  1. Thanks for the ideas, gave them a go and this is what I found: Yes it's updating on every weapon release. No, once you have created Mark A, a newly created Mark Z will not automatically become the Steer/SPI (like it will before you create Mark A) regardless of selecting the last Mark Z and making it Steer/SPI (As soon as a weapon event occurs Mark A becomes Steer/SPI and you must manually select Mark Z) I'm going to prepare a quick track to illustrate this MARK Z.trk
  2. DCS- P-51...:doh::doh::doh: oops
  3. Do you have a link? I can totally understand that ED needs to charge for these kind of upgrades. I'm happy to pay but I totally agree that the "don't let the customer base know the plan/situation" is tiring.
  4. Agreed. Sadly ED isn't in the business of instant gratification for it's customers... The last DCS aircraft that was announced was the a-10... That was over four years ago! It took them roughly three years from that point to release the final version. We're in for a long wait... ...can't help but show my inherent pessimism. Frankly, I get the sense that ED has a lot of projects in the pipeline but nothing on the table (when it comes to a consumer market hi-fi jet aircraft sim)
  5. I've got to say that this looks amazingly fun. Do you plan on making a 3d interior? Also, please don't give up on Wags :argue:. Pester and hound him until he lets you develop this for DCS! ...to be clear I'll probably buy it either way
  6. I'm fairly sure that the HUD improvements concern how the HUDs are rendered in sim. Not additional hud functionality. I'll be happy if I'm wrong
  7. You sir, are an optimist
  8. Did you install the modules after you installed the new version of world?
  9. AFAIK it's a known issue, possibly caused by alt-tabing out of the sim
  10. Very cool!
  11. I'll pass on that one :D Having read a bit further back into the thread I will say that I better understand your point. Still don't agree though (you definitely won't catch me calling you a kid...) I mentioned this before and I think it's the crux of my position here so I'll mention it again: Compare the Maverick missile implementation in LOMAC to DCS. While I think you're saying that all the important skills required to pull of the perfect attack can be honed with both simulations. I'd agree. But I think there's no question that DCS is far more realistic (read: hard..or whatever you want I suppose :)) in that department. I have no reason to believe that the same isn't true for LOMAC a2a combat... Of course ED hasn't risen the bar yet in that department so it's a bit harder to compare.
  12. Got two items that might be bugs... First: HUD SPI submode. With the SPI set as IFFCC (in GUNS master-mode) the SPI is linked to the gun pipper. In the current build of world (using CM ammo) the SPI tracks the lower HEI dot instead of the AP dot in the center of the pipper. I figured that might be linked to that long squashed bug that had PAC tracking the HEI dot instead of the AP dot. This can be seen quite clearly at long slant ranges. Illustrated in track. Not really in the know on this one but it doesn't seem right Second: I've been having issues getting a lock on armed bunker (Russian bunker 2 in fortification list) units with mavericks. You can force correlate just fine but I can't get a normal lock Also illustrated in track Thanks in advance testers BUG TRACK 10_3_12.trk
  13. ...FC3 f15 pit
  14. Where can I adjust those settings? That's in windows right, not DCS options? ^^^I know that's a pretty dumb question... never messed with it though
  15. That's great news. I think the russian birds will be more on par with the new F-15C pit with these textures
  16. very cool, subscribed
  17. Performance has decreased maybe 20% for me on average. I've got an ATI card
  18. Very nice!
  19. lol... This game is sooo hard:lol:
  20. Lol... gotta love the placebo effect
  21. I'm sure he wouldn't fair well... Just to be inflammatory, I wonder how well you'd fair in your Mig-29 when he's hunting you down in DCS-Next... :P
  22. Question for the a10 avionics experts: When entering mark point mode, mark z becomes the default steer point (assuming you haven't created mark A yet) So when you TMS aft long to set SPI to steer every weapon event creates a new SPI. If you have slaved all sensors to SPI this means that your TGP will slave to the point in space that the IFFCC says the weapons will hit (where the pipper was when you fired/released). This is most useful when delivering weapons visually (without the aid TGP) but still wanting to BDA with your TGP. It's also very useful in conjunction with the HUD SPI submode...where the SPI tracks the IFFCC solution depending on master-mode. Okay, so here's the question. The above will only work before you create your first mark point. After that you will have to manually select mark Z every time you release a weapon (I have tried selecting mark Z as steer, SPI to steer and dropping/firing another weapon but it no longer auto updates steer to new mark Z) Is this correct? If so is there a workaround? The above technique is very useful but so is creating mark points... What to do?
  23. Agreed. In my mind DCS and LOMAC aren't equal products with a difference in fidelity, DCS is the next generation of simulation when it comes to combat ac. Doesn't mean LOMAC is bad, just out dated imho I agree with a lot of your post but I have to say that DCS ac aren't realictic because they're hard, they're realistic because they're more realistic :smartass: Just look at the difference between the maverick missile implementation in FC2 and DCS a10c... The DCS version is harder precisely because it is more realistic. It does a much better job of simulating the kind of challenge that our real world counter parts face. I'm looking forward to the day that I can look back at DCS a10c and feel the same way that I do about LOMAC! :pilotfly:
  24. So basically LOMAC aircraft are more realistic than DCS aircraft because "good" pilots aren't worried about switches in the cockpit, just using HOTAS to shoot down other ac?
  25. Yes and no... Well, mainly yes. Black Shark 2 was released a while ago and featured inumerable improvements to almost every aspect of the sim. If you have the original Black Shark installed you can pay (at a discounted price) for the upgrade. You can also just buy Black Shark 2 as a stand alone.
