symbology. It sounds like you're talking about two different things. The tracking gate is the actual crosshair that you use to lock targets (it collapses when lock is achieved) and the pointing cross gives you a sense of how far off boresight the MAV seeker is looking. The pointing cross is the only symbol that flashes. The tracking gate does a bit of wiggling when it has a lock, is that what you mean by flashing?
  6. Could have sworn you could revert if you just load the mission again (via the load option in the editor)
  7. for the record: I totally switch the Maverick polarity depending on light or dark contrast...you are not alone:alien: if only I really needed to!
  8. That'll be a happy day for me! ... However you, Eddie and the rest of the testing staff will be too busy responding to the inevitable bug reports to enjoy it! ;)
  9. ...You know I'm still waiting for ED to model duds:lol: :D
  10. I can dig it! :joystick:
  11. For the record I'm fairly sure the flashing pointing cross doesn't nessicarrly equal a low probability of a hit (in the sim) even though it does IRL. Eddie, can you confirm that one?
  12. Try less fuel and make sure to get rid of the gun ammo. Afaik real world demo birds are really stripped down, no pylons and a lot of other "superfluous" parts are removed Some who knows specifics will probably explain more thourghly
  13. Wouldn't call that "incorrect" ...if it works it works :) Strictly speaking you don't have to slew. If the TGP is pointing at your target (area or point/static target or moving target) and is generating the SPI all you have to do is slave MAV to SPI, get in range and spam TMS up until it locks.
  14. TMS left short ?
  15. Also... if you force yourself to fly steady, think "stable platform" you'll find the the MAV seekers erroneous behavior is more predictable. ...If you still can't get the hang of it Zomba's suggestion is a great one. Kind of the easy way out though :D
  16. No, get used to slewing and quickly pressing TMS down. It'll get easier with time
  17. very cool, in the meantime I'll run it again
  18. The only message(s) that were not perfectly clear were the ones that played over each other. That only happened at the end of the action when . It was hard to tell what was happening at the end because of that... I'll run it again with the guys to make sure it doesn't happen again, I think we need to be a little quicker on some of the last targets
  19. Okay, so the VHF AM radio has two prominently featured knobs on its control panel (bottom left and right of the panel, the frequency selection dial and the frequency mode dial respectively) try setting the left dial to "MAN" (as in manual, I'm assuming your setting it to"EMER AM") set the right dial to "TK" tune to 150.000 (or whatever the right frequency is) call tanker... get so frustrated trying to get gas that you shoot him down :D done :pilotfly:
  20. ^^^thats correct A few suggestions... Turn off easy radios in the options menu, make sure you're tuning the VHF AM radio (it's the forward most radio), make sure that the white radio text shows VHF AM (if not check your key mappings and make sure to note the combo for VHF AM)
  21. Very cool! Had a blast flying it last night, only problem was that we seemed to simultaneously lose and win. Two audio messages played over each other at the end (what I think was the end anyway) and of the four people flying it not a one could understand much. We broke it!
  22. A powerful track.
  23. Prowler, Sorry I'm not Aaron :) ...The symbology and info displayed doesn't look like the real deal to me. As real HUD tape is one of the more readily available reference materials for these fighters, it'd be (imho of course) one of the most important things to get right. I for one, have only ever seen HUD tape for the harrier, no MFD stuff...so as far as I'm concerned you can do whatever you want with those :D Good to hear that it's getting reworked.
  24. I completely misunderstood your post:doh: From messing around in the shelltable.lua it would seem that armor penitration is indeed a variable (for kinetic shells anyway). Not sure if it's tweakable for the mk 5, or if I have the smarts to figure it out, but I'll take a look when I get home. Hopfully it'll turn out to be a decimal in the wrong spot or something similar
