A-10 Suddenly Air to Air Powerhouse
SmokeyTheLung replied to ttaylor0024's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
if I'm understanding you correctly I'd agree with the above in the context of the IR MAV variants. With the CCD variants you are more frequently locking light on dark or dark on light. As a habit I allways change the polarity appropriately...I don't think it would be "useful" in DCS, just cool :) -
A-10 Suddenly Air to Air Powerhouse
SmokeyTheLung replied to ttaylor0024's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I'd really love to see this simulated as well. Would add a wonderful challenge to the weapon I'd imagine that with the real deal you could lock up a vehicles shadow (assuming the vehicle appears light in the display) if you had the wrong polarity set! Fingers crossed but I'm not holding my breath... Also have to acknowledge that the smulated maverick that ED came up with is amazing, despite it being a bit of smoke and mirrors its definitely the most convincing simulation of a maverick that I've ever seen on a home PC (close enough for rock and roll as they say) -
Hmmm. I think the "L" key enables cockpit lights. Could be that you're accidentally pressing that?
-
I know, it enables tracers for the main guns (and artillery) just happens to be in a thread with .50cal in the title. ...won't fix the problem entirely but it helps
-
There is a post by Mustang in the mods and apps forum/tracer color fix for .50cal thread (sorry, I'd link you but I'm on the mobile at work) that includes an altered file that enables tracers for the tanks... ...doesn't completely fix the problem but it helps a lot!

Damn that looks good! I'm finding myself strangely attracted to you Timghetta :D ...Don't judge me
-
Only on competitive servers, at least in my experience. I personally think it should be an option in the mission editor (as in a mission specific option)
-
Would be very cool indeed. I think ED will need to model fuzing options for the bombs though (I think all the bombs have impact fuzes, you need time delay iirc to skip bombs)
-
So is ED now Ed? ...A one man operation with a 9-5 commitment at his real job I remember Wags posting that, things must have really changed with the staff. Seems excessive but what do I know (absolutely nothing about 3d modeling :D)

No, unless the re-engineered Nevada map is bigger than the beta one (pictured in my screen shot) The beta map was maybe 1/3 of the state of Nevada (southern)
-
Exactly! It's actually a startlingly easy task if you pay attention to your RWR and the terrain around you. Makes for an exciting flight! :D
-
You most certainly can. Although I believe they automatically rearm after an hour.
-
The manual contains a full list if RWR threats and the various symbols. Don't have it in front of me atm to give you a page number The Mavrick will not automatically lock a target. The pilot has to tell it to do so: 1-refine TGP line of sight over intended target 2-TMS up long to set SPI with TGP (with TGP as SOI) 3-bring up MAV display, set as SOI 4-china hat fwrd long to slave all sensors to SPI (MAV is now tracking TGP line if sight) 5-wait till in range and start spamming TMS up untill MAV tracking gate collapses around target 6-pickle No need to slew if you don't want to but that will work just fine as well Edit: damn campers...:D

Want to IRIS and RAZBAM make different variant of the same plane?
SmokeyTheLung replied to P1KW's topic in Chit-Chat
I agree Viper. I'll be inclined to buy the one that has the more detailed and believable avionics, unless there is a large time window in-between products. If that's the case I might just have to buy them both ...I also have to say, sorry in advance to sound negative, I'll be shocked if either one gets anywhere near a10c level of realism. -

It's no joke! Here's the proof... :D can't help myself! Please moderators, stop me!!!! :D

It became available last thursday, where have you been?
-
That would take all the fun out of it :D On a serious note, lower your HOF to the lowest feasible level. I have to do more testing on this but it seems that on level ground that's 700ft. I generally set to 900ft to be safe (with a setting of 700ft they don't always have enough time to deploy) ...Won't completely solve the wind issue but will improve matters by a factor of 2 (at least) and there are no adverse side affects/consequences that I'm aware of (the "spread" will remain the same with every setting, unlike the CBU 87/103 [i think that might need fixing])

Don't have an easy answer for you. I'm going to bet that the folks that do will ask you for your system specs. Probably out to save time and post those up... for instance, DCS doesn't do well with 32 bit operating systems
-
Sorry about that! Must...stop...drinking and posting :D
-
Don't question it! ...you know my logic is foolproof :D
-
Yep, definitely a blender...Sorry for the confusion
-
Have you been living under a rock or something? ...It's really quite simple: DCS is an acronym made up of three letters, three is also the number of prongs on the average electrical cord, electricity is used to power blenders, blenders have parts that are made of metal, F-15c's also have parts that are made of metal... Therefore next DCS aircraft=F-15c ...Or it's a blender, not sure just yet, I'll get back to you

Fighter gun with higher muzzle energy than an A-10s

No. ...:D
